The Canes played better than the Rangers by a mile (at least at 5v5) and STILL lost the game. It's gonna take one hell of a turnaround if we're gonna make a comeback. Starting with actually killing a PP for once in the series.... Canes had by FAR the best penalty kill in the NHL during the regular season, yet suddenly now that's become our most glaring weakness against the Rangers... a penalty on us is basically a guaranteed goal for them. Then there's the issue of going to OT... a guaranteed death sentence for the Canes. It might take 30+ min of the opposing goalie making 25 saves in a row, but eventually one is gonna get by Freddy.

Hockey players are the best athletes. I've played all the major sports and hockey is the only one where I'm gassed after a 2 minute shift. You have to be physical, you have to have fine motor skills with the stick, you have to be fit to endure a game and the game is so much faster mentally than any other sport. Also most other sports are on foot which requires much less skills to master than skating. You get a hockey player on a football field, or basketball court and they can play. You get a football or basketball player on a rink and they can't participate until after weeks of instruction.

My bantam hockey coach used to tell us only water polo is more exhausting than hockey as a team sport. We used to laugh about it but it taught us how tough hockey was

Not gonna lie, hockey players always seem to be the best amateur golfers as well. Shooting with a hockey stick translates very to having the fundamentals for a good golf swing. Much more so than baseball.

These football players dont understand that a 1 game lead means nothing. The determining factor in the nhl is how you respond to getting punched in the mouth. Panthers and stars will determine the series based on how they counterpunch. And then, how they deal with the other teams response. A 5-1 game is worth the same as 4-3 game.
