In summary - - Software updates will be available (apparently..) - You don't need to download a dodgy client from a strange Chinese website to put games on it. - Putting games on it takes 2 seconds... - You can carry your whole games library with you on one cart... - Supports FAT16/FAT32/EXFAT, 128MB-128GB SD cards - Real time clock - Save states - Most importantly, came with Haribos... (Cannot guarantee yours will come with Haribos too, but we can only hope) - hello

This is awesome, I have a Supercard from many years ago that required the software to patch gba games, was so annoying cause some games didn't work. It let me play DS games too which worked fine for most as is, so i think I'll use that for ds and buy this for gba. I also have the gba movie cart that lets me play GB, GB color, master system, nes, gamegear from 2005. It has emulators built in or use your own that you copy onto a compact flash memory card, was sort of big emulator scene back then for it when not many of these cards existed. It can use same emulator Goomba colour to play GB and GBC games.

This is EZ Flash Omega model. There's also EZ Flash Reform that looks almost identical. Omega is an update of Reform (added gb, gbc and nes emulation and some other cool features - I believe sleep mode, real clock and lots of settings).

This looks a bit smarter than the Reform, but it's a shame they went back to a soldered in battery. I once got an EZflash 3-in-1 the battery was dead when i got it. I know those CR1220 batteries have a pretty low capacity but it's infinitely better to be able to replace it.

@albiiiiii_ 6 жыл бұрын
Justin Saephan Well technically, if I would download a rom and compare it to a dump I made myself with the original game, there wouln't be a difference, it's mostly the sharing / hosting of roms that is sanctionned, not the downloading part. But that's pretty hard to define since in most country it's in a grey area

I know this is an old comment now, but just had to say I had the same experience last week. I hadn't seen my GBA SP for about 15 years, it was in my parents attic and they asked me to come over to pick up anything I wanted to keep as they were clearing stuff out to move. The beast just booted up and carried on like I had only used it yesterday! I was so shocked. Definitely picking up an EZ flash as I can't find any of my old games cartridges unfortunately.

There shouldn't have been any doubt as to whether it could play GBC games on the Micro if it could play them on the SP. The only way a GBA flash cart can ever run GBC games is through running a software emulator in GBA mode, since the GBA can't switch modes while running.

Just in case you didn't know by now, but it appears as if the emulation it uses for getting Gameboy games working on the GB Micro is actually Super Game Boy emulation. The options that you scroll through are Super Game Boy options - and the border that Links' Awakening DX shows is actually the Super Game Boy border that's in the game. The colour pallets are also the ones used on the Super Game Boy too. (Various games have custom borders for the Super Gameboy - some even update based on game progression, but this is pretty uncommon - the only one I own personally which updates based on how far through the game you are is the Pokemon TCG)

I got myself one of these a couple of weeks back actually. Couple of things I've found: -Real easy to corrupt your save folder and mess the whole thing up, you have to be careful not to turn off too soon after any save action. - The folder structure is real weird, it only supports 513 items per folder so I had a lot of trial and error trying to organise all my roms. It also did this real weird thing where it wouldn't display ANY files I transferred into folders- And after tearing my hair out all day it turned out I had to use my phone via USB to put files on the SD card, instead of my card reader. -The gameboy colour emulation is patchy at best. Some of the best games on the system are just broken, which is a shame. Gameboy regular games seem to work perfectly fine however. Other than that definitely the best flashcart available.

general explanation for how this works, since you werent sure in the video. The games are processed entirely on RAM, similarly to how games on cassette and floppy disc were, since GBA games have such small filesizes, many of them can be written directly to RAM, imitating an actual cartridge, then erased right after. This is similar to how ISOs work in general, temporarily existing and then being deleted

I should state to anyone who wants to buy one of these, they are pretty great but be prepared for a lot of fiddling! The EZFlash Omega is a bit of a flakey beast when it comes to some things like updating the firmware. This is mainly because it draws MORE POWER than your average GBA cartridge. The immediate effect is that your battery life is cut down BIG TIME (you can have a GBA which is displaying a Green Light with a normal cart and when you put the EZFlash in it turns to red) and it is also reported to have power spikes here and there. Now what does this mean for you? Well, aside from the cut battery life you do also get some instability with things like firmware updates. When trying to update the firmware of the cart in my GameBoy Micro the difference between getting the Micro SD card to properly read and process a firmware update sometimes was flat out if the console was plugged into the wall or not. I'm not kidding. My main recommendation is to get a better battery for your GameBoy if you use a Micro or SP (higher capacity is what you want). I dunno about how the full sized GBA handles it but I presume you'll want to use high quality AA's or swap in a high quality rechargable battery pack. Also worth a note, the Nintendo DS and DS Lite seem to handle these flash carts quite a bit better in terms of battery

This is an example of a product that reviews well, but in actual daily usage falls short. I cannot use my EZflash omega for anything besides "pickup and play" games like action titles or beatemups. I have begun several RPGs and game requiring long comitted playthroughs and time and time again, if I stop playing for just a couple days, the save will corrupt itself. I have lost pokemon and harvest moon files with over 20 hours poured into them. I lost my Rhythm Tengoku save where I got all the gold metals for each song. I really hate my omega for this reason. I couldn't find any help online, I have tested the battery with a multimeter many times and the voltage is always correct. Needless to say I'm looking forward to Krikzz's next GBA flash card that will fit flush as a standard GBA cartridge, but that's going to be expensive and I sure wasted $80 on this thing when it first came out. :(
@Kalvinjj

Weird, that never happened to my EZ-Flash IV Micro SD one. What I know can happen to the model I have tho, is if you leave the entire flash cart out of use (so not just changing the games) for very long, like 2 months or more, it can deplete the battery that holds the save. In my case it did happen, but the only save that was gone was the last changes since last play from a game (I think Advance Wars), the save file was intact whoever. It seems it's also a rechargeable cell as it was back to new condition after some use. I can imagine that happening sooner on the Omega tho since it has the RTC function. For any flash cart, regardless of how good, I would definitely always recommend to keep backups of the save folder or save files of the games you play, you can never be too safe with that.

That’s weird. I see this issue come up for a lot of people, but I’ve personally never had it happen to me. I’ve had mine for over a year and spent several hundred hours with no issues with my saves. I do still perform backups just in case, though. I wonder why the quality isn’t consistent with everyone...
@Kalvinjj
@Kalvinjj 4 жыл бұрын
@@yani4349 Do you use it regularly over this time, or leave it unused for long periods of time? Because I too have my EZ-Flash IV for like 2 or 3 years now already, and it only once gave me the dead battery save corruption. Even that too, as I said, is just the last changes from the last played game, the save itself is fine, you just lose the progress you made from the last play, and running the cart for some hours charges it back.
@yani4349
@yani4349 4 жыл бұрын
Kalvinjj I normally use it regularly, but there was a period where I didn’t use it for around 2 months because I got really busy with college. I just started using it again now that finals week is done, and so far my saves are still in tact

does it supports saving using the in-game save system, or do you need savestates ? That's the main grip I have with other similar cartridges, or 200-games-in-one pre-loaded cartridges.

I hope Flubba is being credited by them for his GOOMBA GBC/GB emulator he developed on the GBA many many years ago. The emulation isn’t 100% but most games work, Mr Do! doesn’t iirc. This emulator is available elsewhere, it shouldn’t be suggested that it’s something unique to this cart.
