Your channel is so refreshing. I love the long form content without all the jump cuts. Very informative also. Thanks man.

I got the canon R5 C towards the end of last year for my client work and it has been amazing. But I got it with the understanding that I was going to pick up a true cinema camera (not a hybrid) later this year and the R5 C was going to function as the B Camera or as the dedicated stills camera while the new Cinema cam was going to be my driver for my commercial/corporate work. And THIS, speaks to me so much. Thanks so much for sharing this! I was thinking about waiting until about Sept to purchase a C500 or C70 because I'm hoping the price drop was going to be even more at that point if Canon releases new stuff for people to hype and promote and I can get one of those on the used market.
@dustinschmidtphoto5 ай бұрын
Yep, you pretty much described my exact thought process. I think if and when they do release any new rf mount cinema cameras then you’ll be able to get a used C70 or C500 II for an absolute steal. And they won’t be any less of a camera than they are now.

@@dustinschmidtphoto true! I’m hoping that will be the case. They are dragging their feet tho. I want a bargain lol

I've been debating about picking up a C300 mark 3 or a C500 mark 2 and man the choice is hard. I hear great things about the DGO sensor on the C300 and honestly that sways me over the C500 but I do love the "Full frame look" the 500 can provide when set up properly.
@dustinschmidtphoto6 ай бұрын
I agree it’s a tough decision. I’ve shot with both for a bit now and personally I like the C500 II better. If you need higher frame rates in 4k then the C300 III is better, but I don’t often have a need to go to 120 fps. I like the dual format options with the C500 II. I can use full frame and super 35 lenses with it. And the image is slightly better in the c500II in my opinion. But the C300 III is no slouch.
@KGFIQ6 ай бұрын
@@dustinschmidtphoto 4k 120p is something I would need for my work so yeah the c300 is most likely where I'm going. Waiting for the reviews of new Blackmagic Ursa Cine cause that seems like a game changer for frame rates with full frame
@dustinschmidtphoto6 ай бұрын
@@KGFIQI haven’t worked with Blackmagic really. But I did love the C300 III and the 4k 120 on it is great if that’s what you need.

Thanks for this video! I'm in the market for a camera. I need a versatile camera for Independent film work but also corporate/commercial gigs as well. Would love a Sony Burano but can't justify the 25k price tag. The C500 does the same thing at a fraction of the cost. It's a good fit for what I do.
@dustinschmidtphoto5 ай бұрын
The Burano is really hot right now but I think it depends on who your clients are. If you have producers calling and specifically requesting a certain camera then that may be a camera you want to get. But if you just need a great image in a versatile body, I think the C500 II is tough to beat.
@pchuck14395 ай бұрын
@@dustinschmidtphoto Very true. My market is dominated by Sony fx3, fx6, fx9, in the mid tier mixed in with a little Canon. It will be interesting to see how the Burano does in my market. Cheers!

Love the C500mkii, used one for many years and I hope to see an update soon! I just wanted to say that if you dont have a PL mount, I'd strongly advise getting the Canon version. The Wooden Camera mount for the C500mkii I've used has had some of the worst compatibility with PL lenses I've personally seen. Sure, every PL mount and lens is a bit different, but I probably wouldnt go with them again if I had the choice!
@dustinschmidtphoto7 ай бұрын
Ah, I didn’t know that about the wooden camera pl mount. Thanks for that advice, it’s much appreciated.

For some reason I just knew you picked up the C500 mkii. That new firmware with compressed raw and everything else. It's a great fit. They're not bad at the current used price. It's a shame it never caught on. I was really tempted last year to grab a used one on eBay.
@dustinschmidtphoto7 ай бұрын
The new compressed raw options were a BIG selling point. The original raw is very data heavy but with the new options it’s manageable. I’m going to do some testing of the new compression options but things look promising there.

Lots of great info in this video. I've also come across some great deals on used EF lenses and other Canon gear lately. It's a good time for price conscious people. I did not know about Hutchens' Netflix docus. Footage looks good. Have added it to my "Watch Later" feed.
@dustinschmidtphoto7 ай бұрын
I think one if those Hutchens docs is on Showtime. But yeah, the visuals are great. And I agree regarding the canon and ef stuff. Some great deals to be had and the end result will be top notch out of the gear. No compromises in quality.

One of the things I’m excited about with the C500 II is the internal raw options. Fx6 doesn’t have that. Plus I own ef lenses.
