But you don't need a powerful pc to run these mods, if you can run native whit all the graphics options in high, you will run these mods, and native requires almost anything. You probably have a pc, a shit pc (that's why you don't use it), but i believe you can run it.

@@222jakub which is really unrealistic. Axes are really useless against full plate armor, which is why they weren't really used. axes are only decent vs chainmail, plate armor means you a far higher chance of your blow just glancing off and turning the axe head to the side.

@@Julian-ef9zz CA would have to rework their entire diplomacy system, making it more in depth and make it so that ai factions offer more money for making you betray your allie and also that the ai can also easily backstab you if it can further their position in the realm. i think that CA is incapable of making a really good total war game with good ai, good diplomacy system and overall a fun game that doesn't make the community concerned.

I agree with you 100%. Both mods have different vibes and feel different needs for a player. If you want to explore the world more, enjoy the beauty, go ACOK, if you want to feel the brutality of GoT, face against overwhelming oppositions (White Walkers or other threats), then go AWOIAF. People need to understand that there is no better or worse, there is no AWOIAF team or ACOK team. Both can be enjoyed and both have their niche.

ACOK: +Lush and filled out map +Troops for nearly all factions look awesome (looking at the Westerlands) and are easy to upgrade and maintain +Story quests are well done +Armor works as intended (makes people hard to kill, duh) +Sieges are simple and straightforward like native -Crossbows and some weapons are unfortunately useless when they shouldn't be, others are somewhat overpowered -Random events in-game can fuck up your stats if you pick the wrong option -Many character animations look stupid -Diplomacy in the mod unfortunately results in random wars everywhere and weird alliances triggering them all the time AWOIAF: +Animations are beautiful, archery in particular +Options at the beginning to go with the book or show storyline +Wars/faction relations can also be locked according to the storyline at the beginning +Larger battles (700 men) by default -Siege prep can end up wiping out a massive chunk of your army for no reason, like in Viking Conquest -Map is unfortunately massive yet barren -Faction troops look kind of dumb, are hard to recruit, worse to maintain, and awful to upgrade -The wound system is infuriatingly annoying, this is not an overstatement In summation: ACOK is more fun and somewhat better looking, but AWOIAF is more immersive, better for roleplay. I can't really pick one over the other. Further versions may iron out some of these issues, but the point still stands.

I used to really love AWOIAF and even created the face codes for many of the characters in the game, but I feel like the creator of the mod is too focused on making things more realistic and difficult. Another thing that bothered me was removing most cheats and the cheat menu, which is quite annoying for someone who just wants to go on and have a little fun instead of doing a serious play through.

My AWOIAF is properly screwed, the wildling destroyed the nights watch and taken the northern half of the north. The river land started to take over the westerlands but the reach joined them and took most of the river lands castles until the red wedding occurred and Frey took over the rest of the river lands. Crazy but fun. Meanwhile in ACOK the reach and storm lands take over the westerlands as normal and become powerful assholes.

Yeah the westerlands are fcked unless you help them out by executing Renly (which results in the Reach stopping their attack on the westerlands) or by doing the expedition beyond the wall + red wedding. In ACOK Kings Landing also feels really weak compared to AWOIAF, you get nothing from owning it and when the Reach/Stormlands/Dragonstone take the town over there is just a message saying Tywin goes back to the Rock as King of the Rock and that Cersei + all her kids are dead. There is no Kings Guard and no new mechanic like sending people to the wall.

I have problems with both. In AWOIAF you die really quickly. An arrow or two can kill the player easily. Shields are absolute requirements, two-handed is not viable. Money is easy to earn through trade, but become annoying as money is constantly being leeched from the player. (Weekly wage is hella expensive, gear is hella expensive, enterprises are hella expensive.. etc.) In ACOK, the start is frustrating. Gear is really important. Armor is basically broken, even in the video, you dealt 0 damage to the guy in full plate armor when hitting him in the head with a two-handed blade. I enjoyed AWOIAF more in the end due to the roleplay possibilities but in the end, I just wish it was a little bit more polished with more content gear wise.

