Account required? I'll pass.

Opt-out telemetry and a forced login still seems like an absolute minefield when it comes to GDPR. And yes, they do link analytics to your account. Privacy Policy: "In order to improve the quality of our service, we will collect for logged-in users information pertaining to how the app is being used (analytics) and information needed to debug crashes in the app (crash reports). These analytics and crash reports may contain metadata like IP addresses, OS information, but will not contain contents of terminal sessions."

Agreed. I installed this after seeing Christian's Tweet (which didn't say it was a paid advert), and immediately uninstalled when presented with a login screen and telemetry that was pre-enabled. GDPR says "NO!" to opt-out analytics.

We had to fire a few developers from our company after using warp on their mac. We have now made a company wide policy against using warp. GDPR is something that can't be an issue for us, and we can't question about any terminal session.

All it takes is a simple bug in the filter for your keys to end up on a remote server.

@@_vr Sorry to resurrect this thread, but seriously firing employees for using an application with telemetry seems excessive bordering on abusive. Especially if the rules weren't clear. Sounds like an absolute management failure in so many ways.

Man, your enthusiasm is contagious, big fan of your content. Warp is so freaking good. My work machine is a MacBook, and although I'm not super keen on macOS as a whole (windows guy all my life, linux user on home machine currently), but Warp changes the game completely. Insanely good

Warp plans to ship Linux and browser-based editions of the app by the end of this year, with a Windows version following in 2024. 🤞

I started using this terminal while back, and I had to stop using it because of my use case, I like to use tmux when ssh automatically in the remote server. I wanted to set a configuration for ssh automacally using tmux in the remote server. For some reason, it was not playing nice with the configuration in the ssh/config file. So, tmux integration for remote ssh server functionality would be a really nice feature. Another feature that would be amazing would be this terminal for Linux. Please any Linux distribution. Also, very important and probably it is not that hard to do, is to implement this terminal for VScode. If it is in VScode, i am telling you it would be the only terminal I would use. I use VScode every day, and I would love to have the same experience inside the vscode terminal and outside.

I understand not wanting to use the product, but to expect it not to have an account requirement is ridiculous. It's obviously using some AI API and they need to keep track who is using it to prevent abuse. Unless there's a version that lets you use your own API (which I doubt will happen) the account requirement isn't going anywhere.

Great video - I want to be a fan of your content, but when, in the very first minute, I hear multiple references (assumptions) that software folks are ALL guys, my heart hurts a little bit. Becoming a bit more self aware with language could go a long way towards cultivating and modeling an inclusive environment... thanks for listening. I do wish you well.
