The best gopher trap in the world -cinch trap

This video sold me on the Cinch trap. I went from borrowing my neighbor's trap that didn't catch crap to this, which gets them almost every time for me. I can proudly say I have caught 6 gophers in 2 and a half weeks. Thank you to the guy who did this. Also, pay attention to how this guy sets it, as they do not come with instructions. Thinking I am gonna get my neighbors these for gifts they can actually use. : )

Thank you for posting this video! I have tried some of the supposedly best traps and the gophers just fill them with dirt. The black trap with a hole, I think I've only caught 1 or 2 gopher, but I have caught more with the type with prongs, but I'm not having any luck anymore. They have gotten really smart. This was informative: Only need 1 trap and how you set yours up. Actually I thought it was good for people to see what a gopher looks like so they could easily identify them. It wasn't like he had the sharp prong type of trap and was bleeding. He was just being held in place.

Appalled. (Professional wildlife trapper.) Great trap, but anyone who allows a trapped animal-even a rodent, to suffer? This guy would never work with-or for me. A good trapper does more than just trap an animal, they dispatch animals immediately and humanely.

It seems there are large, medium, and small size Cinch traps. Can a medium size trap work for large gophers?

great video but have you tried the Gophinator trap by Trapline products? I've used the cinch,death clutch and many others but I believe the Gophinator out beats them all. Stainless steel so no rust, and the trigger is closer to the jaws so that the gophers are caught around the neck and die.

It only did because this guy's using the wrong size trap if it had been the appropriate size it would've caught him at the neck and killed it within seconds

What state are you trapping in? It looks like you should have used the small trap- the mole/gopher cinch trap. It would have caught the gopher higher up in the chest area and would have killed it right away. I know because I had used the bigger trap and it was always catching them by the guts and it took longer to die ;-( In Cali the Gophers are smaller than on the East coast.

This is so great. Gonna find me a trap like your cinch one I think. I grew up with death-clutch and in my pickup I always keep what I call greenies they are like a death-clutch but I don't think they work as well. Thanks for the video

Gopher is smart. Cinch trap didn’t work. They buried the trap right in the hole.

You have the small and the large i like the small . , and I do not mean the Mole trap , the small gopher trap because it gets to hard to place the jaws in the hole with the large one the small is perfect and can catch giant gophers or small

@MrTalmud I usually hit them over the head with a stake really quick and get it over with. But usually they are always dead inless i just caught them.. Me myself i recomend the death clutch or a johnson trap

if that gopher was suffering you would hear him squealing, I was cutting off the feet for bounty one time and one was still alive its let out a horrendous scqweek of shear paine I never did that againe they usally just go to sleep after a wile in the trap or you rap them on the head and they are out . but this trap gets them almost all of the time

I get that they do damage and are pests and need to be controlled. But you should have killed it immediately, it did not deserve to suffer one second longer after you trapped it. That was cruel and needless on your part you should be ashamed. You could have shown it dead in the trap and gotten just as effective message across without showing an audience an animal suffering. Uncool.

Killing is fine and I have done plenty. Just do it clean and don't make the animal suffer. Be humane. +foskten10 I am not a animal rights activist, just trying to be a decent human being. Seen more suffering than you might imagine. Needless shit. The reason you kill them as soon as possible is because its the right thing to do period, it is not debatable. There is no need at all to keep them alive and make them suffer. Plus there are laws against animal cruelty and this video depicts a form of that though I doubt the owner has that much knowledge on the subject. The gopher did nothing intentionally to you or anyone. It is simply our duty as HUMANS to act with humanity. That's what separates our species from animals. Animals act on instinct and survival. We are supposed to have the capability to logic this out and show empathy as well when possible. These animals are not an enemy intentionally, they are not out to destroy us, or demoralize us. They are merely pests just trying to survive and feed their families. They have no benefit to us like a potential enemy might to keep alive to extract information from. They are just pests that need to be controlled efficiently. If you don't get that or don't have the level of compassion to understand this then that's unfortunate. Maybe you just need to rethink. People who ignore suffering of anything animal or human are simply uncool. And getting to it when you are good and ready is inability to show compassion. Too bad. Not my problem thankfully. I'm done arguing this no brainer issue. If you were the gopher, you would feel differently and be begging for a quick death. If you were human in a trap you would be screaming to whatever god you have for an end to the suffering. You have to remember, they are just doing what they were made to do, they are not an enemy just a pest. They might piss us off and drive us crazy but that is all they are. Killing them to control them is one thing, making them suffer is another entirely. This idiot is talking away while this animal is in pain, probably excruciating pain. Imagine if that was you...it looks like a pretty painful way to go. This is cruel, and inexcusable. He should have killed it immediately, certainly before pressing record.