I have played both mods for years and to me the biggest difference between the to is that AWOIAF allows you to disable static wars which acok doesn't. This leads to acok often turning out the same way (westerlands get smashed early af) which lead to me preferring to play AWOIAF since it offers a more varied expierience over time. Also it has waaaaay better companions (Barristan,Podrick FTW) and let's you play as both a dothraki and a wildling.

@@alexandercarlock1687 You set your race as freefolk from the character customization. On the Mance Rayder quest, you apparently need to have all of the nightswatch armor or something. ReformistTM also had trouble with that quest so it might be a bug.

You didn't mention the unsullied once! They are in both mods and are actually quite interesting as it is very interesting to have troops that have a very high initial cost but very low/no wages (plus are OP). My games tend to just revolve around filling my castles with as many unsullied as i can get my hands on but that just me:P

For AWOIAF you must got to the tavern in qohor where there is a guy who sells 50 unusllied for 75,000 and then you can get a new batch the next week. For acok you need to find a guy called Grazmak mo Senko in a tavern and usually you first find him in essos. He seems to sell up to 11 unsullied for 800 each but he also allows you to pay him 10k to move to your castle/town which is a must for acok

I'm near day 400 in ACOK and the unsullied are OP af!!! On the field they will absolutely destroy other armies in auto calc. I was going up against armies of 2-300 soldiers with about 3-400 of them and only like 50 of them would ever get hurt.

You can get Dothraki and Unsullied in AWOIAF, also in the main castle of each faction there is a person you can talk to which lets you recruit special troops, but only if youre part of lets say ''House stark''.

You can choose commander in the white walker mission and play as Jon Snow. I recommend playing as him and then telling your army to retreat so they don't get slaughtered. The hard part is killing a white walker and 50 wights alone.

You get a ton of obsidian arrows and he's deadly accurate shooting from horseback, just get your troops to hold in a line and ride in circles around the Wights

And do not forget AWOIAF also has an rework witch expands troop trees for all factions, adds new ones. Such as River-Run troop tree ,wich are riverlander troops on steroids and also singe, speciak troops ,such as Sunspear Guardsmen, Piper Sworn swords, Seagard knights and so on. It brings back the cheat menu and adds many more pieces of equipment and armor. Produno, the creator of the mod also explained how to add Custom Banners into the game so you can roleplay as part of any in-game house or add any custom banner into the game. If you are playing AWOIAF without the rework, you are missing out big time

The thing i hate on AWOIAF is the huge world. Seems there is much less density of villages. And it also seems empty and slow. In ACOK there are armies everywhere - map seems alive. But one thing still keeps me playing AWOIAF - every castle has their own very detailed interier and exterier.

Just go into warband configuration, check mark; use pixel shaders, load textures on demand, put in direct x 7 and force single threading. ACOK used to crash for me about every hour and now I could have it running all day if I wanted to without a single crash. Hope this helps!

I think it's fine not to be that great an M&B player, I'm not either and I love AWOIAF over ACOK. My preference is down to style and detail. Granted there are a couple of things I like better in ACOK like having more quests, lots of neutral, exploration zones, and the more fleshed out scene in the Essos part of the map. Now, a lot of things you mentioned about ACOK also exist in AWOIAF, there is a quest line you can complete to trigger an invasion, there's one claimant you can help rise in Essos by rebelling against his faction. It's ofc, much harder to get an head start but don't be ashamed to play it on the "easiest" difficulty, or exploit the various loopholes it has that let you "cheat" your way into a softer start. The thing about AWOIAF is that since it has much less quests and chances to acquire special treasure and equipment it also makes it so that knowledge of the mod's secrets becomes much more valuable. But for example your example quest of the White Walkers can be done without a massacre if you go into it alone just with Jon Snow, before you jump into the battle select the option to change commander, this will allow you to play the battle as Jon Snow. Since Jon in the game has op stats and a powerful weapon you can simply go around with your horse and pick apart the White Walkers until you beat them all. It's still a bitch for sure but much more doable than actually bringing an army that won't be able to kill them since they'll just murder them like nothing and you'll lose valuable units for no advantage at all.

