Great to see GT becoming relevant again. In the late 80s, early 90s, GT was the mountain bike to have... well, them and Klein. GT was my very first MTB and someday I will own another one.

I tried gravel and then ended up with a hardtail and the excellent Surly Corner Bar and gravel tyres from Planet X. So much cheaper, durable and more versatile on the trails I ride.

I have been ridding and buying bikes for 20 years (some of them top end bikers) and I will never understand how a bike with no suspension and just one derauler can cost more than 1.500 - 2.000€ 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’ve gave up riding on road in the UK as the amount of abuse etc thrown my way, is just not worth it. Looked for a reasonable carbon gravel bike (again) and they are all rip offs for cheap frames and parts. Ended up with a Mondraker EMTB at a fraction of the price and tons of fun. Yes heavy, but that’s why the motor is there.

I agree. For the money just go a good xc bike with 80-100mm suspension. Gravel bikes are just a fad in my opinion a step back in time. Yeh it's carbon who cares buy a carbon xc bike. And to be fair most gravel racers now are riding drop bar xc bikes in competition so if you really want to be like the pros get a xc bike 😅

Wake me up when we can get 2x drivetrains on gravel bikes again. I like a huge gear range so unless it has a 10-50t cassette, 1x is worthless to me on any drop bar bike

You can pair etap doubletaps with an eagle RD. I have Rival etap 1x12 with a 10-52 cassette on my gravel bike. The cassette is basically a 10-42 11spd cassette with the addition of the 52t bailout ring
@BoxCarBoy12
@BoxCarBoy12 24 күн бұрын
@@lieblingsleguan1591 even with a 10-52, range only merely becomes acceptable if I had no other choice of a drivetrain. I prefer even more range, where I live I make use of every single gear in my 2x setup with a 46-30 crankset and 11-42t cassette

This is going to be the new norm. After the pandemic bubble burst, brands were left with huge inventory surplus and it scared all the brands to the point they are only ordering small quantities of new bikes because they don't want a repeat. This is exactly why so many new model year bikes are out of stock and you cannot backorder them. It will be like this for the foreseeable future. If you want a new bike, buy it when it releases and don't wait.

Easy, ridden lots of bikes..my choice is the Cannondale Supersix SE frame set built up with Force 2x AXS, some good wide carbon gravel wheels and wide tubeless tires around 42-45mm. If you like 1x the slap on the Eagle 12spd rear with a force 1x in front. Fast, responsive, stable on downhills, big tire clearance, good frame warranty, and 2x compatibility without losing tire clearance is easy choice. New model around the corner upgrades if you want to a delta steering tube for integrated cockpit cables. Bike continues to do well including winning Unbound 200 Gravel this year and for some reason is ignored by the press.

Thinking of a gravel bike to supplement my winter riding and possibly do some gravel races here in the UK now. I already have an Epic 8 MTB and Roubaix, However I notice that most of the gravel bikes don’t even have mudguard mounting except the Diverge and Revolt and i am fed up with crappy strap on mudguards which i have had plenty of on my Roubaix(Not SL8)

@@palpatine1975 GT still had a high-end MTB line up to about a decade ago...but they also had budget bikes in big box stores at the same time, which diluted the brand. I believe Dorel tried to [poorly] copy for their GT brand what Brunswick did with its Mongoose brand in the late 90's, by having "Mongoose" in big box stores and then "Mongoose Pro" in bike shops. Of course it did not work out. The reality is Dorel had, and now PON has, too many brands competing against each other...they are like General Motors in the 2000's, having to kill off Oldsmobile and Saturn to survive. I mean whatever happened to Iron Horse after the takeover? I saw some Iron Horse branded accessories in Walmarts for a brief period, but the brand basically evaporated.

Orbea all the way. Why? It's the best-looking (and be even better in 2x). The GT is ugly and I wonder what's more silly about the Santa Cruz: the suspension fork or the extremely stupid name. "Stigmata" is the plural of "stigma" which roughly translates to "sign of shame". The only thing I can think of what this has to do with this bike is the price tag.
