July 2001 I was diagnosed with bone spurs in my right shoulder. The pain was such that I could not sleep and my doctor said I had two options surgery or how much pain could I live with. Since earlier in January 2001 I had had two operations for throat cancer I was not looking forward to another trip under the knife. I began looking on the internet for other options and I came across an article where an elderly gent had rehabbed his bad shoulders doing kettlebell swings. I thought it could be worth a try so I got a 16kg Kbell from Dragon Door and started in on doing two hand swings three times a week. By the end of the 1st week I was able to sleep through the night and by the end of week five I was pain free and I am still pain free although the bone spurs are still there. Soon I bought another 16kg Kbell from Dragon Door so I could do doubles. In the spring of 2002 at a yard sale I bought a 20kg Ader Kbell and a 24kg RKC "Russian Red" Kbell for $25 a piece! They have served me well all these years and I have no complaints.

I have several Rep Fitness KBs and have been really happy with them. They have a nice coating, consistent cast mold, and good color finish on the band. I just ordered my first couple from Rogue because they came in stock first, and I could not be more disappointed! Not sure if COVID mass producing and new hires have lowered the Rogue quality, but they are night and day compared to my Rep Fitness ones. The Rogue ones are not a perfect mold, they look messy in some spots. The color band looks cheaply spray painted on. The biggest issue is that they are rough in some spots and are uncomfortable during a lot of movements. I'm stuck with my janky Rogue ones cause they charge shipping return. I'm excited to try out Kettlebell Kings, especially after finding out about their warranty and free returns. I highly recommend Rep Fitness, but note that the processing takes forever during COVID if you're even lucky enough to catch them in stock (1 month+).

Thumbs up! I've been looking around for kettlebells. Kettlebell Kings is tempting, and not ruled out yet, but the price point is tough. I've also been looking at Rep (showing up in my IG feed lately). Those kettlebells are a very strong contender for me. Gonna take your advice, buy as much in one purchase and factor in the shipping between my options before making my final selection. Thanks

We like competition bells for comfort. Comp bells are all the same size regardless of weight, like bumper plates. Lower weight hardstyle bells are also small. When my wife snatches, cleans, presses, squats, etc. a 26 lb. hardstyle bell like you’re reviewing, it lands on her wrist and hurts, but when she does it with a comp bell, it lands right on the meat of her forearm. If you’re only swinging the bell, I’d agree that they’re not worth looking at. If you’re doing any other kind of kettlebell training, totally worth looking at. The only downside is that they’re not comfortable at all for 2-handed swings. We have Vulcan “training” bells in pairs from 8-28kg. Our 32 and 40kg are hardstyle.

Coming from an RKC instructor background, I have always used Dragon Door bells. They are high quality, BUT ridiculously expensive. When I bought all of my bells 7-8 years ago there weren't as many options as there are now. Now that I am in the market for a 36kg, I am excited to give Kettlebell Kings a try. I have heard nothing but great things about them, and the finish of their bells appears to be right in line with Dragon Door.

Did you get a kettlebell kings? How does it compare to Dragon Door? I’m looking for a wide handle that is more smooth (I will use chalk). Which is better?
@jasonvansant6028
@jasonvansant6028 Жыл бұрын
@@dbsasuke I purchased the Kettlebell Kings 36kg and then sold it a couple of months later. Here's why. The finish and quality was fantastic and it was perfect for swings and goblet squats. The problem that I had with it was the spacing between the handle and the bell was wider than any other bell that I have used. So when I was doing getups, presses, or holding the bell in rack position, the bell sat too low on my forearm - more on the meaty part of my arm versus sitting just below my wrist like Dragon Door and Rogue bells do. I was bummed because the bell appeared to be high quality and really well made. It was just really uncomfortable when doing anything overhead or holding it in rack position. I ended up purchasing a 36kg and then a 40kg from Rogue and both of them sit on my arm exactly like my Dragon Door bells - just below my wrist. To answer your question, I would prefer Dragon Door over Kettlebell Kings for this reason, at least for their larger bells. I haven't used any of the smaller bells. That said, I like the Rogue bells that I purchased. The handle is nearly identical to Dragon Door bells, in terms of thickness, yet not quite as smooth. Other than swings, I am not doing a lot of high rep training with a 36kg or 40kg so the handle not being as smooth isn't a huge deal to me. The handle on the Kettlebell Kings bell that I bought was a little thicker than a dragon door bell and just as smooth. So that may be what you are looking for in terms of handle. Hope this is helpful.

