Kirribilli Seafoods is great. But also BIG TUNA FISH CO at The Entrance is unreal. We live in Pymble, but regularly drive up there just to eat fish and chips right on the shore of the Entrance. Their chips are berserk, the tartare sauce is nuts, and the selection of battered or grilled fish is second to none. We normally get flathead. But i sooooooo miss back in the 80's as a kid when we'd get fish and chips which was flake (shark), and the best potato scallops. The Wog family that owned our local store were the absolute best, that was in Wahroonga at the train station, where it is now burger hounds. Anyone grew up then will know the Greek Wog family , they were there for 20 + years and were the absolute best fish and chips in the upper North Shore.....

There is still Greek owned joint in St Ives , but i've never really rated it as it's quite expensive and the chips are bog standard frozen, and what's worse, if you ask for grilled they serve BASA (sewer catfish).. I never tried the Greek one in Wahroongah unfortunately.. Greek owned one in Gordon was taken over by Chinese years ago and has gone to the dogs

Hi Spanian, Hake is the norm in NZ, but snapr, tarakihi, gernard and so on the prices differ. The cost of fish is crazy to me, but if you enjoy fishing like I do. You can feed a family. Cooked or raw, rawfish, grilled, baked, bbqd, battered, crumbed so on. The pleasures of home cooking, its tiring, satisfying and delicious. But hey, I do have the occasional takeaway...Peace🤙☝️🙂

Ling is a very wet fish, nothing beats Snapper, Terakihi, Blue Cod , and Hapuka here in NZ, ( our colder water produces beautiful fresh fish) but in saying that ,had some beautiful cooked fish at Caloundra Seafood Market in QLD last week and it was beautiful)