While I do see the upsides and benefits to A Clash of Kings, I have more fun with A World of Ice and Fire. To me, it feels more expansive, more intense, and more fun to experience. Understand though, I say this as a casual fan of the GoT series. I've never had a chance to read the books, so for me, the one closer to the HBO TV show is the more enjoyable one for me. Also, I love the whole white walker invasions that we get with A World of Ice and Fire.

Well after my 480 day save on AWOIAF got corrupted I deleted it. I liked earlier versions of ACOK more, because it had fun quests. Now it has a fraction of those quests and crashes all the time late game. So both are kinda bad.

I've played ACOK and now I'm playing AWOIAF. I liked ACOK, is a good mod but now I'm in love with AWOIAF, is a lot better to me. The main thing I dislike from ACOK is that enterprises doesn't work like they should and is a pain in the ass afford the troop's manteinance. In AWOIAF you can build enterprises (that works) and besides, the garrisoned troops have cheaper manteinance, so you don't have to worry about money in mid-late game. In ACOK you have the Iron bank but it's not enough and if an enemy faction own Braavos you're fucked up, I don't want have anything to do with commerce after mid game, I want to lead my army, support my faction and later, lead my kingdom. Another thing is that in awoiaf you can recruit lords even if they don't have negative relations with their lieges which makes found your own kingdom easier and better.

I'm a casual M&B player. When I want to be a king or lord for some gameplay, I cheat. And the fact that AWOIAF limits cheating really makes it useless for me since I don't want to spend so much time in the setting up phase than the phase of having awesome battles and memorable moments. So by that the simplicity and replay ability of ACOK takes me back to it every time.

My world of ice and fire is properly screwed. Constant runtime errors. Which is a shame cause i definitely enjoyed it more than ACOK. Everytime i try and conquer something, runtime error. Tried everything from turning shadows and graphics down, to 3d backgrounds off. Makes me sad.

ACOK has the better quests. AWOIAF. There appears to be no trigger to force Renly to die to get Dragonstone going properly. When the Reach joins the westerlands the map goes to shit real easy. And it's far too hard then it needs to be, like seriously the damage to player is just pure insanity. Armour is practically useless.

Didn't play AWOIAF but have been playing A clash of Kings and enjoying it a lot so far.. Made my character as Rodric Forrester from GOT telltale version and been exiled from his home now I made his way up to free cities working as a sellsword, making all kinds of money and investing it to Iron bank for going back to North, bring my unsullied army with dothrakis alongside with unsullied trainer and destroy the Boltons then claim the North.. Lots of possibilities you can have, truly one of the ultimate role playing mod if u fancy it but be sure to not linger too much or Freefolk then whitewalkers takes over the North..

The Campaign ai on ice and fire is unbearable, I conquered like 2 3rds of Essos singlehandedly to forge a kingdom and could not get a single lord to join my new faction despite having about 30 right to rule and TONS of land to give away, even when talking to a lord who had relations of 100 with me, conceded that he would be safer if he joined my faction and that he preferred me would not join. Its just unplayable as a ruler.

When I came across the white walkers during the first mission it was cool as hell. Jon Snow killed like 4 wights when their army finally came into view and hit my lines. My men dropped faster than I ever saw and when I saw Jon killed 4 wights, I hit the retreat button. Only him and I escaped.

