Could you also make an EQ Curve for the K371 that would be nice!

Which open-back headphones would you recommend for mixing in the price point just below the HEDDphones? I was looking at the Neuman NDH 30s. Thanks for all the great videos!

Been looking a great headphones for mixing recording but what I found most people not talking about the SHURE SRH 840A it's a shame people just for what is most popular with people. Now you just talk about something not super popular but you are showing us proof of it been great. Please get the SRH 840A

Hey Scan pro audio ! Would you say the Stealth, Expanse and E3 have too much bass ? They are pretty much aligned with the 80s Harman curve. That would make them pretty bass heavy if I follow your reasoning. But the thing with these DCA planars is that they are almost distortion-free, down there. So the bass are not enhanced with distortion like it's the case with most dynamic drivers. In effect the Stealth, Expanse, and E3 have very low distortion basses that fit the 80s curve, and they also, by design, have a 2 dB boost at 100hz. Dan Clark made this boost to make the bass more palatable, somehow. I'm thinking that the group of people that participated in the 80s studies were listening to a very high quality bass, with low distortion (it was coming out of great flat studio monitors, and in a tuned room with probably not much room gain). SO maybe that's why they have set the low bump so high ? Because distortion was low on the rendition of the bass, in the context of the Harman experience. Long story short... I want to produce & mix electronic music : would the Stealth, Expanse or E3 allow me do do that ? I'm in a hybrid system and I can't eq my headphones. So the FR of the headphone has to be pretty much spot-on. What I plan on doing though, is to use the crossfeed function of a Phonitor 2 headphone amp to emulate a bit more real studio monitors (I see you have a little SPL behind you, do you use its corssfeed function, and does it do the job as good as the crossfeed plugins ?). Cheers :) !

I wish you could maybe compare the Audio-Technica ATH-M40x in the future maybe with the rest of the bunch here. They sound pretty flat, to my ears at least, and I wonder what your thoughts are on them.

hi, are there any differences between the AKG K702 and the AKG K702 65th anniversary? it seems to me that the 65th came out much earlier, so what has changed with the K702 model, has there been any updates?

You can't rely on charts. My ears tell me 280 Pro and ATH M40X have too much bass and DT770s too little. I use MDR7506 because they seem centered. Do charts tell you that? Charts often tell me the opposite of what I hear because how do you replicate with a mike leather vs velour or how tight they are? The way they vibrate in your head against your skull? Pull the headphones off by an inch and they sound tinny. How are they recording and with what mike to replicate all that material, distance and tightness? How accurate is the mike. I use things like More than a Feeling and ask, does the snare sound like a snare in a room? What about clean and distorted guitars? Leads? Alan Parsons uses MDR 7506 to track. I even find, oddly enough Rockville M50s have an even mix if a little harsh. You know what looks great on a chart? Sennheiser 599. They sound like mud. No sound separation or clarity. Just an even midrange. Just got the M50X in the mail. Holy fuck. Those are good.

Hi, deciding between the LCD-X , LCD1 and the new Neumann open back for mixing (pop). You reckon the Neumann will be able to compete in any way?

take a look at planar IEM's, like the 7hz timeless, letshouer s12's. IEMS have been technologically advancing at an insane rate due to chinese audiophile companies innovating like mad men. IEMS now are far more accurate than any headphone you could get, this isn't even an exaggeration, it's simply the nature of the drivers being so small. you would still want to eq them, but luckily there's a huge database with measurements of nearly every IEM with an auto EQ built in that creates an EQ for you in accordance with varying freq response targets, like harman or ief neutral, and many more.
