I’m loving this mini-series! I first got into making my own LEGO MOC’s back in the day after watching your Scarif Build Series all that time ago. I would get inspired by the things you’d make but I always personally struggled to replicate the same level of detail and quality in my own creations, still to this day. Videos like this help visualise your thought process when making certain elements, especially tricky ones such as botanical/ greenery work. I can tell you that this video alone is going to help a ton of people, so thanks! 😄

There was a meme that explains what I’ve seen with SBS and it’s the expertise experience. The more experienced and master-of-your-craft you become the more disconnect you experience with the common populace and what is common knowledge among them. SBS is definitely a master builder but his reviews always feel disconnected when he talks about the price and the money that gets sunk into lego. “Buy a few cups if you see them on the pick a brick wall” not everyone has the luxury of buying more than 1 small cup off the pab wall more than once a month, if that, and it shows in how he talks about moc building. It’s great advice, but this just feels, I’m noticing the gap between us.

@@digenis5203 I seen solid brix not recomand a set for being priced to high if fact it's getting more common.... Also it's important to remember this is likely his only hobby so he can afford the pick a brick wall... Which I recently got a good number of bricks from Lego's ite and they were not badly priced for bircks I did not already have. Now for me the issue is assuming your live next to a lego store which is a big ask... But then again it does not matter that much as Lego's site is fine and their's also Amazon and ebay and the other brick link.
@dominickbadial5980 Жыл бұрын
yeah I have very hard time taking his reviews seriously because every set is always amazing and a good price. MandR always seems to give honest reviews even when he was part of LAN. LifeOfLego was a good channel but he disappeared from the face of the Earth.

Any hobby is expensive, right? How much do people spend on golf clubs, new cars, or Warhammer miniatures? If you are building custom Lego creations, I think it is safe to say you spend enough money on this product to be interested in $60 worth of custom pieces at a time.
@gdn86Ай бұрын
@@jacobbuck6362 I just used pick a brick and I can see how expensive it can get, but going back and forth between it and Bricklink, the free shipping ends up being a big benefit for smaller orders. I went through a few different carts until I landed on a reasonable price for what I was trying to build and had to supplement a $10 (half was s&h) order on Bricklink to get specific pieces. I figure if I spend $100 on a small MOC in this style, compared to what I have spent on a full set that doesn't feel quite as personal, I think that is worth it. Per piece I ended up spending nearly the same amount. Ultimately, everything comes apart and can be reused later if I get the itch, and I have a near complete Endor set and a ton of ideas from the combination of tree MOCs and that set.

Botanicals are some of the most used pieces in Lego mocs so I am very glad to see this
@gdn86Ай бұрын
Thank you for the break downs. I've been looking at tree MOCs on rebrickable for some ideas, and landed on a combination of different styles. I likely spent far more than I should have to get a full build, but I grabbed an incomplete Endor set for cheap and a bunch of the pieces mentioned here and we will see what I can come up with. The size of the Endor base is perfect for some little tree/grass/flower builds.

Thank you, I enjoyed the discussion. It's exciting that Lego keeps introducing new botanical pieces. I saw that the Lego Marvel Gargantos Showdown set (76205 ) could also be useful for making trees similar to the palo verde (found in semi-arid areas). Thank you for the practical information.

The old flower stalk stacks just fine, you are not putting the newer version in a good light by essentially claiming the old version does not stack.

I’m new to MOCs, what is the kind of printing you talk about with this custom minifig?
@cmdrTremyss2 ай бұрын
It's called Pad printing. It's an interesting technique to print 3d surfaces. There is a wikipedia article on it. Apparently they use it for custom minifig printing as well.

Do you only use lego parts? For homemade products, you need a lot of parts, and some of them in my country are simply not for sale. I wanted to know if someone uses Chinese plants, how are they in quality? Where there are pins, of course, I use Lego, but the logo is not visible on the plants)
