So my 345 was also clipped of its wings but this totally sold me on the DeLisle unit. Thanks for the good content, it really helped me choose the right thing.

I sold these BRAND NEW out of my brother's Tallahassee music store in the early-to-mid '70s. These are basically structurally great. You just have to tweak 'em! I have a '73 ES-355. You really missed out on not running into two amps: the sound is huge!! I personally LIKE that crappy vintage version of the Varitone switch, but I had mine done by the Gibson Repair and Restoration people.

I love this guitar, and yes it is all down to Marty McFly. That time you let me hold it, I was terrified I was going to drop it. 😂😂😂. Great guitar and you make it sing so sweetly, sir

I remember when you bought that 345 - it's gorgeous, and you make it sing. A few years ago I bought a '64 ES-335 reissue that has become one of my favorite guitars as well. I wish I was hip to the 335/345 guitars when I was younger.

Thanks for sharing. I had never noticed that varitone switch before. Very useful for a great variety of tonal variations. I really like the split block inlays and especially the Gibson embossed pickup covers. I'm going to have to get me some of those! 👍😁👍Gale

I did an extreme complete rebuild of a '62 five years ago, and it came out to be my favourite guitar. In deciding about the wiring harness, I made up a harness of the mono varitone circuit, which I believe is from 355's. This is basically the 335 wiring with the varitone circuit present on the way out to the jack. The original stereo varitone 345 and 355 harness is quite silly, with an arrangement of volume pots and pickup selector, and out of phase pickups that causes the components to fight each other and load down the signal in several ways when any attempt is made to get a mono setup at the amp.

I've never seen a Gibson ES 345 before. I have the ES 335 and a ES339, bet the 345 has escaped me! Nice tones!

I had an Epiphone Dot which is similar to a 355. i thought it was a fantastic guitar. i cant imagine how well a Gibson plays in comparison.

Sweet guitar! I have a 1965 ES-335… because of the trapeze tail piece the break angle of the strings is really shallow, which makes it really easy for the first three strings to pop out of the saddle when I’m bending. Do you have this issue at all? My saddles are nylon. Contemplating new saddles or putting in a stop tailpiece. Or maybe just getting my guy to sand down the grooves in saddles a bit more to help strings stay in. Just wondered if you had this problem at all.

Thanks! Yours sounds awesome too. I much prefer a metal abr 1. My low E will sneak out sometimes, but not very often

Marty certainly managed to get an insane amount of lead sustain with a 335 plugged straight into a 1950s Fender amp 😂

Care to guess how many classic rock recordings of the 60s were done with "that crappy vintage version in there"?
@SteveSterlacci2 жыл бұрын
Probably none, considering these were 70s electronics that were referred to as the crappy vintage version. Unless someone had a time machine...
