Sns main here. You missed something important. Sns CAN wound parts in one clutch claw attack without the clutch claw boost skill. You just need to clutch on to the monster with the clutch claw uppercut, then do your clutch claw attack. It will wound in one go. Clutch claw uppercut can be tricky to land and requires some practice, but mastering it is essential for advanced Sns play. Sns and dual blades are the only 2 light weapons that can wound in one attack.
@LightItUpDan10 ай бұрын

Interesting tidbit about Hunting horn. It has one of the strongest clutch claw attacks in the game. And strangely enough it's mounting finisher attack is unbelievably strong, one of the strongest in the game. It isn't out of the ordinary with a powerful endgame build for the mounting finisher to deal over 1000 damage. Raw hunting horn is very strong, but in certain matchups against monsters that have very good elemental hitzone values. Elemental Hunting horn can be exceptionally powerful. The echo spin attack scales quite well with elemental damage and can do BIG numbers.

The charge blade is a swiss army knife with it's multiple unique playstyles. The most important thing to do is just keep your shield charged. From there, all the weapons moves and abilities get fully unlocked. It is a complex weapon with many moving parts, the timers and gages you have to keep track of, but I can confidently say it's the most satisfying weapon to master. For those up for a challenge, the Charge Blade should be your go-to

Hunting Horn main here! While the songs and notes might look a little scary at first it’s actually quite simple and intuitive and only takes about a day to really get the feel for things. Depending on which Horn you pick, after a bit of playtime you’ll develop your own combos to link your notes together to queue up your songs for a recital. If you have a Horn with a Red Note (and also bought Iceborne) you gain access to the Impact Echo Wave which is a very simple and strong offensive move for when a monster is downed. Line up three, pop your three blasts, encore for the big one on the head. Positioning and getting a feel for your speed is key but thanks to Self Improvement which comes on all horns, you’re basically never going to bounce off a monster’s hide so you spend less time worrying about hitzones and more time setting up songs or moving into a good spot to land the big parts of your combos.

Primarily a Bow and Dual Blades main since 2013. Love the stamina management and balancing offensive skills with evasion/stamina skills in the latest two games. I also enjoy a bit of Charge Blade and LBG. I've been playing through Worldborne with Greatsword, recently, and I must say it's the most difficult weapon I've tried to use due to it's slow attacks and importance when it comes to positioning. The only reason I've gotten as far as I have as easily as I have is thousands of hours of prior experience with the game. For being, on the surface, the simplest weapon, I think GS is the hardest to learn because it requires lots of game sense rather than just learning the weapon.

Tbf for me all of the weapons are hard in their own way, well except the hbg, lbg has some skill to it while hbg is just spam and guard. I can say Swaxe, LS, and bow are one of the aggressive weapon archetypes where you do it all just for damage but lack on the defensive side. Mastering the combos of these weapons will give you the highest dps possible and faster clear runs than other weapons. Could say the same for GS since most people think charging is the only way to use the weapon, it goes so much more like attack placements and predictive movement partbreaks and what not.

6:22 also about spirit helmbreaker, after the spirit thrust, you can actually influence the direction your character jumps by inputting a direction after the thrust. i’ve only seen it work sideways and forward, not backward, but sometimes that info is useful. also when in the air, pressing rt+y or triangle again and using your joystick to input a direction will allow you to change the direction you’re facing midair so you don’t miss your helmbreaker.

I've used every weapon pretty extensively over nearly every game with probably well over 10k hours into the series as a whole. I tend to start off with the GS at the start of new games to get a feel for what monsters there are but in the end go with what works best for each individual monster. Sometimes you need ranged attacks, fighting countless Fatalis' back in the old days teaches you you need to bust those horns and wings for parts. As heavy and satisfying as GS hits are I've found with some i can take them out significantly faster with the duals. But who doesn't love a HH main coming into a party of 4 and buffing/healing everyone? It all comes down to what feels best for you despite the situation. I will say, if you play older games and are doing underwater hunts that pooping a mega dash and charging underwater with a Lance is great fun. Nothing better than counting the hits on a Dire Miralis as the counter goes up and up and up lol.

