When doing cardio you should not stop eating calories. That's the problem with how people do cardio. If you actually consume calories you will actually improve performance. You have to make the body realise its to use food as a form of energy and not to save the energy from food.

However, listening to this episode while working on shoulder mobility with help of Prime Pro ignited that spark again and reassured me that how important is resistance training for balanced and healthy life. Will be back in few weeks with full intensity hopefully . Thanku for dropping these knowledge bombs in entertaining way guys. Much appreciated 👍

I don't watch these podcast but if you have shoulder pain first determine if it is rotator cuff or simple inflammation. If it's simple inflammation like most... Take a pain killer and rest it 2days and ice it and than start massage and heat treatments to recruit blood to that muscle to heal it also work the front and rear delt with 12-15reps to help bring blood to it on the same day so it will break down the muscle giving it more space to recover and not be irritated by other structures in the joint. Also do dead hangs for about 10 minutes through out each day, it's proven to give the shoulder the most space so very good for recovering shoulder problems .
@teek91882 жыл бұрын

I’ve always done a lot of cardio and ran 4-5 days a week.In October I started resistance training vs cardio and within a month was consistently losing body fat without much diet change, (if any )I still have a hard time with the mind set that I should be doing more cardio. I’m 50 and was noticing I was losing a lot of muscle tone as in “fat, skinny” is the reason I started resistance . I’ve been listening to you guys a lot for the past few months and you are such an encouragement. I found the 30 day workout you posted in January and started that last week. Im 6 ft 225 lbs, and i could easily stay fat with the amount i WANT to eat. I have to restrict my calories signifcantly to burn fat.

I really like what he said about don't look at the amount of calories an exercise burns look at the adaptations it can cause. I started lifting legs routinely and hard and I make sure I do every leg related exercise I can. I do tend to have some sort of blood sugar feeling although I'm not diabetic and my endocrinologist doesn't seem to know why and I've had clear blood tests for other stuff so what I'm doing to make sure I get as much time under tension/reps with legs is hit them in two different sessions. I know fat just kind of comes off everywhere when you lose weight/the last place it went on but I swear the only place i'm noticing it is not necessarily the waste but just overall in my legs as shorts are hanging lower even more so than shirt. I have a very wide chest and shoulders likely do to years of heavy and routine lifting but being very big I almost never hit legs at 300lbs other than literally like leg extensions for 3 small sets. Although the scale has stayed the same for quite some time and I am getting stronger and stronger each week it seems like and my cardio is improving. I'm wondering if my visible fat loss is happening around my legs locally because I'm routinely hitting my legs hard each week when I didn't used to. I wonder how much of that is muscle rebounding and new muscle keeping the scale steady/slight 4-5lb increases considering I'm trying to monitor calories. I remember the last time I attempted to lose weight I did stay at one weight for an impossibly long time even though I kept feeling stronger and stronger and more endurance and overall just better health because maybe my body was recompositing

Resistance training is NOT the best way to lose fat and for overall health. Many different methods, such as yoga (specifically talking asanas for an apple to apple comparison) and Tai chi (not personally aware of how well it affects the body positively, but overall i am aware that it helps in numerous ways), are on par if not better. Comparing yoga alone with resistance training, you have tendon, faschia, and ligament strengthening, which seldom happens in resistance training by itself. Resistance training doesn't help reach certain small supporting muscles properly, while yoga helps target almost all the muscles through the correct relevant poses. The one indubitable benefit resistance training has over yoga and probably every other exercise would be the time it takes to see results and benefits. You might have to do yoga for 2 years to get the same fitness you'd get from a proper fitness program done consistently for 6 months. Would love to hear contrary thoughts. Not here for giveaway.
@bigpicturegains2 жыл бұрын
Your tendons, ligaments, etc are all connected with your muscles. The idea that these things don’t strengthen from lifting is silly. While yoga and certain stretching may promote some muscle growth, there’s clearly a much lower ceiling to how much can grow from the practice. Resistance training grows much more muscle and contributes to the development of a much higher metabolism.

Sal hit the nail on the head when he compared strength training to investing. The afterburn, aftermath, whatever you wanna call it is what improves the quality of your life in ways you have never imagined. Imagine an extra 2 grand a month in passive income because you invested earlier in your life and put in the work to understand how it is going to benefit your future. Now think about the same with Weight Lifting. Burning an extra 2500 to 3000 calories a week from extra lean muscle mass and a higher revving metabolic rate. So essentially, you're working less hard, but the results keep on giving because of your strong core foundations.
