Love him or hate him, its heartbreaking to see Barney (or any player) deteriorate from the outstanding player he once was. I guess the schedule, travelling, politics and pressure all took its toll eventually. I hope he continues to make a decent living on the exhibition circuit.

Durrant by 2019 GSOD he was the BDO world champion. Rules are if you get to at least semis in the BDO world champs u qualify for GSOD... So what is Smith on about. Barney looked so so hurt... I felt for the guy

I think it has something to do with the ranking money. The fact that BDO players don't take advantage from that ranking money because they don't compete in the PDC tour but Durrant did while being the only BDO qualifier on the PDC tour

Barney's final interview is really quite upsetting. He doesn't care about all the success he's had in the past, he just thinks he's an amateur, and he thinks his whole life is a disappointment. It begs the question why he's coming back to q school this year

Well he changed alot about his life. remember he left his wife, after she was held at knife point from an intruder . i mean if your barney there u must feel destroyed . but he has regretted alot , hes health was terrible.. But he went to Q school. and he came back and won a tour event, sadly after that he collasped at a event but hes doing ok, qualified for the Grand Slam, wishing him best of luck for saturday

Dan A bloke who went from being so good at the game he loved, winning the most nail biting incredible final and never winning a world championship again, a man left broken by the split between him and his ex-wife, who's presence could make him win any match. A man, who in the twilight of his career, felt he made a disgrace of himself and dashed the hopes of his fans. A man who had one goal in that last year. Win a title. Just win a title to get the confidence to win the worlds. And he couldn't. He let himself down, and he felt he let his fans down. That loss broke him. It would've broke me too. It for damn sure would've broken you. He was speaking very much about how he felt in that very moment. He felt that all his achievements, putting Dutch darts on the map, was worth nothing compared to the disappointment he and his fans felt when he lost against Darin. He said how he felt. And if you can't handle a man under that much stress and sadness being honest about how he feels, then don't fucking well watch it you prick.

Interesting to see the premier players of what began as a fun pub sport complain of pettiness, etc. Tonight I visited my pub for Monday darts and introduced myself to an observer. He recognized me as a player and immediately commented on "the women who organize the tourney and all the goings on" ... his words. He was referring to two or three boys who spend 30 minutes each Monday counting the $100 or so and choosing (at random) the teams. He had a point. I beg all you boys (and girls) who love your darts as I do, play, win or lose gracefully, give your opponent their fair share of sh*t as they're throwing and more than their fair share of respect when the game is done! It is DARTS not Housewives of This or That Place!

Most these players said they only play darts to provide for their families. They can do that with a regular job. I just feel most the players there now do not give a shit about darts or trophies. They just want the money. Also most these players would not even get a job if darts failed, most of them are not that intelligent and can barely string a sentence together. Chisnall and Smith can barely talk good English. I can understand MVG better than them
