These are easy to make and work great in my opinion. Let me know what you think. Thanks for watching!

Great video, love how you broke it down. I’ve seen a couple smiths use the new dyes. Glad to see you had great success with yours. Looking forward to trying that done day. 😊

Tony with all the tech your are using ,this is probably the best steel and hardest I’ve seen. Yet can’t wait for mine 🙏😉🌞

I'm not sure exactly what he's using, but Liam Hoffman dips his drifts and piercing dies in something to help prevent sticking. I seem to remember there was some graphite powder in the mix.

Yeah it’s a coal dust mixture with some graphite. I use that on holes I’m drifting but I don’t want to press anything into the steel that may get trapped. Probably wouldn’t but I’m a skeardy cat. 😂. Thanks man.

These look great! I've been meaning to make a set of these and chevron pattern dies. I love the idea of using 1/4" round stock. 👍🏻

Thanks Denis. They work great too. I also have a set of Chevrons in the works. JW has several different ones built that way. Texas wind too. They are easy to make, just time consuming.

Turned out pretty good bud! As I was watching this I started wondering how much the pattern would change on the billet if you used different size drill rod and graduated up the size so your first rod on the die was 1/4" the 2nd rod was 3/8" third rod 1/2" and the 4th rod be 5/8 or something along those line
@TonySeverioKnives Жыл бұрын
I’ve seen a set made with 1/8 rod for making folder billets. Turns out great!

those dies did a great job tony what type drill rod did you use? i may have to make me some for my press Mark 👍👍✌
@TonySeverioKnives Жыл бұрын
Thanks Mark. I used 316L rod 1/4 diameter. JW uses drill rod but I figured the stainless would work. So far so good. We’ll see how it goes.

Yes sir they make a difference. I built two and this one is my favorite. If I build another I will make some changes but not much.
