One album that made its way, high on my list! Was Sulphur Aeon. 🖤 I’ve listened to them a lot. And being a new fan of them in general,and going through their discography. This is their best work. Top 5 for me this year.

I wanna personally thank you for putting me onto Majesties "Vast Reaches Unclaimed". That has my vote for my favorite album from this year. I don't think I've heard such a stellar and modern interpretation of that sweet Gothenburg sound.

I happened across majesties randomly, but my God that album is SO GOOD! The guitars are the closest thing I've heard to late 90's Gothenburg in quite some time. The reverb/chorus, whatever effect is on the vocals, gives such an atmosphere that blends beautifully.

I'm still constructing my top albums of the year, but it might look something like this: 1. Cattle Decapitation - Terrasite (my AOTY for sure, great album musically, vocally, and lyrically) 2. The Zenith Passage - Datalysium (awesome tech death) 3. Florid Ekstasis - Trepanning (great experimental death metal!) 4. Turbid North - The Decline (grind/melodic/groove somethingorother that slaps) 5. Parity Boot - Fast Forward (melodic industrial metal that hits right) 6. Cause N Effect - Validation Through Suffering (sleeper tech death masterpiece) 7. Aeffect - Theory of Mind (awesome djent with hints of death metal) 8. Molested Divinity - The Primordial (love this brutal death band. Nothing special but hits hard) 9. Neurectomy - Overwrought (tech death with Origin's drummer) 10. Dyoxidon - The Decaying Multiverse (dense industrial death metal) So many other great albums of this year, too.

Some of my other favorite albums are, Lokust - Infidel, Pronostic - Chaotic Upheaval, Solar Eruption - The Demon's House just to name a few! I very much enjoyed your channel this year and there are a few albums on your list here that I haven't heard, but I plan on listening to. Amazing picks Trenches. I loved the new Hellripper, Panopticon, Enslaved, Cattle Decapitation, and Horrendous albums and they were in my top 10 albums of the year. I also really liked the new August Burns Red, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard’s PetroDragonic Apocalypse, Xoth, and Alkaloid albums. Very unique and solid list. Proves you dive deep into the dirtiest cracks of metal to find this stuff. I had no idea Portrayal of Guild released this year, so they won't make my list simply because I missed them. For me #1 is EASILY "As In Gardens, So In Tombs" by ...And Oceans. Visceral Atmospheric Black Metal that released in January, and undoubtedly remained first place throughout the year. Not even recency bias with other albums that released later in the year were able to sway me off of this. Easiest #1 slot for me since 2020 when Winterfylleth released their magnum opus "The Reckoning Dawn". #2 - "Descent" by Orbit Culture #3 - "Origin of Fire" by Mors Subita #4 - "Cursed Mortality" by Carnation #5 - "Alfold" by Thy Catafalque #6 - "War of Being" by TesseracT #7 - "Chapter III - Downfall" by Ad Infinitum #8 - "Monuments to Absence" by Fen #9 - "No Dawn For The Caliginous Night" by Convocation #10 - "Convergence" by Shylmagoghnar Honorable Mentions: "American Gothic" by Wayfarer "Distortions From Cosmogony" by The Arcane Order "Blackbraid II" by Blackbraid "Of Golden Verse" by Sermon "Tales" by Night Crowned Many more I can't think of right at the moment. You are the only person besides me who probably even knows of Necropanther because everyone else has only Hellripper magically as the only Thrash Metal band. Necropanther is the best Thrash Black Metal album of 2023 by far 100% facts. I'm glad to see them in your top five or so because they are that good. I usually listen to Only Thrash Metal and some Death Metal, but this year I listened to a bunch of different stuff and Valdrin was my #1 favorite. I love this band a lot all four albums they have are special.
