I love all guitars. All have their own character. In worship I think fender stratocaster is the most flexible due to their rich tonalities and dynamics for clean + overdrive + ambient sounds. The sweetness can be achieved with the tone adjustment knob. With other guitar you simply cannot have the strato sound.

I own a LP, Gretsch Hollowbody and a Strat. I think you shouldnt directly compare them without adjusting the EQ. The Gretsch will (especially on the Neck) have lots of middle and bottom, while the Strat bridge is mostly very bright. I think there is not "the best" Guitar for Worship because in practical use some Guitar fits more for a specific song than others. But if you only have one Guitar and you know it (also your effects etc). very well, you should be able to get great Tones out of it. I really like to use the LP for a more rock and "party" like worship song (Because of the more aggressive Pickups) while the Gretsch is more for the profound songs. The Strat is the allrounder in my Opinion. I Love all of them and sometimes cant decide on which guitar i will Jam.

@@kodymiller1602 Yeah for sure! Yes, mine are the stock pickups. That's funny you find them dark, because I also find them to be on the bright side. I think you don’t give the Falcon enough credit for rock. BTW, technically, there are THREE Fenders in the lineup-Fender owns the Gretsch brand.

I think Rosewood board Tele is a great choice! I had a great one I regret selling. Now I have a Maple Board parts tele now with Danocaster pickups. It sounds amazing but sometimes the top end is too much so I'm typically rolling off the tone a bit or reserving bridge pickup only for big moments. Next build I do might be a rosewood board tele with a Bigsby so we can get into Gretsch territory. Fun video! Love how you involved your wife. She did great! The Strat question.... here's the thing, I think the sound isn't the only issue with the Strat. It's also tuning stability (especially if you float ... and not floating is just no fun). Sometimes it's perfect and sometimes it's not - so it's always kind of a roll of the dice. I feel like with the Tele, you're never going to go wrong or be lacking a full sound.

I've been recording a lot lately and have been finding myself reaching for my tele way more often than my other guitars. I think you're right - it's bright and clear like a strat, but not as shrill/thin, retains more low end, and gets along way better with overdrive imo. The only time I reach for my Jaguarillo (basically an HSS strat in a jaguar body) is when I want the 2nd/4th position sounds, which isn't all that often. Will say it's been a min since I've had anything with filtertrons or dynasonics, and I miss them - something with either of those will probably be my next purchase as I feel like that specific tonal range in the middle between S-style pickups and PAFs (including tele singles, dynas, p90s, and filtertrons) is just the sweet spot for me!
@JustinMuncy Жыл бұрын
I agree 100%! It’s got that nice tight low end, and a more round sound in the highs. I also think the shape is the most comfortable to play personally. I never like playing strats for some reason. I do really like position 2 on a strat but find it gets really low mid heavy when you introduce any sort of overdrive or distortion. So as cool as it is having the 5 way selector, I find I only really use two of the positions where as on my other guitars, I have uses for all 3! And yes- the filtertrons are a vibe of their own. It’s a cool texture to have in the tool belt-

Yep, you can definitely overthink this stuff ;) I have been mostly a Fender guy over the last 15 years or so but our new worship center has extensive lighting which does generate hum in my single coil guitars. I recently added a PRS which tonally is a lot like the Les Paul and I like it but... I miss that Fender chime and clarity. I would bet that you could take the sting out of your Strat with a minor setup change or simply rolling off the tone a tad like so many great players over the last 50 years. Keep on tone shaping!

I play EG at my church, to start with. I have five EG's. One is a Gretsch 5420T, as Gretsch is known for "worship", but that's also the only hollow body you used, so a bit hard to compare. Also have an Epiphone Les Paul Custom Blackback Ltmd Edition. Frankly, I think those lines of models are best for Southern Rock, and why they're mostly used. I dont use it much, as the pickups are just too hot. I have two Fender Tele's. One is the Hybrid, with 3 noiseless pickups and a 5-way switch, the diag positions emulate a Strat. The other is the 40th Anniv Tele, but added a Certano G & B Bender---(plus $225 for the bender, $175 Luthier install). My MAIN worship Gtr is my PRS SE Custom 24. I had an American made Strat that I SOLD after getting the PRS; no comparison with those two. The PRS also has a push-pull on the Tone knob, so can switch from single coil to humbucker, as I use the latter if I want a quick 2 db or so boost. I also use a Line 6 POD GO. That's IT! I was in a Paul Baloche 2-day workshop a number of yrs ago, and Ben Gowell, his EG guy, has a Gretch and a Tele, BUT also his main Gtr is a Deusenberg, hi-end price! ONE last thing-----the LEAST expensive White Falcon is $3,600. I got all my Gtrs for under a Grand, on sale, of course! haha....Thanks....interesting video.
