The best Long Swords in Sunbreak

I really love grinding through the endgame of Sunbreak rn and all your build guides / tips&tricks vids are helping me progress without struggling. Just a quick question, is there a good way to farm afflicted parts for the augments and talisman farming? Can't find anything useful as for information towards farming them. Thanks for the hard work and dedication you put into making your content. Keep it up ❤️

Hi René, thanks a lot for the support :) In Sunbreak there are many types of afflicted materials: Pelts, Bones, Shells, etc. Monsters are divided into groups, and each group of monsters can drop one specific afflicted material. I used to identify the easiest monster to hunt for me inside each group and farm these specific monsters to obtain all the afflicted parts. For example, for the afflicted claw, there are Almudron, Rakna Kadaki, Goss Harag, and Aurora Somnacanth. The easiest monster for me is Goss Harag, so I just farmed him and not the others to get the afflicted claw. The same applies to the other groups. Regarding the charms, the only good option is without a doubt the Qurio Melding. These charms are the best. Thank you again, have a good one!

the one thing I really enjoyed about sunbreak was grinding both high ele and low ele+higher raw weapons for different monsters with different weaknesses. I really missed that in MHW. I still grinded them which was really nice once alatreon dropped, kinda felt like a "I've prepared for this all my life" moment, but it was a shame how pure raw was simply better for most other monsters shame I can't enter the amazing giveaway because I don't have a twitter account and really don't want to have one either, but already congratulations to the lucky winners in advance!

I'm so glad elemental weapons are so good in Sunbreak. It took away from the fun in world/Iceborn that Raw was So dominant.

I have an investigation with Espinas and Primordial in the Infernal Springs. I did it yesterday and I got 4,100 anomaly points and leveled up 3 times. If I can keep doing it, it’ll be a good day of hunting indeed! :D

Hello Peppo and Tomtoc. My favourite bag series is definitely the Royal Order Sling Bag. Although they come with 3 sizes, I love the L size most as I can put more items just like when I go for a hunt in my game :) What's more is that I love the Base Commander costume as well. The colours of black, gold, red and white attracts my attention and gives out a very classic feeling. Would love to have one~

Kind of hurt that my baby Pure Sword Ichimonji didn't show up lol but great list anyways. I mainly use it for its high purple sharpness, decent raw, bonus affinity, and good slots. Great video as always!

Yeah I had to do a selection with fire LS. We have too many choices. Ichimonji LS is good, definitely, but it’s slightly worse than Rath LS for more raw-oriented match up and slightly worse than Magma LS for more element-oriented fights. It’s in the middle. It’s comfy because of those slots and purple sharpness, but can’t say it’s that good overall to be at the same level or even better than the other choices I mentioned in the video :)

Malo LS loses out on base raw to Seething Bazel, but it's significantly easier to build for since it doesn't come with negative affinity and has decent slots Overall it's the second best blast LS i think, and for most players it may as well be the best with just how annoying the build for Seething Bazel is to make

I really wanted to see whats the optimal and/or comfy build and combo for longsword with each different playstyle (sacred sheath, iai counter, or even both with the switch skills) Also, I've saw your infection longsword spam build and it looked so cool. There is an important point to make about elemental Long Sword (and elemental weapons in general), and it's the rampage slot. The thing is if you are going to be hitting parts with an element weakness of 25 or higher, you will always want to run the Element Exploit rampage decoration because the 15% extra elemental damage is way too good to pass on, and this is a tier 3 decoration. You can always use qurious weapon crafting to upgrade the rampage slot if the weapon doesn't have a tier 3 by default, but at the expense of other bonuses (5 raw and 15 element for LS) Because of this, elemental weapons with an innate tier 3 rampage slot might have a slight edge over the ones that only have a tier 2, as they can get better bonuses from qurious crafting. This is particularly relevant for thunder element, due to the fact that weapons from both Zinogre and Narwa have a tier 2 rampage slot. As an example, we can compare the Oppressor's Abyss with the True Devil Slicer as the two contenders for best thunder LS: Oppressor's Abyss (Element+6, Rampage deco+1) -Raw: 345 (320 Base + 25 Anomaly slots) -Element: 93 (55 Base + 18 Anomaly slots + 20 Element augment lv6) -Sharpness: 30 hits of purple. -Slots: 1-1-0 -Rampage Slot: Tier 3 True Devil Slicer (Element+8, Attack+1) -Raw: 350 (320 Base + 25 Anomaly slots + 5 Attack augment lv1) -Element: 103 (50 Base + 18 Anomaly slots + 35 Element augment lv8) -Sharpness: Long white, can reach purple with Handicraft 1. -Slots: 2-1-0 -Rampage Slot: Tier 3 So, the True Devil Slicer actually has higher damage potential than the Opressor's Abyss, against monsters with a high thunder weakness. The caveat is that it requires more skill investment to maintain purple sharpness (your best bet is probably Handicraft 1 + Protective Polish 3).

You are right but slotting in Handi 3 to reach the same amount of purple sharpness is hard. I considered that choice. If you compare the 2 using white and purple sharpness you see that Zinogre LS is actually better. Then of course if both reach purple then the True Devil Slicer is superior 😊

Yes and No. Some of the gear he is using in the video are from endgame monsters which are a pretty tough challenges even when equipped properly. On top of that (this isn't a requirement but rather a strong suggestion) there is anomaly grinding which can really add up after a while. Still fun, but you'll cross that bridge when you get there.

Getting 100% affinity is the way to go either if you go elemental or raw. Focusing on Crits is not wrong, but you need to invest in element as well sometimes :)
