The strange thing is that all of this seems ancient, but when these songs came out Madonna was already around for about 20 years and The Rolling Stones for more than 40. Time is relative indeed.

That's also because the whole k-pop industry is very fast paced. A group crossing the 6th year mark is old, idols in their 30's are considered old too. That's why we have to praise groups like SHINee, Shinwha or SuJu, for breaking the norm and still going strong despite the fact that they've been around before many idols of the new gen were even born

SHINee on the cover. My SHAWOL heart feel so proud to stan a group as strong as they are with such a huge legacy and so many timeless anthems. Their 2008 releases Replay, The Shinee World and AMIGO are so dear to me, so much nostalgia to their sound and image. The have come such a long way

2005-2006 were the early years of second gen, 2007-2009 is when a lot of legendary groups made their debuts or broke out, and 2010-2012 is when kpop was slowly started to expand internationally.

I got into kpop in 2009 during my time in college, i was surprised when one of my friends told me there's a kpop group which consist of 13 members... long story short, it's "Super Junior - U" that i watch and since then i became a kpop fan... Suju, GG, Big Bang, Epik High, Shinee, and FT Island are among my favorites of all time and i cant believe they all still active... I watched so many great kpop group which disbanded and i get sad too... but i still listen to their songs periodically such as 2NE1, Gfriend, IOI, MissA, T-Ara, A-jax, Kara, Nuest, 2AM, DMTN, and so on... and currently i am a huge Dreamcatcher fan :)

TVXQ Mirotic is what got me hooked on K-pop. I'd heard a few Rain songs before then (and maybe others that I don't remember) but TVXQ was the clincher. It's been a huge part of my life ever since. I've made so many good friends through sharing our love of the music and talented artists. It's been half of my life already. Crazy to think there was a time in my life when I had no idea of its existence. I remember having dance parties in my living room with my sister listening to Big Bang. I remember teaching myself hangeul so I could read and understand more. Pretty much not a single day goes by where I don't hear Korean in some way. It's just crazy to think about how big it's become in my life, how it's shaped my growth into adulthood and been with me through everything. Don't mind me, I can get sentimental and nostalgic, especially in the fall. :')

That stretch between 2007 and 2009 was kpop gold. There were fewer groups but they were so talented and distinct from each other that it's hard to choose a favorite. Today's songs are still quite good but they're going for that global appeal now so it sounds more westernized (cookie cutter pop/hiphop).
