You can hear this groove applied in musical context by listening to hillsong united live in miami “with everything”. The groove is at 9:05 but take note of how simon transitions into the groove. If you confused by 32nd notes all you need to do is feel the ride floor tom part as fast 8th notes and hence the 32nds simply become the friendly 16th notes we all know and love.

loved the groove. just one thing to point out about the tempo. The tempo 55 and 140 in the graphics are actually 22.4 and 70 as the groove is notated in 32nd notes. Great presentation overall.

Hey! just subbed! The drums that my church has are custom made, and it does have a ping ride cymbal which is used in the chorus. You can make it wash when you wanted. One day I'd like to try playing them but I don't have the motivation or time to do it.

I go to Grace Bible Church in Nacogdoches, and I have friends who play drums. They do have the thicker cymbals I believe, with the ride being the thickest and having a ping sound. What do you think of the ping ride used during worship? We do mostly contemporary style hymns with a mix of contemporary hits.@@DeBoltDrumming

I'm not a fan of the ping sound personally, I like the washier ride cymbals that can used like a crash cymbal. But use whatever works!! @@jeromedavis8575