I’m really new to AWOIAF, only started like a week ago but here are my felling towards it: the mod is way more harder than ACOK, the Viking conquests functions are nice (but still, I’m quite bored about improving & repairing my gear). There are a ton of companions which is nice, the map feels slightly smaller than its competitor, I really like the story driven campaign, it adds a lot to the game. Still I haven’t done a lot yet, I’m still looking to find how to start some special events if they exist (like Targaryen and free folk invasion, apparently the red wedding exists, can I kill Renly for Stannis? Etc etc) North of the wall is a dangerous place; wildling parties aren’t that strong but still are large. I love fighting against giants and weird stuff. Not even talking of the white walkers... Concerning graphics, they feel equal although ACOK feels a bit more polished. The only bad thing I’ve come across are bugs: every time I leave AWOIAF is because of a CTD. The scenes in towns may cause the problem but crashes are frequent and randomly happen. Whether it’s during a battle, after it, in a town, crossing the sea... don’t know if I’ll ever “finish” my campaign if it’s not fixed.

Also; you need to entertain your troops in AWOIAF. Resting is not enough; you gotta play music in towns to keep the men’s morale. That is bloody annoying.

AWOIF is geared more for fans of both show and books. Some of the textures and a little better IMO, also love that it features characters from the show like Arya, Syrio, Pod, Brienne and such. Minimaps are superior to ACOK and I love that battles are set high by default so battles actually feel like "battles." But armor and weapon variety are very limited and map seems very open and doesn't feel very busy or full. ACOK has been developed longer, map feels full and complete, has more side quests and missions, characters that can join you are all unique, VERY wide variety of weapons and armors you can choose from. Minimaps and battle maps are eh, not bad, but not amazing either. Battles are set low by default, so battles feel more like mini skirmish with 20 from your side against 20 from the other side, which makes battles last FOREVER cause the reinforcements comes in groups of 20 at a time. So imagine you have an army of 400, sieging as castle of 350, and 20 reinforcements at a time, how long that would take. You CAN adjust battle size and reinforcement waves for both, but then for some reason, with ACOCK, that begins to cause huge lags for lower to mid range PCs. ACOK feels more complete as a game, AWOIF has characters from the show that definitely makes the game more interesting. So you just have to weigh what you can and can't live with. I stuck with ACOK, despite the ugly female faces, ONLY because of weapon and armor variety.

ACOK has better tactics and battleformations. It also doesn't have the native massive hills so you can't move around.

I like the troop trees and general feel of acok more than awoiaf, but the big problem with acok is that after around 200 days the factions go crazy and everyone declares war against everyone, making your weekly revenue laughable since almost all your enterprises get sequestered by your many ennemies

I know I'm very late in this, having just started M&B, But I have to point this out. Tried AWOIAF but stopped playing as the near-constant bandit and deserter attacks (suffered 4 in as many minutes) Ensured that my starting cash went to zero by the time I reached Winterfell and was able to deliver my message to Robb Stark.

I liked ACOK alot 100+ hours but there's a problem with armor imo. You have to bring certain weapons to counter heavy armored troops, which some might like, personally it was abit to much for me. I was stuck with a mace for a long time because you need a blunt or piercing weapon to do any dmg to heavy armored units otherwise you hit 0-5 dmg. If the dmg was halved when using the "wrong" weapons i would be totally okay with it. Also a small thing i dislike was the heavy cavalry for every faction (westeros) almost looks the same, i know its not easy making everything unique and the mod is a blessing to all fans of Game of Thrones. Yet there's room for improvement. EDIT: Patch 7.0 just got released and there's some changes to how cutting(c) weapons work against armor amongst alot of new content, quests, items, sellswords and so on.

Yeah I probably have 80-90 hours in and my main complaints are the armour thing, and that 80% of my battles ended up being sieges in my current run, which is all of my troops smashing up a single ladder and getting crushed against high level troops they can't even damage.

