The rhythm game at the start was nuts. Amazing to see how fast their hands were going. But also love that this devolved/ascended to a Lord appreciation video

you think thats impressive, high level clone hero would blow your fucking mind
@TLoZSR3 жыл бұрын
@@jojivlogs_4255 to add some context here, timing is a huge part of iidx, when you see the blue "GREAT" text it means he's timing the note perfectly (1/30th of a second). This chart toph shows is very technical but not from a pure notespam standpoint. I'd argue that what toph shows is more impressive than top level clone hero stuff, but it is very different. If you want to see how far this game can go in the notespam category, look up "bms overjoy" (timing is usually less strict in bms).
@lolislayer49443 жыл бұрын
@@TLoZSR yeah different types of difficult for sure. Clone hero has a pretty massive hit window but usually yeah charts are more dense
@jojivlogs_42553 жыл бұрын
@@TLoZSR yes, im familiar with the concept of precision scoring lol. this comment has the same energy as "1 frame invincible move, 5 viable characters, childrens party game omegalul" but more subtle. clone hero does have a chonker hit window if you arent using precision mode, but the vast majority of top players don't use anywhere close to the whole hit window and it's quite frowned upon to do so. and when the nps increases in clone hero, it's not just spam. there are several standardized patterns (and a bunch of variations and odd ones that you only see in a few songs) and methods to hit them. just like the way characters in melee have kill confirms and combos that only work at certain percents and on certain characters. and, just like melee, people who inhabit adjacent communities think the game is amateurish compared to other games in the genre because they have an amateur understanding of the game.
@TLoZSR3 жыл бұрын
@@jojivlogs_4255 damn I hit a sore spot lol. Was just trying to explain that there's a lot more to this play than toph points out

I’m a nurse and I often equate game sense to critical thinking. In my profession having and developing game sense allows you to make and execute plans quickly and effectively. I think critical thinking is an amazing skill to develop regardless what profession you’re in. Those who critical think end up being excellent problem solvers when facing adversity.

This breakdown of the clips really shows how your subconscious really processes things much faster if you let it do so, but the amazing thing is being able to really shift in and out of that subconscious, like noting when stuff works and when it didn’t.

Speaking of n0ne and Lord, they played a really long session toward the end of last year (same week as the Axe clip). I can't link the vid because that's Not Allowed by KZbin comments, but if you search KZbin for "lord n0ne" the highlights will show up! They're sick

Game sense is massively important in FPS games. For example, a scrub will stand on a roof and shoot. A good player will have the game sense to go prone, because he knows it makes his profile harder to hit

Man, high level rhythm game play is always so impressive to me. I got pretty good at DDR (no bar, just foam pad) and basically hit a wall for what was possible with the tools I had available. I don't think I could have gone much further without a complete change (using a bar, for one), anyway, but it definitely was fun to sight-read no songs that was at a reasonable difficulty for my skill level :)

Idk how many back and forths N0ne v Zain have had. (It looked like those friendlies with your roommate where you know all of the tricks.) But I totally see him as a mindset player like that. "It makes him more honest" N0ne knows he is gonna lose on some of these gambits, but if you never do them Zain knows he can always go for the standard options.

Not to dig on Mango's game sense, because he is the epitome of it in Melee rn. But he has played the Falco-Yoshi mu enough to know that Shine breaks armor pretty reliably. Applying it off stage there is definitely dank, but I do think that is something he knew going into that hit rather than just thinking of it on the fly.

Games that require incredibly fast reactions like melee or the rhythm game you showed have the potential to put you into a literal meditative state. When you are so present, your hands are moving on their own, you have no thought, and at the end you're wondering "...woah wtf did I just do" that single-pointed concentration you had on the game could be consider a like mini Samadhi, which is the Buddhist/Hindu word for that state of pure concentration that can be achieved through meditation. Anyway, yeah melee is sick as fuck.

I definitely get what you mean when you say that the feeling of using your intuition in a game can be addicting Ive felt this with the Pokemon Drayano hacks the most where the games are significantly harder than vanilla versions but never unfair so in any given situation you always know that there is some strategy you can make up to win the battle And whenever a boss battle ends up being pretty easy its disappointing because you play the games because you want to be challenged and use your Pokemon knowledge to its utmost extent (I feel like competitive smash players are in the same vein where winning a match isnt very rewarding when the opponent isnt playing their best)
