Loved that Tim - I'm thrilled you came to pretty much the same conclusions as I did (especially given you're a better rider and ifinitely better informed generally than I am)....I loved it so much I called it my "Bike of the Year" - I've never had one of those before! Given the crinkly seat I reckon this was the same bike as I rode too....

Yup, I'm trading in my MT 10 SP for the 09 SP. Yes I am crazy.... It's lighter and more nimble on back roads. I rarely go above 100mph so I don't really care about the top end power.

Got mine a week and 300 miles ago (thanks for the heads up on the seat btw) I got the comfort seat while I was waiting for the bike to arrive,which makes a decent difference, and isn't wrinkly yet, the standard one was by the time I rode it 30 miles home. The occasional pops from the exhaust, and the whump with the quickshifter is pretty addictive. Really really pleased with my purchase so far... No regrets on trading in my 2019 Street Triple RS.

Fantastic review Tim! I agree with what you said about the indicators. I never find myself half-pressing to indicate a turn. That said, pressing it again in the same direction to cancel after a turn I find is counterintuitive. I prefer the indicator module on the 2023 MT09.

Undoubtedly a great bike Tim but I cannot get my head around the marmite looks [although it is an improvement over the last model]. I prefer the latest XSR 900 especially with the Yamaha sports pack in which you get a really nice looking colour matched RD 350 Pro-Am style bikini fairing, a nice 3-1 pipe [a huge improvement over the standard hideous pipe] and a colour matched single seat fairing, again which tidy's up the back end.Great video mate. I spent the extra and it's almost exactly what was said in the video. For normal and somewhat sane road use, this bike might be the best I've ever ridden. It lacks power in the top end. You would think it goes on, but you'll hit the rev limiter. Front tire feel is great, you have to duk and lean forward, if you don't want to trigger the lift control. Just change the handle bar to get even more front tire control, get a steering dampender and you will mostly have the same sprtynees as the Stripple 765.

"SPend the extra" ...to have a somewhat boring colour scheme and the embarrassment of those hideous gold colour forks! "If you want the MT-09 that looks the best, get this." See above. The standard model in black is by far and away the best-looking MT-09, in my opinion. If only Yamaha did the SP in that colour scheme then I'd be looking at getting one. As it stands I'll likely be getting a Street Triple 765 RS in Cosmic Yellow or Phantom Black instead.
@markwilkes56194 ай бұрын
The black does look nice, but I do like the sp colour scheme. It's obviously subjective and if we all liked exactly the same thing it would be a very boring world. I would say whatever colour scheme, and SP or not, it's a cracking bike. We're very fortunate these days because there aren't very many poor bikes (HD's excluded 😂) and whether you go MT, RS, Z9 etc., you're going to find yourself with a great bike you can have a lot of fun on. I really like the RS too by the way, I think it's a brilliant bike, but you pay's your money and make your choice. (collecting my '24 SP in 2 days).
