Those were really hard times.. We used to give people standing on the road rides all the time.. One time I cried as the young couple we gave a ride to had been standing on the road for 2 hours waiting for some sort of transport.. Anyway, before they got off they tried to give us some fruit they had bought for themselves in appreciation for the ride... Still brings tears to my eyes.. Of course we didnt take it in case you were wondering.. 😊

In the east you have to try the Baabath. This is in Muslim areas and is fried yams with cow gut and liver etc. It's in the evenings and there is a shop just before leave arugam bay towards Panama. Also try the beef snacks in these areas.
