This watch might not work for some but the size is perfect for me. I have a slim 6.2” wrist so can’t wear the regular one. Love the fact that Citizen decided to keep all features from the bigger one on this. It has become my new daily watch and really love how it wears and looks.

The NY0040 is an absolute icon and i intend to get one soon. Perhaps the new 37mm design isn't as great, but in my opinion it's a tempting watch anyway from a more practical point of view. The good thing is that Citizen offer options for everyone, despite the difference in movements.

The supplied metal strap is crap.However, Long Island Watch now have 2 specific bracelets for it ( 'o' &'j') .I don't have them, nor do I get comission (sadly).There may be other suppliers as well.

I had the bigger ecodrive version and I could never connect with that one, mostly because of the date at 4 like you pointed out. It drove me crazy every time I looked at it. The automatic is just beautiful and probably the last proper Japanese tool watch. I especially liked the deep black glossy dial, at some angles is like it's a deep back pool. Ended up selling it too because of the noisy rotor but especially because I hated to set the day and date every time. There used to exist a quartz version of the ny0040 but with a crown at 3 that I only saw in small numbers over at Italian sellers. As usual I thought too much about it and when I decided to get one they were all gone.

As for the intended public, there's nothing in this new 37mm model as a whole that seems exclusively for ladies. The black and blue actually look far from feminine in my opinion. Some watches are definitely more masculine or feminine than others, but sometimes what truly defines the public is just a variant in color and finish - exactly what happens with the pink-gold-gray. I think that brands should stop associating size with sex, because there's more design elements into play than just that.

I agree with what you are stating. Same thing I saw in the commercials of the Tudor Pelagos 39. I think people should just buy what they like and feel comfortable with.

I agree. I'm glad Citizen make this watch in a 37mm case for men who feel that is the right size for them, (and historically 37mm is a big watch) and also offer colours and finishes that are more feminine for women who feel this watch echoes their persona.

I appreciate you posting early on into the launch (UK will not get this till Autumn) and sharing initial thoughts as well as this video. I have bought one (EO2021) and I love it! Yes, perhaps a 3 o’clock date position could improve it but it makes sense having it lined up with the crown. I think the sizing is fantastic for anyone with wrists

The citizen dive watch you are looking for is the 38mm NY2300.

For my money the citizen bn0195 28e Promaster Professional Diver is perfect, it is ISO-compliant so it is a real divers watch, the bezel is reliable, i.e. time accurate and unlikely to shift during the dive, has proper grip unlike the Seiko SKX007 dive watch, and like Seiko, the lumen lasts long enough. When I was in the Navy I would charge the lumen by putting a torch against it for 5 minutes and it would last an entire night dive using oxygen rebreathing equipment which gives more endurance, long enough for me to check my progress and plant explosive on targets and the Citizen, in my opinion, would behave in the same as Seiko but even better, that is why it is a real dive watch. The NY040 version looks like the older version of the BN0195 28E. The BN0195 28E has a 42mm face, which is still good on a small wrist.

Honestly just buy the 44mm ecodrive diver instead of this 37mm diver and you will be happy. That 44mm fits like a 41mm on the wrist and i now understand why citizen did not come out with a 40mm size because that 44mm size works absolutely fine for almost all male wrist sizes small or large. I would suggest you get one for a review and try it out yourself. just try the 44mm.

Although I just ordered a Longines Spirit with 37 mm, I am actually a big fan of Citizen watches. But these watches have to be radio controlled, have a perpetual calender and be solar driven. My 6 year old Citizen has all these features and I never have to worry about accuracy as it is less than 1 second in a year. I believe that if you buy an automatic watch you have to accept this disadvantage as even a Grand Seiko with a spring drive movement has to be adjusted after 1 month already.

I somewhat disagree, the 44mm look can look clownish on a small wrist (5.75" in my case). I bought the 44mm and I looked like a child wearing her dad's watch. I bought this one in blue and it fits way better. However, in my opinion, a 39mm could've been the sweet spot (this one is technically 36.5mm).
