I think it’s only because back then there wasn’t as much international content so there wasn’t enough content for you to ‘stan’ a single group. The reality is that fanwars and stan culture has actually been on the decline. Just look at HOT generation of the 90s and you will see the fistfights that occurred between different stans.

Man, what an absolute HYPE year for K-pop. So many summer bops, Hyuna's Bubble Pop, T-ara's Roly Poly, f(x)'s Hot Summer. Then I remember following the S-TIER of a line up that was Davichi's Don't Say Goodbye, IU's You&I, T-ara's Cry Cry, BEG's Sixth Sense, Orange Caramel's Shanghai Romance, and SNSD's The Boys (ALL PROMOTING AT THE SAME TIME MIND YOU). Plus, I recall SNSD's The Boys playing on the jumbotron in a local mall in America, just to top it all off. 2011 HEIGHT of K-pop's golden era? Definitely a contender.

it all started for me with Wonder Girls and their "Nobody" and got hook with KPOP. It was like 2008. 2008-2012 was really a golden era of KPOP specially 2011. T-ARA and SUJU. Probably because they're associated with my childhood. Those time, regardless your a man or not even if you're in Philippines there's no discrimination cause we all vibin and dancing without knowing what exactly the lyrics are saying. It was great, really great.

The quality of BIGBANG and 2NE1 songs and MV was the reason why I became a kpop fan. Their songs and MV are different from the typical kpop group that time. I can say 2011 was the best year for YG despite some scandal from BIGBANG, they withstand and comeback stronger in 2012.

I'll always be partial to 2nd gen and 3rd gen girl groups. The ethereal, cute, and powerful innocent concepts were what got me into kpop, because it was such a refreshing departure from western music.