Just an FYI, CAP Cast Iron KBs at Walmart.com are on rollback right now and well under a 1$ a lb even after taxes and shipping and all. I have the 50, 60, 70, and 80. They work great for the price. Im not too rough on them as far as dropping but so far they have all held up fine and build quality for the price is great. They aren’t powder coated but if you’re worried about grip just get some chalk and you’ll be fine. Would recommend for someone on a budget. But then again I have never tried a different brand so I don’t really have something to compare to
@mmartel
@mmartel 4 жыл бұрын
I own several brands including the CAP bells from Walmart. They are cheap and work fine but they are not durable as far as chipping goes. And if they get chipped, they are harder on the hands than other brands. Even if they cost more, I wouldn't recommend CAP to anyone else and wish I'd bought either REP fitness or Kettlebells USA, both of which I own also and like a lot more. Kettlebells USA is a lot more expensive but if you want to do work with double KBs, their enamel finish is incredibly chip resistant and I can't recommend it highly enough. Personally if I were buying all over again, I'd splurge and go all in on Kettlebells USA. But if you want to go cheaper, go with REP or Rogue over CAP. The extra durability and usable handling after chips occur on those bells is superior.

I believe Rouge “ used “ to be made in the good ole USA. Some of their old ads are still on the internet. Have you checked out CFF bells? I have four different brands and they are the most comfortable due to their redesign of the handles and windows. They sit really nicely on your arm especially in the rack position. They have an extremely tough powder coating that’s really nice. Really nice bells but probably more at the kettlebell kings price range.

Having spoken with the folks at Kettlebell Kings, they've tried to find an American manufacturer to work with. You'd think in Austin there would be one, but for whatever reason, the local foundries aren't too interested in it right now. That's why most everything is coming from China. For the price difference, I'd spend the extra for KB Kings now that I've tried them out. I have bells from 4 different manufacturers, and the Kings are by far the best to play with. Hey Coop, nice review as usual. Here's some anecdotal information; I met a guy who works at a foundry in RI. I was wearing a Rogue hat. He said 'hey we make kettlebells for them...and a bunch of other companies too'. He said they also make Punch Kettlebells, and if they make Rogue's I'd guess they make Rep's too since they look so similar. Personally I have KB kings competition bells which I thought you said in a previous review were made overseas though I've done no further research on that.

@EliteThrowsCoaching
@EliteThrowsCoaching 5 жыл бұрын
I used to work for the guy (huge asshole) that first got in touch with the RI foundry and started the process of making the American made kettlebells. They were Punch kettlebells with the bulldog logo. When I saw Rogues they were identical to the Punch and I have to assume (once my old boss burned every bridge he ever created) the foundry shopped the design around and Rogue started using that foundry. One reason why they maybe don’t say made in America is that the R.I. foundry is super small. Probably can’t keep up with demand. Rogue may have had to go overseas for the more popular sizes but maybe gets the less popular sizes still from the R.I. foundry.

If you can catch a sale (and a buddy to go halfsies on pairs) at kb kings I’d say they are the only way to go. Play with the build a set or pairs in cart. Much cheaper. Search for other coupons. Right now ‘insta’ gets you another 10% off. So we each got a 71, 53 and 35 for $166 (from each of us) the last sale they had. The more you spend the more discount. Been using them now about 2 months. Hands down my favorite pieces of equipment. I even have a barbell collection. Not as big as Coops. But that’s saying a lot of how great these kbs are. In the end the kb kings sale free shipping will be cheaper than rogue and rep. But I got a good deal on a rep fitness 62lb on clearance back in 2016 Black Friday. Rep said it was the old style. The feel and look, even the lettering is exactly the same as kB kings, minus the logos of course. I’d say they came from the same factory.

