Personally, I find the FunKey S a more enjoyable experience as a whole. It’s no secret I love that little thing and fully believe retro video game fanatics owe it to themselves to snag one

@Klaus Sperger I think the PocketSprite is the perfect little gadget to carry around for the ‘wow’ effect, but doesn’t offer much beyond that.

Got my FunKey S recently and man am I impressed!! They did a fantastic job with the build quality, screen looks great, and I'm not noticing any screen tearing in any of my games. It came with a 32 GB card, but I took that out and installed a 128 GB card and have the complete collections of Sega Genesis, Game Gear, Master System, Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, NES, SNES, TurboGrafx 16, WonderSwan, Atari Lynx, Neo Geo Pocket, Commodore 64, and about 50 PlayStation 1 games. I even installed MAME, Doom, Doom 2, and Quake on it as well. It is absolutely amazing and responsive. I can't believe I have literally 10,000+ games on a device that I can hide in my hands with a closed fist. Back in the day, I had a 386 PC that could barely play Doom unless I minimized the screen a lot. This thing is playing Quake at full speed with no issues. Mind blowing!

Hey this is all pretty old news now but I’m new to hearing about this myself. You sound like you know what your doing so I ask for help… how do I get these games onto the console and how do aquire 1?

@@jamesgreenjr.2597 The device has some screws on the bottom so you just unscrew it, carefully, and inside is the microSD card. Put that in your computer and copy the files over. You can then copy those files over to a bigger SD card. Place SD card back in the FunKey S, screw it back up, and then turn on FunKey S and select USB mode. There you can drag and drop games as you please. It's real easy.

The Funkey S is absolutely amazing! I also own the Pocketsprite but because of the small screen it’s almost unplayable. If the screen would have been a tiny bit bigger, it would be amazing as well. Looking forward to what’s coming up in the near future 💪🏽

I had a RetroMini for the longest time, and I ended up giving it away. These things are just too small, and for the same price you can get a LDK or the Powkiddy V90. It's a nice gift for someone that really likes gaming, but shelling out that much cash for a hand cramp and eye strain is simply insane.

This, exactly. I have a retromini but its sitting in a display shelf. The screen is just too small and not nice for long sessions. I recently got a V90 for actual gaming at work.

The Funkey S is pretty amazing. I recently got a Powkiddy V90 and realized how spoiled I was by the Funkey instantly booting up into the previous game with the same savestate you were playing. Plus, it’s weirdly cumbersome having to navigate different emulator menus on the V90 or specifically open a dialog to do a safe shutdown. Despite its small size, the buttons are actually really usable. They’re super clicky but low travel, so you can kinda rock your thumbs in four directions to press them. The V90 has some of the spongiest, high travel buttons, so I bought some switches similar to the ones in Joy-Cons and am going to try putting those in.

The Funkey S is VERY playable for the right game. GBC JRPG titles are perfect. The GBC has a square screen, so it looks great without stretching or cropping. The text is usually a big enough font to be readable, and since it is turn-based the tiny keypad and buttons are not an issue since you aren't in a hurry.

My only problem with my FunKey S is that the screen is 50hz. In the US all of our TVs were of course 60hz, as with Japan, so most games were designed at 60 FPS with that in mind. Every game I play on the FunKey S feels like it's running super slow to me, which is really distracting. I wish I could overclock the screen to 60hz like how you can overclock your monitor to 60hz, because the little machine definitely has the power. I'm still confused as to why they opted for a 50hz display. Was it the only option for the size profile they were after?

if i had to pick one mini handheld to have it'd be the funkey S, i consider the gba sp one of the best handheld designs of all time (a huge factor in me getting a powkiddy v90 recently the other big factor being price lol) and being that small plus actually playing ps1 games well? a technological marvel, props to the team behind it for making something so high quality from what ive heard

I got the Funkey S, and I like it, it's definitely good for Gameboy. Only issue I'm having is that Game Gear doesn't seem to work on it, and I don't know why, everything else is fine though.

I ordered my FunKey S in early June. Still hasn't even shipped out yet. Can't wait until it does though. Can anybody who has one verify something for me? It says the microSD card limit is 128 GB. Is that true or not? The reason I ask is because other devices, such as the RG351V, states the supported memory card is up to 256, yet I have a 512 in mine working just fine.
