This was a good tutorial on how to work a scene. In the POV video a lot of those shots were not apparent to me and I would have missed them. Plus the shots you did take were excellent.

So kool! One of my favorite days taking pictures ever was in London. I was staying in the hotel nestled in the northeast corner by Tower Bridge. I walked all along the north side of the Thames for about 8 miles and then back along the south, overlapping a lot of the places in this video. Your images are nicer :-) I may have to try dragging the shutter more, those were interesting. Thanks for the tour around town and memory lane!

Awesome, thanks. The last, bw converted image is my favourite. If I once will make it to London, I will get your book first. According to the UK weather, what’s the month with the highest probability to get sunsets like in the video instead of clouds and rain?

Genuine question, I've read in David Gibson's book that you should mostly shoot verticals in street photography, but I tend to focus more on horizontals. I see you do both. Do you tend to shot one over the other, or just whatever feels right?

Honestly I don’t think into it much. Just gut feeling and whatever works works

Hi Roman. How did the battery hold up on the blad when you were out? Mine were going down like nine pins on the same day by the Thames with my Lumix :-)) The shadow pictures at the intro and the slow shutter speed images were gorgeous. Have a good start to the new year.

Very enjoyable video, as usual, and congratulations on your recent move to medium format. But - and this is a serious question - given that you are still adding artificial grain to your images as part of your "look", doesn't that lose much of what MF gives you? Couldn't you achieve much the same with APS-C?
@snapsbyfox2 күн бұрын
Thanks! I haven't moved to medium format as for my style of personal work and travel, it's a hindrance, not a help. I am keeping it for now as I want to learn more about it. To answer your question though, it's a bit like having a Range Rover. Most of the time you'd use it for driving to the shops which can be done even in a small Ford Fiesta. However knowing in the back of your mind that it can go almost anywhere, is why you get one. Same with this. If I get a client approach me for let's say some kind of still life shoot, I know I have this camera and can even charge them a premium for bringing it. For travels though, that's where the Sony / fuji come in

I had a look at the Barbican estate when I last went to london, but most of it seemed to me to be closed off to resisdents only. Is there a secret way in or trick to getting in there? Or do you have to know somebody who lives there?

Lovely, I still cant figure out how you manage your blues! Do you localize any?
@snapsbyfox3 күн бұрын
Sometimes I localise an over powering sky But in general I try to balance them with the wanted tones especially in winter. In the summer I mute the blues more. In the winter it can look unnatural so at times like in this video, I even boost them. It’s an overpowering look that I’m yet undecided on so will see

Gorgeous pics Roman! I'm increasingly mesmerized by your work! Quick question: after having spent some time with the Hasselblad X2D and the Sony a7Rv, do you feel a very drastic difference between the two cameras when it comes to image quality, depth of color, and dynamic range when you edit and subsequently output the files from LR? Or is the difference mainly in the shooting experience? I ask because I am on the fence between the two to add to my Q3 and a7cii (which I both love) for high quality stills and it's sometimes hard to tell from a KZbin video. Many thanks in advance!
@snapsbyfox3 күн бұрын
Thank you! In short, the A7Rv is the best of the bunch. The hassy is more for very slow photography as the AF can be hopeless at times. The Leica is like a mini hassy in that regard. In the long run I see myself only keeping the Sony. It’s just a better tool all round I feel. But opinion could change with time
@jurrevandermeer48573 күн бұрын
@@snapsbyfox thanks so much! This is really helpful. Haha I agree, that Q3 af can go mad sometimes and I end up switching to mf instead.

I don't understand. You recently showed us your new travel and professional kit for 2025. If I remember correctly some kind of Sony A7V or something, a bevy of lenses and the trialling of a Q3. However, there was no mention of a Blad? Where and why did it appear now?