It's just not an item I am willing to spend more on except for the truly horrible ones that have mold lines and sharp junk on the handle. Other than that, the cheaper the better. Kettlebells USA makes the best cast iron kettlebell, hands down: the Metrixx Elite Precision. It has the best handle dimensions, and the e-coating will withstand the apocalypse. I've used kettlebells regularly for about 9 years and have regularly used bells by Ader, Muscle Driver, Apollo, Christian's Fitness Factory, GPK, Rogue, Rep Fitness, Dragondoor, and Kettlebells USA. The Metrixx Elite is the best across the board. And it is priced comparably with the Kettlebell Kings powder coat bells. I do think you're onto something with the observation that the Rep, Rogue, and Kings bells are nearly identical -- with the exception of the branding and the powder coat formula. All of them are a solid option. However, I'm not a fan of the handle dimensions -- especially at 20kg, 24kg, and 28kg. (I do really like my Kettlebell Kings 32kg though) That said, I have many Kettlebell Kings bells and think they may make the best competition bell on the market. The Kettlebells USA Paradigm Pro is really good as well. I appreciate your reviews -- particularly the Rogue Echo bike review. That may have sold a bike for Rogue!

I've got several rogue kettlebells. I don't beat them up at all really and there is already some chipping and the paint/coating coming off. Not sure if kk quality is the same. I can say the rogue ones work and are all made. Last time I check they were quite a bit cheaper too. Think I was looking at 88lbers and rogue was around $100 plus 40ish shipping. Kk was nearly $200 for an 88 but the shipping was free

For someone getting into kettlebells, what what lbs do you recommend? Average strength. 250lb bench, 300lb+ squat. Thanks for the video.

I've found that at least where I am the heavier bells are actually cheaper from Kettlebell Kings than Rep Fitness. The finish and especially the weight guarantee on top of that makes Kettlebell Kings the best option in my opinion.

Shipping between rogue and rep is big for you. I’m guessing you’re close to Columbus Ohio. From rogue it would be cheaper for me to drive there and pick it up myself. The shipping is kore than the bell. Kettlebell kings are the cheapest option pound for pound where I’m sitting

Thanks for this review. What are your thoughts on Onnit? Their prices are definitely better than KB Kings, and they do charge shipping, but it's still cheaper in the end even with the shipping costs. I have two 24kg bells from them and the quality is very nice - powder coated and gravity-cast, but I'd love to hear your thoughts.

@@GarageGymReviews Thank you. By the way, based on your videos, I have decided on some equipment for my basement gym that will be coming together in the next several months. I've selected the Rogue Ohio Custom, the Rogue 2.0 Training Plates and the PowerBlock Elite (found a single, brand new on Facebook, just need another). I'm curious to know if you have any thoughts on the PRx Performance folding rack, as I'd like that with the kipping bar and cerakote. I've also decided on a 3/4" plywood subfloor over my basement's concrete slab, with 3/4" stall mat on top for the entire floor surface of the space. Thanks for all your helpful information!

Great video coop! I figured out the cost for the bells I want with shipping was only $18 less than going with KB kings and getting free shipping. I think I'll wait for a sale and snatch some up.

Now even though its hard to get for the moment, any suggestions of weights if you're going to get maybe 2-3 different weights. like a 16k and 24kg or an 8 kg and a 16kg?
@geol5448
@geol5448 4 жыл бұрын
i would pick a 10kg for warmup and mostly shoulder stuff , a 16kg as a medium ground and a 20-22kg for heavier exercises - failure sets etc. Trust me a weight that you work in a dynamic way doesnt have to be very heavy to do the work . But i am a medium lifter , 175cm 80kg 80kg press 100kg squat 140 kg deadlift. Depending on your numbers you might need a bit less or more

Rep fitness kettlebells have a lifetime warranty. I have 3 and they're heavy and have a handle and seem high quality. Finish is a nice powder coated, I leave them outside a lot and still looking good.

Do you believe that tiny weight kettlebells are really no better than dumbbell equivalents? I’m talking like the 5-10 pound range. When I see women using those size kettlebells I can’t help but wonder if it makes any difference at all; don’t you need some base level of mass for the KB to have any real effect?
