You should do a cooking course and film it. Makes sense for each country. Pick something typical, perhaps that you can get in the west too and do the cookery course on it. Pad Thai is certainly in the west and doable at home etc. Pick something from Vietnam that you could do in the UK, get the cookery course in Vietnam on how to cook it. If you picked something where you can't get the ingredients its harder, for example holy basil. That rules out one dish from Thailand.

Another cracking video paddy! I love Hoi An. I had too many Banh Mi Phuongs there to even count! Its surprising how many people don't go to the beaches when they go there.. Hidden beach was by far my favourite just south of An Bang - probably the least touristy beach you can find there but they still have all the food and drink you need :)

Just got back from VN 3 weeks ago. Of all the cities we visited, Hội An is the best city! We love and love this place. If we were to retire, we would choose Hội An to retire part time outside of the US. We have so many beautiful memories in term of the vibe of this town, the people, and the interaction we had with the locals. It is a place where if you stand still in silence long enough, you can feel the past is still living among the present. Hội An will always be in our memory and in our hearts until the day we can return.

I like your realistic unpretentious take on Hoi An. I hear so many people saying, "It's too touristy" or "It's not real Vietnam". I get what they are saying, but it's all real. Every country has its tourist areas and they have become tourist areas for a reason. In this case it's a beautiful place with a bit of magic. That doesn't make it less real. Thank you for sharing your Bahn Mi recommendation and the place you stayed. Do you know if public transportation runs from City center to the beach area you stayed? BTW... love the way you incorporated the local singer's song into the video.

Absolutely beautiful. What a great little town. I stayed an extra 5 days then planned when I went , was just so relaxing riding around town with the bicycle, remember the restaurant Morning Glory, was super for a meal with a French red watching the world go by form the balcony. Absolutely lovely 😍 Great times x

My favorite restaurant too. Love sitting in this restaurant at night listening to the singer while enjoying a wonderful meal. At the same time watching the street light up with lanterns and people walking by. I would be happy to do this every evening for the rest of my life.

It is amazing how Hoi An can be so touristed and yet still have enough charm to overcome it. I have been there 5 times and heading back again this fall. Last trip I had a custom made water buffalo jacket made, for my motorcycle trip to the north. Where else in the world can you have that done LOL

I was waiting for you to hit Hoi An. It was our favourite place in Vietnam. We spent 10 glorious days there, and stayed in a lovely Hotel on the street that sold those beautiful lanterns. I bought some small ones, and I put the. Up at Christmas time in the house. Wonderful memories of such a magical place.

Wow wow wow. I actually felt sad watching that. Sad that I am not there right now. Looks so peaceful, beautiful, and utterly charming. The kind of place you can sit by the side of the water and be gloriously happy to be alive. A place where you just "be", and so happy to do nothing but soak up the moment. Needless to say, I LOVE it. Superb video too by the way. I'll be watching this again and again. Interestingly enough, as the video finished the likes were on 333 so I looked up the meaning of 333 - "The three numbers can stand for the three symbols for the mind, the body and the spirit". This An Bang beach means "Peaceful state/region". For Dalat, make sure you bring a sweater and coffee cuz it's gonna cold and sleepy.

Went to Hoi An in 1992 just after Vietnam had reopened, there was one government run guest house, only myself and 5 other foreigners in town. Same with Da Lat, it will be interesting to see what that is like when you get there.

you should go to Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan. These two provinces possess the most beautiful sand dunes in Vietnam. Mui Ne sand dunes of Binh Thuan province are very famous, but in terms of beauty and wildness, I am sure that it is not as beautiful as the sand dunes of Ninh Thuan province, especially Mui Dinh.

I came back from Bangkok, Hoi An, Hue, and Da Nang trip. I also had the best experiences in Hoi An and Bangkok in this trip. Although Hoi An in the evening is very crowded, cycling and walking around the river and old town daytime is really relaxed and people were so friendly. I recommend people who visit Hoi An stay in Hoi An at least 2 or 3 days. I was surprised that so many Vietnamese tourists come to Hoi An, and the town was very crowded in the evening. A restaurant owner told me that about 3,000 Chinese tourists came to Hoi An every evening before the pandemic. So, it is the best to go to Hoi An before Chinese tourists come back.

Morning glory signature restaurant is one of the best to eat at in Hoi An, I wouldn't bother buying anything from there, the workmanship on all leather products are bad for what they charge, just buy in Saigon District 1. The product is the best they have to offer in Vietnam and most are hand made.

I tested both Banh Mi Phuong and the Banh mu Queen. Different and both absolutely delicious but I couldn’t call it. But I didn’t try the sauce. A good reason to return (amongst many). My last visit was in May 19 and it was crazy busy all day long. I’d get up at dawn and enjoy it before the bus loads from Da Nang arrived, then I’d skip out of town to An Bang. It really is one of my favourite places in SE Asia (although Luang Prabang has my heart too). So glad you enjoyed it. Yeah it’s touristy but it’s delightful too!

Actually, many tourists come to Hoi An only in the evening, and they only see crowded Hoi An. The best time in Hoi An is daytime, and beautiful lanterns and lights in the evening are bonus. So, I recommend tourists stay in Hoi An at least 2/3 nights. Also, get there as soon as possible. Otherwise, about 3,000 Chinese tourists every evening come back to Hoi An soon.

After experiencing daytime and warm and kind people in Hoi An, the chaos in the evening became a fun evening event for me. Also, more than 80% of tourists in the evening are Vietnamese when I was there. It was very crowded, but I was very happy to see many Vietnamese families enjoying the beautiful town.

I hate to be a downer here, apologize if my comment is harsh, but I am currently in An Bằng (not pronounced like a westerner) and I feel the video is mis leading. I am retired and would never settle here. There’s only a few streets and all the locals stalk you out. Massage spas trying to pull you in. It’s a Vietnamese residential area, hardly anyone speaks English, motorbikes speeding around beeping their horns and the beach was literally trashy. I’m told the beach is nicer in the summer months and it has been rainy and overcast which effects the color of the water, having just come from Thailand there is no comparison in my opinion. The hotel pictures on line are usually deceptive and the general area is just rather dirty. I’m sorry, but I’m a little disappointed in An Bang beach town. As for Hoi An, yes it’s cool and charming but on steroids! Locals trying to hustle you every which way you turn from drivers to tailors and street vendors high balling. It got to the point I had to walk around with my head down so as not to make eye contact to avoid interaction! It’s a typical commercial tourist town and I found it stressful and didn’t even want to go out sometimes. Everyone has there own perspective but the video makes it seem like a dream. If you’re used to this type of environment, know how to avoid vendors and like over stimulation then perhaps you can tolerate it better than I. I did find splice at a vegetarian/ vegan restaurant call Ken on a small alley that I do recommend! You are a good talker and video editor though, I’ll give you that.

Man I wanted a bite and I can’t handle chilis but that sauce even looked epic! Sammich’s rule breakfast lunch dinner lol. Beautiful beach lively town. The beach looks like a nice retreat from the crowds. If Hoi An was a little touristy & cheesy, I'm sure Dalat is going to be full on tourist city. It was already pretty cheesy 20 years ago.

You're the best Paddy! I'm in Thailand right now and I'm going to be in Vietnam very soon after a one week trip through Cambodia. Your videos are a wealth of knowledge for the traveler to Vietnam. I will be going from south to north starting in Phu Quoc, and your videos have really shown me the way. I'm focusing the most on the north. The best part...............I've only watched about half of your Vietnam videos so far! :)
