Actually, its a shortage of induction burners. But check around, very hard to find an induction range. We have about 700+ on order with open POs to ship asap. Try to buy a Wolf, A LG, Profile, or Cafe.

Induction ranges, at least those available in the US, are just a big expensive meh. The burner configurations are all terrible unless you spend $8-10K. You get one burner that can handle a 12" pan and the rest will handle at best 10" and most not even that. You end up with a bunch of burners that only heat the very center of the pan. Who cares if you can boil water in 4 minutes if you can't do much anything else while your are doing so. Add in the shoddy long term reliability of residential induction ranges and they are just a non-starter.

I would draw an analogy with the camera function of my iPhone 3G camera function. It was pretty basic, but look at what customer-driven improvements have occurred since. In my opinion, induction cooking is the wave of the future, and I think, and hope, engineers will replicate what Steve Jobs did with the iPhone.
@MichelleK765
@MichelleK765 Жыл бұрын
@@JeannetteShoreland I totally agree that induction is the wave of the future, but what is currently available to the US market is ridiculously expensive for the quality. Even Wolf is a little lackluster. I've cooked on it and IMO the burners are undersized dimensionally and in wattage.
@scotterholm5840

I've just begun looking in this market, and am shocked by the poor features, low quality, and so many undesirable characteristics across most brands. In 2023 the manufacturers can't figure out how to protect circuit boards from the heat of caloric self clean? High decibel fans for the cooktop and ovens are required? Warranties of a single year? Ridiculous burner layouts? I can't find single range under $5k that has attractive features and a decent build quality that might allow it to last for, oh, 5-10 years. Am I just asking too much these days when I spend four thousand dollars?
@YaleAppliance1
@YaleAppliance1 Жыл бұрын
I humbly disagree...You always needed fans for any range IF you cook. Control boards have been around since the advent of the microwave in the 1970s Lastly, people dont typically leave reviews because they are happy.
@scotterholm5840
@scotterholm5840 Жыл бұрын
@@YaleAppliance1 I'm quite disappointed, so I'm glad to hear your view -- you certainly have far more experience than I do. At the same time, a majority of brands have completely eliminated caloric self clean in favour of "steam clean", mainly because the control boards cannot survive the high heat. I understand that range fans are needed, but the loud fans that come on every time a burner is switched on, or the oven is turned on are a novel nuisance to me. Yes, I do realise that the anecdotal bad reviews are over represented, which is exactly the reason I searched for and found this video. Thanks for producing all of them, and for responding to comments.

I, too, have the same issues with my 'top of the line' Whirlpool range. The self-cleaning function has never worked. The quality of materials e.g. cast iron grill and appliance finish are all substandard leaving me with a good case of buyer's remorse.

A thought/suggestion: Give some info on actual coil diameter and maybe even show a heating evenness picture with a good, flat 12" pan. This could be done with sugar or just boiling water. I love the response and power of induction and everything works well with a 10" and (especially) 8" skillet. But 12" skillets on my (admittedly low end Frigidaire) 8 5/16" coil aren't the best. I think that's something most folks don't necessarily understand before buying.

Yes please. Coil size can limit the size of the pan you can use and evenly heat BUT I've yet to see any manufacturer make it easy to find out what size coils are in their cooktops.

Why aren’t manufacturers listing element size on their specs? If a 12 inch pan isn’t possible, I’m not willing to spend 8,000 + on a range. Everything I’m reading says if the pan is larger than the element, it is mediocre for cooking.

I had an issue with my ge profile induction stove. A boil over happened and it was large. About 12 oz boiled over. The water ran over the edge and using surface tension ran on the underside of the glass into the power control circuit box and shorted out the entire cook top. It turns out that the glass cook top is not water sealed to the metal frame immediately under it. So if I was looking for another induction stove, a huge consideration would be to find one that has a water tight seal with the glass top to the metal frame under it. It will save you a 2,000 repair cost from a boil over.

Great as always but not sure why knobs on the LG was a weakness but not the knobs on the the Cafe, Beko. The Bosch industrial "freestanding" induction and F&P has knobs which are actually part of the design appeal.. Given I shortlisted a couple of induction ranges with knobs, I hope there are no major issues with control mechanisms but it is really along the lines of style preference. I have been looking and many of the oven sizes are small. Some have warming drawers and still on the small size & when they are smaller in size, I prefer the oven be at least 5.x cubic feet

I have the GE Induction Cafe, It was working great for 5 month until one day all the burners would start and then stop. I had a 3rd party servicer that GE referred to come in and he said that GE is god-awful with reliability. He said that the electronic boards will almost always fry if there is any sort of power outage. @Yale Appliances, can you comment on this? I loved the range when it was working but the malfunction after 5 months does not have me confident that this range will last.

I see not much has changed since I started doing my research 5 years ago for my renovation 3 years ago. Then (and still now,) your reviews and information were my Bible for my appliance research. ) So thank you for that. I guess Miele‘s new 7000 series didn’t include a new induction range. It’s a pity their induction range does not have bridge elements. But it does have a lot going for it although Miele service in my somewhat remote area was sketchy. I didn’t like the appearance of the Wolf with only 2 knobs; it looked like a cartoon representation of a real range. I see the current model has no knobs at all. It does give it a sleek appearance but no cachet value. It doesn’t look too dissimilar from a Kitchenaid. Because of electrical limitations, it’s hard to find a 42 or 48 inch induction range. Range and ovens are the centerpiece and focus of my very large great room renovation so appearance is as important as functionality. I felt my room dimensions needed something larger. At that time, I don’t think that Ilve induction was available but a quick search now shows a 40 inch induction model and it’s gorgeous. At the time Signature Suites had just introduced their 48 inch dual fuel induction with Sous vide and griddle. I don’t have gas in my area ( but I’m trying to remember if it could be adapted to propane). It was very new so there were not many reviews available ( but it got glowing recommendations from the appliance store associates who had been to a course where they were introduced to them ) I landed up going with a gorgeous 48 inch midnight blue aga Elise induction with 3 ovens and I couldn’t be happier. The price at that time was significantly less than the signature suites and lead time before Covid 😮 was very realistic. It does not have Wi-Fi or even a clock or timer but it’s an amazing range to cook with and is a beautiful focal point. Once again, Thank you for your great reviews and information.
