I like the fuzziness of your locs. They look fuzzy, and soft like a baby chick. I don't retwist, I separate, and wrap the new growth that grows away from my locs, around the loc. Or I braid it too, if I want the hair to stay longer. 23 years in the game...1999!!!!!

"Like a baby chick" 😂 that part made me laugh out loud genuinely but thanks lol! Wrapping is a nice method too I would do that if im feeling lazy that day. And beautiful that you've been in the game that long an OG 👏🏾👏🏾

I can tell that you stay in tune with yourself and what's going on in your journey by the way you articulate the your discoveries. I really appreciate that. I want the type of Locs that you have but, I have discovered by going to the salon they are totally oblivious to different methods of maintenance. Although I tell them over and over again that parts are not my concern and in fact I think it's cause thinning, they don't know what to do or think...I get BUFFERING. I am so very happy to have stumbled upon your channel because I am at the 5th month of my journey, my hair is very short still, I now have the opportunity to cultivate the type of Locs I actually want. I will totally be following your path for the remainder of my journey. Thank you so much for sharing.

I've been on loc journeys several times before. This is the first time that I am trying semi-freeform. Getting to a place where I stop retwisting...using any product on hand...and trying to coerce my hair....are long gone. This leg of my journey has taught me to finally allow my hair...to do what it wants to with minimal interference. It has rewarded me for this. However...sometimes I have to get a few strands back on the right path. I tried this today and...thank you so much for sharing. I went back and watched the video you mentioned too. Been watching your content for some time. Great energy and positivity. This method is a game changer for me.

About 5 years ago I first got my locs they were crochet hooked in and I was advised to go back every 3 months for a retwist and wax them every day but then I did more research and realized I dont want the maintained look at all nor do I want a bunch of wax buildup so after 2 days max I stopped waxing them started embracing the fuzzy hairs and just let them go im really happy I did because now all my loose hair is forming locs by itself some locs combined by themselfs forming fingers and congos my tips are still whispy and I dont intend on changing that. Once my hair becomes longer then I am comfortable with I will simply cut off the whispy tips I really enjoy the look of my hair and the journey. I wash my hair once a week with Dr Bronners tea tree solution and I must say it keeps my head very clean I dont feel like my hair is oily or dirty I dont have dandruff and I never used any methods to maintain them simply wash and go. I only dry my hair to the point where its not completely dripping all over me and then I just walk my doggo and let the wind and sun do the rest. I am also a white man I hope this helps someone who doubts the fuzz or loose hair. Just wash it and trust the process I would say. I like the maintained look I just dont like damaging my roots to the point where they will thin out and make me go bald eventually.

With semi freeforming when is the best time to start? I am two month in my journey and I don’t want to retwist that often so that the root could be strong.
@Jupiter888-52 жыл бұрын
That's a good question. I started semi freeforming I was at 6 months loc'd. I wanted to make sure my locs were locd before I began the semi freeform journey
@AllAboutAliciaa2 жыл бұрын
@@Jupiter888-5 Thank you for answering my question! I think I'm going to do the same. Some parts of my hair are fully locd and the rest is still doing their own thing. I'ma wait until everything else catches up to the ones that are fully locd.
@holisticflo2 жыл бұрын
That is a good question, maybe I should do a video on this soon! But I think it honestly is safe to start semi-freeforming any time. Some people i have seen who have semi-freeformed just put two strand twists in, and then never retwisted ever. Sometimes you cant tell how your hair matures until month 7 or 8, though. So it’s safer to wait maybe 5 or 6 months to start doing so
@AllAboutAliciaa2 жыл бұрын
@@holisticflo thank you for responding! I think I’ll wait around that time because I’m still experiencing unraveling. I’m gonna make an update around that time frame to let you know how it’s going 😅