@@mlg_teletubby9391 The high str. requirements are also abit much, you almost "have to" get 18-20 str for a viable melee/knight character, which means high int or high charisma will be delayed furthermore, making the midgame a longer grind than vanilla where 12-15 str is often more than enough.

i think AWOIAF has more features and a polished westeros pro tip tho, the default difficulty is complete non sense, everything is handicapped against you including damage it's not a fair game you can revert everything to "normal" for a more competitive experience however i like playing on easiest because i'm new but even then playing dumb gets you killed lmao

it gets dull when your king in AWOIAF and taxes in acok is broken you get poor real quick.theres more to do when your king in acok, either way if you lose your army thats money gone down the drain field battles are more fun for me in acok rather than awoiaf you just end up fighting cav 70% of the time. either way wildlings suck :))))))))))))))))))))

My ACOK is screwed. House Targaryen showed up for like a month and then they were wiped out by Lys. Lannisport was taken by the reach and the Westerlands took winterfell.

AWOIAF is great, but all the bugs and the unpolished bits are just too much. Let’s say for example the red wedding that started to take part in 4.2 version. Even if I was at the Twins and defended Robb as a stark and Tuly loyalist, and successfully protested him from getting killed, the game mechanic still kills him anyway. After he was killed he somehow ended up still in the lords hall of Winterfell!

dsv Also the part of him dying is a bug, because I was there to save him before he got killed and smashed all the Frey forces at there as well, killed them all before they can get anywhere near to Robb but he still got killed by the storyline. This is just version 4.2, in version 4.1 I never saw the red wedding even happening. And according to reddit even though it is extremely hard, it is still possible to save him in that fight in previous versions. Other bugs are countless, like the natural harbor at EastWatch, when you interact with it , it acts like a bloody minister... hires spys and adjust taxes for you 😂 also you don’t gain moral when you buy wine for your men in taverns in 4.1(Fixed in 4.2)

I have played both, i prefer ACOK because i love mount and blade, and as you said, ACOK is a game of thrones warband game, i mean, the troops trees are good, the battle experience is funnier, the world map is way better and actually filled with things. Don't get mi wrong, AWOIF has very good and interesting things, both of them are very good, but i feel like AWOIF is more like a prove of concept while ACOK is a game.

I didn't enjoy the stories of Westeros and Essos that much that I'd need to hardcore roleplay around them in AWOIAF, but I do love the world and political development as a whole, so ACOK is miles ahead for me. Feels like a native Warband on steroids. I don't care for no Sansa :')

There is a mod for that. Go and look for Warband battle sizer really recommend it since some mods have a cap of just 150 and most of the time I use around 320

Things that bother me in ACOK: 1- 100+ men Bandit parties. Bigger than most lord parties.

@Pepson Games Most ranged weapons were pretty much useless against full plate wearers though. Spears were were really powerful, easy to use, cheap and great at denying cavalry charges. Crossbows were generally used for the simple reason, it's easier to train a crossbowman than an archer, anti infantry and area denial. Even a windlass are not gonna penetrate properly made plate armor, even at short range. There is a reason knights rarely died on the battlefield and were feared by your average dude.

I've been playing AWOIAF recently, becuz ive been waiting for the new ACOK update. I've never played it before and I choose to be a wildling and am fighting for them now. Honestly, pretty fun. Really hard, wildling troops suck. I tried to stick to using their armour and weapons until I got better ones from dead crows. Really hard, you get recked lmao. Cant wait for that ACOK update though. I would say AWOIAF is harder at first but in latest versions of ACOK even in the mid-game my sword bounces off of enemy soldiers doing no damage like im playing AD 1257

Elanasse Get a halberd or any other weapon that has piercing damage (what I do is make all Valyrian weapons do piercing/piercing because I think it fits better lore-wise, and is more fun). With a halberd and the best armor you can 1v200 it’s quite ridiculous really.

The main quest is being slowly updated as newer versions are released. The previous version didn't even have Crastos' Keep or Red Wedding.

If you can afford it Whores in kings landing bravos stoney Sept and winterfell is the easiest way to keep it up but a bit expensive Winning a lot of fights, bandits, clansmen or wildlings are easy to deal with Or a massive variety of food Nothing else to do really
