The Baofeng UV-9G has been the worst radio experience I've had. With the first radio, nobody could instruct me on restoring the FM radio stations. Neither online forums nor the store I purchased it from could assist. The FM radio channels are absent in Chirp. The second radio also lacked FM stations, and the extended antenna intended for improved reception did not function. The third radio fails to pick up NOAA channels. I live 200 yrds from Lake Michigan. Picking up the NOAA Weather Channels is important to to me. The Baofeng UV-9G turned out to be a waste of both time and money.

Well, the "Alex Jones" robovoice is good, but you need to fix certain phrases. NiMh is not nim, It's nickel metal hydride.

Wouxun's build quality is excellent. You pay for it but the 905G is one tough radio that is simple to use. I have two.

What kind of terrain do you use it in? I am looking for the best handhelds I can get for use in a hilly forest with my hunting crew.

My use area is mostly mountains.

@@2thumbsdown I just picked up two 805Gs. They work well near my home but I am anxious to test them out in the forest/hills. Hoping to get 2 miles out of them. Thoughts?

I purchased the BTECH and I couldn't get to 1st base with it. Couldn't pair it! Instructions were absolutely awful! It wouldn't tell me why the green and red led at the top was flashing. I tried in vain to pair exactly like the "so-called" instructions, but it wouldn't. Returned it!

Any thoughts on the new Baofeng UV9G for beginners? Thanks Edit: I see you have a video on it, my bad.

No Wouxun KG-935G Plus? This GRMS HT is making some serious waves.

BTECH GMR-PRO is absolutely far away from other two radios. It´s like 10 years ahead....

Thanks for sharing, yes it's a great radio but age doesn't really make it better than others
@EbonySeraphim Жыл бұрын
@@WhollyOutdoor I don't think "10 years ahead" was referring to the age of the BTech. @gastonbaruiille was referring to the features of the BTECH GMRS-Pro, something I own, and while you didn't mistate anything about it, when you went on lauding the Wouxun radio, you were mostly mentioning things that the GMRS-Pro has as well like intuitively laid out menus, programmable buttons (GMRS-Pro has 3, multifunction button w/long press, double tap, short press for each). The only thing you said that feasibly was "Wouxun only" was the antenna build and how that relates to squelching. You mentioned the "attention to detail" in the programming app for the Wouxun, but what extras are you programming on the radio? BTech's is proprietary programming too, so what can't you do there and can with the Wouxun? Simplicity has it's value, for sure. Some would prefer the style and look of it, but by no means is the GMRS-Pro an overwhelming radio if you're just using it as a radio. And yeah the texting and GPS are killer features for camping, ski/snow resort tracking etc.

The pro does not seem to have GPS on its own. I have two and they seem to need to connect to my phone for GPS to work.
@RKingis Жыл бұрын
It depends. My Anytones take close to 15 minutes to get a location lock. This is how real GPS actually works.

That Baofeng apparently isn't on Amazon anymore?

I have some and both of the batteries quit working within a few months. Can’t get new ones either. They probably discontinued them. I believe Retivis still offers the exact same radios but they’re orange.

That’s a nice thought and I agree with you almost all the time, but the fact is the Chinese radios are way head of Motorola and Midland.
