I’m Scottish and grew up in historic revival area and met older ppl who lived through them: they would have been appalled at this abusive behaviour that is the very antithesis of what they experienced. I want to thank you for your bravery in speaking out, as I had a couple of moments of clarity where my heart echoed some of your experiences, and also benefited reading the comments. I genuinely thought ppl took the Bible seriously as a rule of faith and life, but they were playing by a totally different set of rules and therefore always “winning”. However as your ending suggests, they need to consider the very real possibility each time they grace a stage to take God’s words on their lips, more and more knowing looks could be facing them?

O buddy 💔💔💔o my gosh. This breaks my heart. I know what it's like to be manipulated by these people..i live on the west coast so when I followed them i had to do so via the internet..i was under their influence from 2011 till about 2019 - I would follow them through KZbin worship songs, classes from worshipu, and from Bill Johnson messages. I followed them because I wanted to learn how to be a better worship leader, but I was negatively affected by them so badly. I have no idea what it's like to be abused by them in person though and so my heart and prayers will be going out to you and your wife. Thank u so much for sharing this🙏🏼I've been praying for the Lord to expose the dysfunction of Bethel and the like since 2019, and so your testimony is helping, I'm praying, to set the world free from their addiction to these worship ministries and from these churches....I think they're doing much more harm than good. I feel for you. This shouldn’t be so in Jesus’ church. Riddle is in Brisbane Australia for The Awakening conference and in church this morning we had him preach via televised live from the conference. I wanted to check out who he is and came across your videos on spiritual abuse. Interestingly his sermon was about 4 things the church lacks - the first one being lack of love, referring to 1 Cor 13. Turns out he’s become as sounding brass and a tinkling cymbal. The 2nd was lack of humility and pride. What a hypocrite Jeremy and his wife are. The 3rd and 4th are lack of holiness and lack of missional focus.

Allan Scott or any other church leader can and should be questioned according to the Apostle Paul, who applauded the Bereans for checking him according to the scripture. Making a man’s word equal to the inspired Word is how cults begin. If anyone says their inspired insight is at the same level of authority to the Bible, they are deceiving you. The body of Christ is made up of different spiritually gifted people whose functions are there to KEEP THE CHUCH HEALTHY! Your ministering to others was a gift from God, and a good thing.

The church is a mess, huh bro? How are we different from the world? So sad. But you know, this is exactly why I don’t elevate any man . I keep my eyes fixed on Jesus. Men will let us down. But again, it’s so sad that this happens in organizations like you’re describing. They come off so Holy and pious, yet they are filled with dead man’s bones. One of the things that I harp on , coming out of the reformed tribe is that the charismatics have the spirit, where the reformed really lack this. But then you hear something like this and you say to yourself, they’re really no different than anybody else. I’ve spent the last three years crying over the church and how they are . We wonder why the divorce rate is just as high as the secular realm. We say we want revival, we know that we’re supposed to become less so that Christ can become more and yet, wedeny revival in our actions. One of the problems I believe is lack of worshiping in spirit and in truth and prayer .

I’m not convinced that the line between strong leadership and abusive leadership is quite as clear as you have painted it to be. If the ministry of Nehemiah (see Nehemiah 13:25) was counted worthy of honorable remembrance in Bible, perhaps we should all be a little slower to label church leaders as abusive. Would it be wise to evaluate Nehemiah’s entire ministry based on Nehemiah 13:25, or do we need to carefully weigh the context? On the other hand, when church leaders are clearly in the wrong (as I’m sure Alan and Jeremy were at times), there should be a willingness to admit fault (and a willingness to work towards reconciliation). In that sense, I fully agree that all church leaders need accountability. I just don’t think it is at all constructive to label church leaders as spiritually abusive unless it has been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Everybody needs to get out of the institutional church - whatever the flavour. The Body of Christ that Paul describes is not to be found today. All we see is people sitting silently before one man who calls himself senior pastor.

I’m glad you and your wife are no longer at that church. Spiritual abuse continues. I left my legalistic church that I was part of for 13 years. I was very involved in ministry. My former husband was not a Christian and he was abusive. I went to my then pastor for advice. I was tired of the abuse. Through tears I told this man of God that I feared for my life and my 2 young children. He smiled real big and said “ praise God! You’re suffering for the Lord!” I’ve been involved with other churches but the song remains the same. So, I officially left the organized church 7 years ago. I still love Jesus. I’m in contact with fellow believers. For the past 3 years I have been running a KZbin channel with my son called The Reassembling. Many are deconstructing- we believe in rebuilding and reassembling. God bless you and your wife on your journey with our Lord!

Pride comes before a downfall. We are all vulnerable to falling into sin and we all need to be open to listening to people who are expressing concern. I hope and pray that Jeremy and Katie repent and confess their sin publicly and get back to the place of obeying the Word, not the influence of sinful man.

Hey brother, I am not someone who supports this or that worship leader. But if you are a believer and love the Lord, study the life of David and his dynamic with Saul (who was a chosen kind by God) and how he dealt with him. Did you approach other spiritual leaders (outside your church) for help? (I might even get crap for my comment so far, but I will be praying for you and hoping that God will resolve this in His way, not in the way any of us may want.)

sorry to hear that my brother. i know what that is like. we had the same problem and we had to leave our ministry of many years because "we didnt follow the rules" "we dont think like them" "how dare we question them". we are not there to serve leaders. but out Father in heaven. what we did was, we walked away. knowing God would use us somewhere else. people need to understand that they can just walk away. and i hope that you can as well my brother. ask God for guidance.

We should all remember Lord Acton's fzmous words, "Power tends to corrupt and sbsolute power corrupts absolutely".This so true that it should be in the bible. Governance in the locslchurch needs to be a loving and patient balance.between the Senior pastor, the board of elders and the congregation. Huge decisions like leaving the Vineyard association, buying a new building or installing a new.senior pastor need to be ratified by the congregation by a clear majority. In doing this, we will be making every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. The whole body needs to move together not just a brother snd his hand picked board. If this had been done in AnHeim this whole mess would have been avoided.

These staff attutudes are so reminiscent of Bethel Redding where Bill Johnson was so obsessed with a culture of continuous revival that he didn't care that half of his congregation left. That was several hundred people. That's a huge church split. Johnson became a run away pastor who had a pipe line to God and didn't care about what a good percentage of his congregation thought. Years later we see what a crazy new age prophesy driven heresy hole the place became. These non denominational churches have totally immature church government ready made for abuse. Senior pastors aren't little Moses' or Elijah's. The congregation can hear from God too.

I don’t attend the Dwelling Place church. I came across them by Googling live Christian Worship. And here’s the thing, if Jeremy Riddle is responsible in anyway for the worship that comes from that place, he is doing a great job. The fruit from there worship is excellent fruit, I have yet to hear anything better. Not really taking sides in the politics of Dwelling Place Church, but simply commending there worship, and whoever is responsible for putting it together.

Man I hope you can get back to being the guy you used to be! I miss seeing your positive side! I hope you have some sunshine even on a cloudy day! :-)
