Do you need one for rechargeable hearing aids? I was told you only needed one of these devices if you had removal battery hearing aids. Can you shre your thoughts and opinions if one is needed for rechargeable hearing aids?

Hi. I had purchased the Dry&Store pro years ago since it was recommended by hearing aid dispenser at the time. About 5 years ago I replaced it due to a faulty design that showed up over time. I replaced it with a Dry&Store Global II. I highly recommend a dryer for hearing aids as I am active and sweat a lot. Having this had increased the life of my devices. BTE, ITE, RITE, CIC users will all benefit from these. I personally like the Global II because it's a dryer and has a germicidal lamp. I do use a hearing aid cleaner called "Audiologist Choice" in conjunction with the lamp. Besides the fact it dryers and cleanses, it's a great container to help ensure you don't drop your devices on the floor. Hope this helps out too.

Dear Doctor Cliff. I just discovered your channel a couple of days ago and I'm very grateful with you. I tried to find your Facebook page and I can not find it, do you have profiles on social networks differents than KZbin? I have just started working with the deaf community in Spain and the information you provide is as useful and precise as a consumer that helps me to understand this world more and better. Thank you for your work.

Hi Dr. Cliff, I have the Oticon Ruby Rechargeable hearing aids. Can I use any of the 3 drying options you mention in this video (Westone, Audio Dry, Zephyr)? I wasn't sure if they are all safe for rechargeable aids. Thanks! -Willow

I have Phonak Marvel Rechargeable aids and use the Marvel charging case with the built in desiccant capsules. I also have a Dry n Store Global heated drying unit from my last set of aids. Would it do any harm to put the Marvel aids into the Dry N Store every second or third night so as to really dry out the aids. I have been told the rechargeable batteries should not be put into the dryer. I put a thermometer into my Dry n Store and it gets up to 101 degrees F. What are your thoughts??? Thank you.

So, I bought the Zephyr unit before I even received my rechargeable hearing aids and from what I am reading in the comments and your replies, I can place the aids in the Zephyr for at least 1/2 hr every night and then transfer them to the charger case to ensure the best outcome with eradicating moisture. The Phonak Audeo charger case comes with the desiccant in it, but I want that extra push of warm air also......thanks all for this discussion.

Gale - I agree 100% with the action you are doing. It's too bad Phonak didn't think it through so we don't have to remember to perform both actions. Sometimes I like to go straight to bed and so this 2 step process can be a pain.

Best review on Dehumidifiers. We recently had a patient who was always needing service. Every three weeks he would break down. To say the least he was not a happy camper. We gave him one of those dry and store tubs. Amazingly that did the trick. We replaced receivers and sent the Aids Into Phonak for repair. It was so bad they Gave him a year extended warranty. Lesson well Learned. Good stuff Doctor.

I love your videos! I'm so glad I found you!! I've worn hearing aids for almost 11 years. My first set were Audiblels and they lasted 8 plus years. I now have Kirkland hearing aids. My Audibel provider never mentioned the dryers nor did Costco when I bought my aids. When I moved to Vancouver WA the Costco told me I should get a dryer and I did! My Audibels were better than my Costco aids but another set of Audibel were not in my budget.

This video is rather old. I have Phonak Paradise with the charger with disk but still have had moisture problems. Now I am looking at Phonak's Charge and Care but it only moves air with no heat. Is just moving air (in a humid environment) effective? I am looking at heat and moving air as the best solution for me.

Hello, I have a pair of Signia Pure Charge and Go hearing aides. They come with a charger tray..no cover...What dryer can I use for these rechargeable hearing aides?
@danleonard36005 жыл бұрын
I am getting fitted for new Oticon OPN S1 rechargeable hearing aids soon. I tend to be a heavy sweater and I believe my last set of hearing aids have had a significantly shortened life due to moisture damage. I am concerned about being able to recharge the batteries and dry them at the same time. I thought of a potential solution and want your input. I am considering finding an airtight container large enough to hold the charge inside when sealed, then drill a small hole for the charger cord and seal around it with silicone. I would then keep a silica disk inside the sealed container overnight while charging. Would this work or would it damage the charger? It seems similar to the phonak solution. What are you thoughts?

Any recommendations from other subscribers? I would appreciate an update on dryers. Can you compare a few pros/cons of a couple brands, for example, Zephyr, Electronic Kapak Ultra Violet C clean, Serene Renew Hearing Aid Dry Box, etc? Some descriptions say works in 3 hours, most don't say anything about time. Some need a desiccant box and others not. Some will mention a temperature (122 degrees) and others don't. thanks

I just found out that with the rechargeable batteries hearing aids, and if you have arthritis in your hands and cannot easily open the door and remove the batteries every night, you either have to find a dedicated charging/drying combo unit (like Siemens/Signia e-charger for their Signia hearing aids) or can use only the silicon bead non-electric drying unit, as not to damage the batteries.

Rechargeable hearing aids should only be used with their proprietary charging kit dehydrator.

I notice you said to use an alcohol-based wipe on the hearing aids, and everywhere else I have read not to use alcohol on them. Did one of us make a mistake, or is this a matter of disagreement in the trade?

Yes, I would say that the majority of drying can be done in 30 minutes with a Zephyr.

Hi Maria. Using a dehydrator kit for your hearing aids is critical. However, if moisture damage is already done to your devices, you need to get them repaired by the manufacturer first. You can get a Zephyr on Amazon here: amzn.to/2E3M30M. You can get the travel Hearing Aid Saver on Amazon here: amzn.to/2nLQFxE

Excellent video. As a HAD, on delivery day for the client's first set of aids, I would always talk about this at length. And during the first few months of 3 to 4 new-user visits, I would stress to the client the importance of drying their ear canals after their shower/bath and just before putting their aids in for the day.

Dr. Cliff. Great video. What is your take on the Perfect Clean system that incorporates a liquid solution around the receiver and then a fan/drying action? The receiver ends are placed in a well and the solution circulates around the end of the receiver. The receiver is not complete submerged in the solution, as I understand. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

I assume this is for ITE aids not BTE aids. I've had BTE aids for about 4 years (I rarely wear them) and this is the first I've heard about a dryer. My audiologist has never mentioned it, to my knowledge. Of course I don't hear so well, so maybe he did.

Hearing aid dryers should be used for all hearing aids. Most people don't use them, but they should to extend the life of their devices, reduce malfunctions, and keep sound quality high.

Hi Dr. Cliff, I received the Phonak BR 90 rechargeable hearing aids close to 3 weeks ago. So far I am liking them (this is my first hearing aids). So I’m just getting use to them and learning what they can do. My question is where do I purchase the silica discs for the charger? Love the videos you do, they are so informative.

Doctor Cliff, AuD Thank you Cliff. I see my audiologist in another week and she said she has more to tell me about the hearing aids but just wanted me to wear them a bit. She said she didn’t want to overwhelm me with too much information. The silica pads were probably part of that. I’ll put that on my question list just in case she doesn’t. 😊 Thank you again.
