I have this truck. Got it for my 4 year old son. He LOVES it. Full throttle slam into a brick wall and it doesn't break. The shafts pop out once in a while, no big deal there. You cannot break this thing just by driving it. It's perfect for indoor fun and it actually goes fast enough to run outside also. Great truck! I'm picking up an Arrma Granite 4x4 BLX tomorrow at the hobby shop. I wish you would review that! Best RC channel on KZbin, Kevin. Thanks for the videos and inspiration.

I bought it and love it. I had loads of rc cars as a kid and broke every one of them. I didn't know anything about repairing them. Bought this to try out and love it! I bought two more for my kids so we can bash together. I love that they have a parts list and upgraded parts. Worth the money, loads of fun!

Hi Kevin. I just made the exact same upgrades to my Rampage with the same steel drive shafts. After reassembling everything, the car doesn't have the same turning radius. I was wondering if you encountered this same issue and went back to plastic in the front, or do you think I need to check how I reassembled it. It seemed pretty straightforward though. I love the channel.

We got one of these and they are great but it soon broke - the cog that sits off the motor no longer connect with the cog on the drive shaft at the rear - there is a very small gap between the 2 cogs so the motor just spins with no wheel turn. Nothing is loose, cracked or come away, I don't understand why it has happened. Apart from that, the car itself is awesome

U can away use a ratchet for the heels kev its so much quicker and can reach litterly anything AND u can use any size on it

Question, does the esc cut off the voltage properly (is there a setting perhaps on the esc too change that ?) Or do you have too keep an eye out for that yourself or get a lipo buzzer as lithium ion cells which the stock battery is made of has a lower cutoff voltage that will damage lipo batteries or were they generous with the voltage cutoff from the get go so it works with both relatively safely ?

Any dea where to get these add-ons for cheap? See the shocks are about $20 and the axles just slightly cheaper. Not sure about putting $40 into a $50 dollar car.

i did a setup sorta like this, its a dromida 1/18 MT with a brushless kit off ebay, it runs 3 cell but eats its axles and gears

I've got an HBX Ratchet coming soon, might see if I can do these on it; I know the shocks will at least keep it from getting jammed in sand, but what is the benefit to upgrading the drive shafts, aside from the obvious that metal is sturdier than plastic?

Hey so did you buy different wheels or did you use the same ones? Becasue your replaces the drive shafts and the old ones weren’t hex drives.

Need to order some of those drive shafts for my buggy, mine currently are more of a traditional style with a dog bone and cup setup. Love the upgrades you do, little tweak goes a long way.

Is this car better than the wltoys a979b? By better i mean quality rather than speed. I can't find those upgrade parts for the hbx. searching for part numbers doesn't give any results apparently. It's as if the entired brand is halfdead. very few products, very limited parts availability.

those would be great for a little backyard race track because of the size and look quick enough to be fun. My yards too small for regular size rcs, I have a 1/16th slash and I put the motor from my rustler vxl in it for the back yard and really think something like that would be a better fit. thanks for the info

Kevin, any chance you can do a comparison of the wltoys a879-b vs this HBX Rampage. Consider cost and availability of both replacement and upgrade parts in both the US and UK. If you could, in the mean time reply and let me know what you would buy, if you could only buy one or the other and lived in the US.? I have the wltoys a959-b and upgrades are available in the USA. It's so much fun I'd like a cheep little 1/18 MT as well. BTW, I enjoy your videos but even more importantly, I like your attitude as well as how great you treat your friends.

My a979b just kind of stopped working the other day I did a backflip in and took a pretty hard Landing in the throttle cuts out and I don't know what's wrong with it but I'm going to assume it's the electronic speed controller could you tell me if you've ever had a problem with this and what do you think I should do you think I should just go and buy a new one or see if I can try to work it out with this

@@KevinTalbotTV Center drive shaft is straight and all the other ones are straight as well it works but Cuts in and out I have full control over steering but my throttle Cuts in and out quite frequently I think it's the ESC

@@dootslayer1402 it's not losing connection because my Servo is always working I've checked the plugs that's not it and the motor I just got it on Christmas and the motor the white fan blades inside the motor have started to flake but it's not too bad can I plug in today and it ran just fine I think I just smacked hard enough where I shook something loose
