Great to see GT becoming relevant again. In the late 80s, early 90s, GT was the mountain bike to have... well, them and Klein. GT was my very first MTB and someday I will own another one.

This is going to be the new norm. After the pandemic bubble burst, brands were left with huge inventory surplus and it scared all the brands to the point they are only ordering small quantities of new bikes because they don't want a repeat. This is exactly why so many new model year bikes are out of stock and you cannot backorder them. It will be like this for the foreseeable future. If you want a new bike, buy it when it releases and don't wait.

Easy, ridden lots of bikes..my choice is the Cannondale Supersix SE frame set built up with Force 2x AXS, some good wide carbon gravel wheels and wide tubeless tires around 42-45mm. If you like 1x the slap on the Eagle 12spd rear with a force 1x in front. Fast, responsive, stable on downhills, big tire clearance, good frame warranty, and 2x compatibility without losing tire clearance is easy choice. New model around the corner upgrades if you want to a delta steering tube for integrated cockpit cables. Bike continues to do well including winning Unbound 200 Gravel this year and for some reason is ignored by the press.

@@palpatine1975 GT still had a high-end MTB line up to about a decade ago...but they also had budget bikes in big box stores at the same time, which diluted the brand. I believe Dorel tried to [poorly] copy for their GT brand what Brunswick did with its Mongoose brand in the late 90's, by having "Mongoose" in big box stores and then "Mongoose Pro" in bike shops. Of course it did not work out. The reality is Dorel had, and now PON has, too many brands competing against each other...they are like General Motors in the 2000's, having to kill off Oldsmobile and Saturn to survive. I mean whatever happened to Iron Horse after the takeover? I saw some Iron Horse branded accessories in Walmarts for a brief period, but the brand basically evaporated.

Orbea all the way. Why? It's the best-looking (and be even better in 2x). The GT is ugly and I wonder what's more silly about the Santa Cruz: the suspension fork or the extremely stupid name.
