OHHHHHH BOY. We've had a rat problem for quite some time gamers--I can barely keep feed out for the animals without them getting into it or eating the leftovers. Also--Because we're The Urban *Rescue* Ranch we didn't want to go through the conventional routes of just poisoning or kill trapping--and because of Doorknob we can't have cats anymore :/. Thankfully our friends at Prairie Road Ironworks sent us the famed "Uhlik Repeater."

One time we had a wild rat in our basement and we got orkin to come and they place mouse traps, and one day I heard the rat get caught, it ended up jumping at me with the tiny useless mousetrap stuck on it's leg, and it bit my finger. Don't get me wrong, rats are great and they make amazing pets, but only the tame ones lol. Also, when I was at the hospital i was wearing a shirt that said rats are my friends after i had gotten bitten and my mom thought that was really funny, i really miss my pet rats.

I had a rat problem.. my trick is pnut butter in the bottom of a brown paper bag.. lay it down against the wall. When you hear the rat or mouse eating the peanut butter sneak up on it pull the bag up and close it fast. I always let them go down the road to an empty shed.

hey Uncle Ben @TheUrbanRescueRanch Not sure if this is still an issue for you (given my experience working with zoos and animal rescues/ sanctuaries it always seems to be ongoing) but if so I would like to help. My company manufactures an EPA approved reproductive inhibitor for rats called ContraPest- keeps them from being born in the first place. I would love to work with you and help your facilities- we have helped so many others from small rescues to large national AZA accredited Zoos and many companies in commercial and agricultural pest control. It Won't hurt other animals and we have a lot of great data.

Rodents never do well with rehoming. I rescue rats and small rodents and can tell you all those rats did was find a place to hide until they died a slow death of starvation. Hence why they also stayed in the cage, they didn't want the new place they wanted to go back home. I love what you do but I think you needed to do more research before acting here...
