For the handles and knobs you need to get "the hardware tool true position drill guide" your handles will be so easy to install. After you install shelves use screen molding on the front of the plywood.

@3:58 after making the tiny hole, you can grab a coat hanger (or any stiff enough wire) and put a 90deg bend on it with the radius that's appropriate. If you need a 4" clearance, use a 2" wire with a bend. Then after you insert the coat hanger, you can twirl it around to see if you hit anything. Works well. You can even raise it a bit higher to make sure there are no obstructions 1 1/2" from the drywall by marking the wire with some tape.

@@StudPack Was going to say the same thing as Tim... Also, if you keep a spray bottle of plain water with you, use it to put a fine mist into the air near the ceiling (after you paint); it will knock down the paint fog in any room a little faster. Lastly, you really should use your Groutlet™ to cover outlets before painting. Fantastic work as always. 👍🏻👍🏻

@mattwilliamson1714

@@rockandmeatroll Should help a lot as long as you're using it on "mist" setting... "stream" won't do a thing for you. (Obviously, it won't take everything out of the air, but should be a noticeable improvement. If you're doing a large area, you can put AC filters over the back of a box fan and leave that on the "Low" setting and it'll help too.

I can't wait to see the finished niche. I started doing my backsplash with same shape of tile (not glass) and decided to add a niche above the stove. Came up with the same idea to do herringbone in back of the niche but then I got stuck and wasn't sure what to do on the sides or how to size the niche so there'd be no tiny tiles to fit in on the sides. Love your idea to cut the tiles to size before cutting out the hole for the niche and now that I can see how the herringbone looks with the horizontal tiles on the wall, I'm ready to move forward. Love your videos.

Better to use a punch on a jig, then use the punch dimple to drill out, if you reuse the same jig too many times like these, you will widen the holes and create errors. Using a punch also allows you to double check alignment before drilling.

I appreciate how you try to optimize the use of materials for cost and minimal waste. Too many builders today don't care, either because they just pass the bill with additional costs to the owner, or it gets considered as fair waste. It feels like you have the best interest at heart. If a contractor can fulfil the contract, and save money for himself or the owner by working smart, that makes me happy to see. You also put so much pride into your work with longevity in mind. I appreciate when a guy can take ownership of his mistakes, even if you only make a few. Nobody's perfect, but I wish there were more people like you. You learn from your mistakes and allow us to learn as well. Years and years of experience. Thank you.

For cabinet hardware I have always used a plastic speed square. I decide where I want the hole that works for all the doors and also figure for drawers. The first hole is drilled thru the door and the speed square then then the square is used for all the remaining holes. The square can be use for multiple placements over the years. I tape off all the unneeded holes for each job so as not to make a mistake.

I give 3 years and she'll be calling you back to fill that in. :/ There's a reason they do not make spice racks to fit behind the stove anymore. They nasty. They constantly nasty. And, you constantly have to clean it... constantly. I know you guys do not like polymer grouts, But I would suggest using it on that area at least. With all the grease removers she'll be using on that area, that grout won't last.

Yes,you make all the right points about the grease,but in the end it doesn't really matter what you do, the grease will win out. Why not just add a piece of one by two to the edge to create a nice lip and it does make thr plywood significantly stronger. But I do agree with the cleat method of shelving. I’ve used all types but I find the cleats are the most strong.