I think what makes HBG a little more difficult to pick up for new players than you give it credit for is the reduced defense combined with poor movement. If a single one of those strong dodges can’t get you out of danger, you’re in trouble, so you absolutely have to know when to sheathe and reposition. It’s extremely easy for newer players without good game sense to get carted back to back because the monster deals so much damage to you. Good video though

(hasn't watched the video yet) I like to say dual blades is straight up the easiest of the lot. No weapon in any game I've ever played has a turn-around like Hunting Horn in Monster Hunter World/Iceborne does. If you're new to this series and are bad at games, Hunting Horn will destroy you. The game will be infinitely harder than using a HBG. The *skill floor* is as high as other weapons' ceiling. Yet... at the same time... if you're a grizzled veteran who has mastered the game, Hunting Horn will get you on top of tierlists and friend requests. The *skill ceiling* doesn't exist.

Greatsword main here , if you wanna feel like your doing alot when in reality your just one hit away from carting , use the insect glaive , but if you wanna have fun with many lady's. You use the greatsword. . . . . . . . . . . I'm kidding of course , you use whatever you want , as long as you have fun and try out different weapons who know you maybe like me who started with sword and sheild and now use the GS.

Hbg having more range than lbg is WILD xD I don't know what u were smoking lol I mean if you play with periphery ammo it's maybe the same? But more?? Most ppl play with spread ammo too, so it's kinda missing that info xD
@LightItUpDan4 ай бұрын
It generally does and has access to the barrels too. Spread is just meta, plenty of people are going to pick it up and play with normal ammo. You people really out yourselves with being utterly clueless to what newer players encounter playing the game lol
@lorestiralongo16184 ай бұрын
@LightItUpDan Fair enough, I wanted to comment on the safety aspect of it. Lbg is less "sluggish" to Handel and the bit of range u have to the monster with hbg is mostly a false sense of security as the monsters are faster than u xD. Great video in general Dude 👌.
@LightItUpDan4 ай бұрын
@@lorestiralongo1618 Yeah I feel you man, LBG has fantastic mobility whereas HBG you're quite stuck in place. Thanks dude, appreciate you!
@themuffinprincesa214 ай бұрын
Meta vs the weapon itself is different. Yes HBG spread is closer range, but normal & peirce shots are quite father range than LBG. To the point that you'll often not be able to stay in critical distance without traps when solo because the monsters will be too close for it. If strictly speaking meta, then only spread is closer while the sticky/ cluster is still farther than LBG as well

I'd like to add, for absolute beginners almost every weapon is easy to pick up. You just won't be doing tons of damage. GS is the shining example. The bread and butter is basically hit and run, so if you can teach a new player that GS is easily the best for new players. New players shouldn't worry about spending a lot of time in the training room, especially if someone guides them on the basics. The longer you focus on combos the more likely you'll forget to put them into action, or worse get hit because you don't know the timing. I'm a big fan of CB and HH, so I would be qualified to teach only those lol. Great job not only covering the basics of every weapon, but giving a good summary of their abilities too!
@wesjturnerturner21616 ай бұрын
CB is simple, and I will fight anyone who argues about how complex the move-set is. All you need to know is SnS with an extra step, if the phial's turn red charge them into the blade. There you go, simple. For a new player they don't need to know how to use a Super or Ultra, or even use axe mode, let alone guard points. Keep the information reduced until they are ready to add one extra step. The same logic goes for fighting game combos, add 1, apply it, add another step.
@wesjturnerturner21616 ай бұрын
HH on the other hand is just a Hammer with extra reach. I would say forget the music, learn what each button does, and play hit and run. The second step is just adding self-improvement to the loop. That way hit and run now doesn't bounce and increased movement speed. Once the new player has spent enough time bashing comfy monsters, then consider the other songs. The true end goal is playing sweet chin music on whatever poor sap decided a tail spin was a good idea.

alright so from what I can gauge, this mechanic will still have the same outcome on gameplay than the clutchclaw? As in: you will have to engage with this mechanic, if you want to play the game at higher difficulty, because the game will be still balanced around tenderising the monster. at least that is what it seems like for now.
@LightItUpDan6 ай бұрын
@@angelcrush3320 I don't think so, the wounds created last for a certain amount of damage, after which they go, rather than a timer providing a damage multiplier like the clutch claw. subtle differences but sounds infinitely better to me so far
@angelcrush33206 ай бұрын
interesting that might actually be a better system then, cool. I hope they get rid of timed quests too, to Incentivise different builds other than bigger number>better.
