I've just got this rod Wayne and can honestly say its a fantastic peice of kit. There is very little in the way of reviews for this rod so your review is very welcome. I also spoke to MikeTamlyn at Tackle wave crew before shelling out a considerable amount of money as he like yourself owns and has fished with the MCSBMC. He had nothing but good things to say about this rod and went as far to calling it his go to rod. Also worth mentioning it is made with top quality parts including Fuji Torzite Guide’s with K series Titanium frame's.The power in this blank is quite deceiving considering the over all weight is just 115 grams and the tip as you say is just brilliant. Agree with everything you say Wayne, it’s a lovely rod to fish with and a really good all rounder with all types of lures.

Mike is an absolute legend. The finer details, guides etc I did miss out on but put them in the description. Like I say in the video, I'm not much of a tackle review creator 🤣 maybe something for me to practice I guess .

Great review. I’m still using my 9’6” sky road and love it, but really fancy something a bit shorter, that rod looks amazing, really tempted 🤔

@paulhopper988 you wouldn't be disappointed and that's a promise!

Nice work. I have a major craft finetail glass for freshwater lure fishing and it is a beautiful rod.

Marjor craft in general is beautiful gear!

Im usually here for the fish and guidnce, but really do like tackle reviews. Importantly, the length of the video was perfect. More equipment reviews maybe? But keeping them the same length of time is vital to keep interest high (to me anyway), nice work.

The tackle reviews are a love-hate relationship for me 🤣 but I will keep them in mind. Glad you enjoyed it!

Got the sea bass custom cork this year , €100 cheaper than the Marc cowling . Love it
@Anglingaddict75Ай бұрын
@billysheridan3487 Don't get me wrong, the seabass customs are lovely, lovely rods. This one has that little bit extra pizzazz though!

Love the review. Would pretty much cover my Favourite Black Swan 6-24 and Major Craft Seabass Custom Limited Edition 7-35 in one rod. Have promised I’m not buying another rod for at least the next year. 6 weight mullet fly rod build in progress. After all it’s not a rod until it has been built😉

I pretty much promised the same thing or I would do a comparison with the Art Magic 🤣

Great video, more reviews, do the reel next I can think of 10 reasons why it’s the best even better than the Stella especially for Sea Bass. 👍
@Anglingaddict75Ай бұрын
@georgedixon8105 thank you! I'm not much of a "review" kind of guy so I'm glad you enjoyed it. Basically, I can't afford a Stella 🤣

I have the same reel. Do not turn the handle of the reel if you are unsure about buying one. The smoothest, quietest reel I ever used. Danger!

@roryodonnell it is lovely 😍

Try out the Yamaga Blanks Early 105 MH. Absolutely brilliant. And about £200 cheaper! 👍😉🎣

Awsome review, Wayne. As you know, i got the Art Magic, and everything you say about the MC i would mirror with AM. They are both awesome tools,and unless i had tried both, i can not make a fair judgement, which would be better,i did have a few guys reply to a post on my group saying they had both and slightly liked th AM better.For anyone looking for a lure rod in this price range should check out both of them and go with what feels best.All i know is we both own a couple of rods at the top of the league 😊.I wonder if MajorCraft would send me one to test and review, lol 😆 .

Is this a big improvement over the previous Cowling edition? I prefer the look of the shorter butt handle and the overall handle design on the previous version. Was the tip too stiff for your liking on that rod?
@Anglingaddict759 күн бұрын
@Beng12952 I'm not aware there is a previous "Marc Cowling" edition. There are previous seabass customs but only one MC edition. In my opinion yes, a big improvement compared to the others

Yes you’re quite right! You mentioned APIA rods. Which particular rod of theirs had you used and eventually sold? I was considering the “Testamatta Foojin’Z 88MH” but no idea how it would compare in use…

@Beng12952 if your going to go for an Apia look at the art magic

If I could buy another rod, the art magic would be it! Maybe one day but I've promised not to buy another rod...... yet 🤣

It would have been nice to see you attempt to put a decent cast out, ie put the rod to the test. I haven't seen anyone hold the rod as you do, with your hand below the reel seat, very unusual? I bought the MajorCraft Sea Bass Custom Limited Edition when it first came out (used but mint), and it's a great rod to fish with. It has also proven durable, surviving quite a few knocks and scrapes.For clumsy me this is important, many cheaper rods can't survive getting dinked, I've had three sub-£150 fold up on me- their carbon wall is just too thin. I would be happy with most top end lure rods, they all seem to get the job done, and I think too much emphasis is placed on tackle. . Yes, you do get a bit more sensitivity (however I believe that's an over-rated virtue), but it's the casting ability that counts. If the rod is so good let's see what it can do, put a decent bend in it, let a lure fly ! No good flicking out metals into a pond, I want to see how far it will chuck a big Patch.The rod may well chuck metals on or over its rating, but its a very different proposition with hard plastics. A slow-mo shot would help us see what the blank is like under compression. I realise distance isn't everything but it saves the day often, and on some marks it is essential. It is also a measureable test of the rod- my MC outcasts my old HTO easily, as does my Lunamis. The cork handle isn't the best quality either, good, but not the best. Synthetic for me, cork is too slippy when slimy and wet. If the rod rings are the same Fuji Torzite as mine they are fantastic. I fish a lot, and have yet to have braid wrap round them. I was shocked at their cost when I had to replace a tip section ring that I cracked- the butt ring is well over £30! Has the MCMC got a lure keeper ring, unlike the LTD Edition? I think it ought to have whether you use it, or not.
@Anglingaddict75Ай бұрын
@barlow2976 thanks for the comment, I'll see what I can do with getting a "bend" in the rod for you. The slow motion bit is harder than it seems to be honest, I'm not using any high end camera gear so getting a slomo shot will prove difficult. Watch this space.
