I think you should do a follow up review after a few trips/field tests with over cramming, tossing around, and opening it up on a sandy scratchy floor. Will the aluminum frame still be water tight, and function after a few corner bumps and drops? How does the polycarbonate hold up over time beyond scratches and nicks? Do the handles warp the polycarbonate frame from the weight of a full suitcase?

Hey all. I own the large Cabin in tarmac, and must tell you these pieces are NOT good to check-in and mingle with other luggage. Mine cracked a corner the first time out, and subsequently busted every top corner since. These are not made to take a regular beating through under-plane storage. I can only reccomend the carry-on, as you can obviously keep an eye on it.

+1 I have the 'Check-In' in tarmac and the hinges snapped off after 1x use.

Disappointed to hear this - this is the only luggage (outside of $1500+ suitcases) that checks all boxes for me.

Looks nice but the carry on size exceeds the standard carry on size for USA.

Really great review! Not only did you point out some facts and details about the suitcase that other reviews haven't, you also did so in an entertaining way. Loved the down-angled camera view on the wheel performance, too. Cheers!

Hey! Could you please share thought about this suitcase now, 7 months later? I’m quite doubtful is it worth the money. And how much the carry on fits if the weight limit for many airlines is 8 kg and the suitcase is ~4 kg? How has it been holding up during your travels, how much you’ve travelling with it? Thanks if you find to reply :)

Another disgruntled customer here. I have the 'Check-in' in Tarmac and the hingest snapped off after one use. Floyd had to be chased to respond to my support ticket and even then they just gave me a UK company I had to arrange my own repair with. Not at all the product or service I expected. My advice is to avoid.

I love the color replaceable wheels is super useful and extremely useful for things like cobblestone streets in europe which murdered my suitcase when in spain

Yeah agreed. Crazy to think you can’t change the wheels on other suitcases 🤔

Wow nice video. You definitely got a great video style going on! Ordered it last week since my old one broke was eying the Floyd for about 2 years now. You just gave me an even better feeling about it

What about the inside after opening the zipper of the two big compartments? Is there any functional gadget, straps... ?

The only reason I am hesitant to buy Floyd is the bag's weight. It only allows you 15kg for check-in luggage. How have you found this?
@ThoughtsOnThings Жыл бұрын
Honestly hasn’t been an issue for me even with camera, laptop etc. Also can’t remember the last time my cabin bag was weighed travelling in Europe. Might be different in US / long-haul I can’t remember … hope that helps 👍

Hi! I am so leaning toward a Floyd suitcase! They're so cool and unique. And they seem super practical. How is the finish holding up? I feel like one good scrape against the security belt and that shiny varnish is toast
@ThoughtsOnThings Жыл бұрын
That’s true - it’s going to get scratched, but personally I like that. The only way you’re not going to have scratches is going for a fabric suitcase. So guess it depends what’s important to you. That being said, mine is still pretty scratch free, but only used it abroad 3 times so far. Hope that helps?

Not sure why you would need a TSA approved waterproof latch lock on a carry on case really. It won't be far from you for the duration of your flight. They look retro and cool these cases but you pay the price for that. I've seen as good if not better bags on the market for cheaper. For example The Osprey Ozone 4-Wheel Carry On 38L Travel Bag is a lot cheaper, well built and almost half weight. Nice review though.

Rimowa is 100 times better in terms of practicality and more importantly durability. Floyd does not survive a roundtrip generally.

@@ThoughtsOnThings The Rimowa Essential Lite is only 8% more expensive (based on where I am, when comparing total cost between the two: taxes, shipping, etc.)

The Silvio. Suit sie doesnt work well at all. There is always a gap where water can enter the suitcase. No matter if it’s fully filled or not. Decently not worth the money! Rather buy a Rimowa instead!!!
