Very excited to see you branch out to other titles and genres. Great stuff as always

Thanks! I know this particular hobby of mine won't stretch into much of an audience but I just like it.

Cool to see Bright mentioned, great content

Oohhh yes yes yes. More like this please. I took a look at BAR and FAF a while back but got kinda intimidated and set it back down. This reminded me I ought to pick one of these back up. And your top level comparison was really helpful to contextualize a lot of the vague areas that cause that back-of-the-mind air of uncertainty. Would love to see another joint that helps those of us you've convinced to get nestled in and confident.

Think ill do a video. Gonna have to play with my format a bit but I'm really having a ton of fun with BAR

10:50 Another RTS I used to enjoy, Planetary Annihilation, had enemy bases and units blow up when a commander was destroyed. Additionally, the commander basically nukes itself often taking several strike units down with it. Not sure if bases nuked or not, off the top of my head. I mention this, because it doesn't skyrocket one player to the stratosphere on another player's defeat. I think you'd like that game if you gave it a shot. It has a lot of simplicity, but a lot of depth as well.

Planetary Annihilation is a spiritual successor of Supreme Commander, made by the same people! In both games the commander explodes as a nuke when destroyed.

Planetary annihilation is fun; but oh my god the players nowadays are so crazy optimized. Assuming you can even get it to run on your device; last time i tried it just didn't work.

PA is awesome but definitely more of a TA successor in the same way BAR is. I do really like the little planets but it also has its own gameplay issues. I never found it super engaging as a game, more as a spectacle.

Ah. I knew you were a man of culture.

Playing BAR with you is on my list. Gonna finish Wukong first. Of course, Space Marine 2 might be ready by then. One day...

We're obviously gonna be playing some SM2 when that drops.

9:56 hey i recognize that game! I just got introduced to BAR last night from Reginald lol; was a ton of fun. I personally also like the smaller style RTSes like Starcraft, but actually not for versus games; the smaller scale just means if you mess up the enemy drops directly into your base or unburrows 50 banelings under your army and you just loose. Wheras in these games, not only can your mistakes be compensated for by the seven other players, generally messing up doesn't mean instant loss as each unit is expendable.

It was a great game and change, thanks for playing

Ooh, Supreme Commander and its family! I wouldn’t have guessed! Edit to add after finishing the video: the SupCom aesthetic and scale have always stuck with me even though I rarely play the game anymore. It just does a lot of smart things.

Yeah me too. The only comparison I could ever draw was Homeworld. Shame about homeworld 3.
@CrazyFarseer26 күн бұрын
@@Reginald-sc9tk Oh, I recently played the original Homeworld for the first time and was enraptured by it as well! Yeah, that has a similar grandeur and distinction to SupCom. As a friend put it, “they don’t make games like that anymore”.
@CoolHatTom25 күн бұрын
If you haven’t tried it, these games remind me a lot of Planetary Annihilation: Titans. They’re similar with the scale, but the cool part about PA is, well, the planetary annihilation.

Its a good game, never really gripped me though from the competitive scene's perspective.

Hey - thanks for the mention! Glad you're enjoy the sub-genre and I thought this was a great overview. Hope the video will be a bit of a slow burner like mine was.

It was my pleasure. I have been playing a ton of BAR now that I finally found some time and it's an amazing game. Really glad you turned me onto it.

I wish I could get into RTS games more but there's just something about 'em for me that makes them feel like my own personal little brain Sisyphus, and not in a good way unfortunately. I've always been a fan of turn based strategy kinda games, but the differences Real has from Turn often overwhelms me whenever I try to give an RTS another go. You sure did make these 2 or so games feel appetizing to me somehow regardless, if that means anything (* ̄3 ̄)╭
@Reginald-sc9tk26 күн бұрын
This is another reason I prefer this genre. It requires lower APM to at least make it to Average Joe's tier skill. Compared to say star craft which is micromode 9000

You know what, Supreme Commander is like 3 bucks on steam right now, why the hell not. Consider me thoroughly appetized.

Yooo, haven't played BAR but zero-K and supreme commander(2 >: ) fight me) are awesome
@Doomblade389020 күн бұрын
Just out of curiosity since you mentioned it, what was it about Zero-K that turned you off?
@Reginald-sc9tk19 күн бұрын
I think it was the graphics maybe? Its a clear downgrade from supcom and also plays kinda weird. That's not very good justification I know but I just played more supcom instead after trying it.
