The BEST HYBRID Settings for Lumix S5ii & S5iiX // A TRUE Hybrid Camera Setup

Here is why I absolutely love Lumix! In this video I share what I believe to be the best settings for the Lumix S5iiX and S5ii to provide a TRUE HYBRID EXPERIENCE.
To the eagle eyed viewers out there, you may have already seen this video, but perhaps witha few bits missing (😂). That's because I forgot a couple of things, and one of you very kind people out there brought it to my attention andI just couldn't let it go 😂 . So, I had to add it in and as a result, re-edit and re-upload. The joys of KZbin ey! Anyway, it was only up a few hours and I thought it was best to have the correct information (to the best of my knowledge) out there for any furture viewers!... So yeh maybe give this one an extra 'Like' just to appreciate the extra effort 😂 (kidding... not kidding)

This is by far one of the best videos I have seen related to the s5ii. I greatly appreciate you going over all of the setting for both Photo and Video. For people that don't see their image change after enabling constant preview, make sure you see what "set" it's under. I was shooting under Aperture priority, but when you adjust it in Constant View, you wouldn't see the difference in the monitor. You have to change the set related to the Constant View when in Aperture priority. It looks like it's what it's supposed to be doing in Manual mode.

Thank you. for a very useful video. I have just got an SH5v2 (partly because of watching your videos!) Of course its takes a bit of time to get get to grips with it as the camera is very flexible and customisable. This camera is my first "proper and semi pro" camera. I have already got a Panasonic video camera and which is really well made and has excellent AIS.. I was going to buy a Sony A7v but the SH5v2 seems to be a better hybrid camera and although the sensor is smaller, it still seems to produce excellent photos (and after all I'm not going to print very large wall photos!). And with an F4 24 - 105 mm zoom lens, was half the price of the equivalent Sony A7rv package . I know that Sony and Canon produce a much bigger range of lenses but I don't intend to lug around loads of different lenses on my trips. Lumix and Sigma have a large enough range for the likes of me (and my pocket). Thanks again from me and my pocket! (and the wife who would rather spend my money on frocks and the like)!

Great video, can I ask what do you think of the auto focus? Is it as good as canon and Sony? I have a canon r3 r5 and r5c and just bought this camera to go with them as I have had lumix in the past and always liked them except the auto focus. So how has the auto focus been would you say, my canons are all great with the r3 being the best I have used in any camera. I’m not expecting this to match my r3 but it should be able to focus like the other two which have been excellent for me.

Thank you! Glad you liked it! Yeh so having had the S1 before I am really happy with the AF performance, it’s worlds apart. However also having had the Sony a7siii and Canon R6ii, I do notice a difference. It definitely favours whatever is closest to the lens. For example just the other day (video coming soon) I went out for a Photography POV and I had the AF set to human priority trying to capture a cyclist going past in the frame but I had some floral foreground elements. And because my focus box ever so slightly covered the floral elements, it favoured that over the cyclist. This could be because the cyclist was moving and I was static waiting for it to enter the frame so it didn’t have time to adjust. But either way, I don’t think the Sony would have done that. However it is still excellent but perhaps just a generation behind Sony and Canon. It’s all about compromises, and I prefer having all the extra features in the Lumix with slightly worse AF over slightly better AF and less features. I hope that helps! Id be intrigued to see how you get on in comparison to your Canon gear.

Can you tell me please, if you are in for example c1 photo manual mode and if you will just press REC video button - will it use video settings so you don't have to switch from c1 to c2?

No, you would need to switch the dial to another custom setting. The main feature here allows you to easily switch between framerates via a custom button without having to change any other custom settings due to having shutter angle. If you wanted to switch between photo and video then you will need to switch to a different custom mode.

vlog doesn't really work for photos

Huh? I don’t use vlog for photos. I shoot raw. This is to show how you can customise the one custom dial for video, so you no longer need a custom dial for 25fps and another for 50fps and so on. Meaning you can keep all your dialled in settings (such as white balance, iso, af etc) the same throughout your shoot. That then leaves you with more custom dials to assign to whatever you like. I chose to assign them to aperture priority and manual for photography so I can switch between photo and video much quicker on the dial. For photography I always shoot raw and edit them later. Vlog is definitely not for photography. If you shoot raw it doesn’t matter what picture profile is activated, it will still produce a raw photo.
