Lady Thatcher will forever be one of my favorite politicians of all time and an incredibly inspiring figure. I love her strong, corageous, no-nonsense sort of attitude. She reminds me of the women I grew up with - conservative, strict, often unlikeable. But they are strict because they want the best for you and they understand coddling people is a form of poisoning them. The world is in need of figures like her. Her intelligence and gravitas trespass frontiers - I am from Chile, very far away from the United Kingdom, and I've always looked up to Lady Thatcher with respect and admiration. From a woman to another, thank you, Margaret Thatcher, for breaking ceilings and being a prime example of reasonable and non-resentful female leadership.

I was envious of my father when he told me that he remembered his youth when Winston Churchill was PM. The other day my son asked me about Margaret Thatcher and it suddenly dawned on me that I had also lived through a moment in British history when we were a proud fair and righteous nation again, who have hopefully not seen the last great world leader on our shores. I do hope with all my heart my son's and grand children get to see and live under such leadership.

Feminists hate Thatcher, just as they hate right-wing and traditionally feminine women in general. Feminism's first priority is leftism, which means erasing natural distinctions between people (in this case, between men and women) in the name of "equality." Feminism is not about empowering women, it's about quite literally the opposite: justifying the weakness of unfeminine, ill-constituted women while demonizing all genuine and spontaneous expressions of femininity (which they call "internalized misogyny") and masculinity (which they describe as "toxic"). It's about desexing society. It is based on a denial of sexual dimorphism. "We're all unequal. No one, thank heavens, is quite like anyone else, however much the socialists may pretend otherwise." -- Margaret Thatcher

Toastrack Man she was not a tyrant. You may disagree with her policies, hell you would be hard pressed to find someone that agreed with all of them, but she accomplished remarkable things. Many of the changes she made were not pleasant but were necessary, the various national industries were hemorrhaging money, the economy was a mess. Just because she couldn’t magically resolve every problem the nation faced at the time without causing some harm does not make her undeserving of the due respect for her remarkable accomplishments

Jonathan Courtnage great comment. She had difficult choices to make. I commend her for standing up to the unions. People of today can’t appreciate the power unions wielded in the U.K. in the ‘80’s. She broke that un democratic power and freed up a lot of people to make their own choices in life. Starting a business, buying a council house etc.

Coulter Who said anything about tokenism? Yes, Thatcher was promoted on merit. I don't doubt or deny that. Yes, meritocracy is always preferable to tokenism. HOWEVER, in many speeches and interviews Thatcher extolled the virtues of women in politics ("If you want something said, as a man do it, if you want something done ask a woman") and yet never promoted women into senior cabinet posts. I find it very difficult to believe that the Conservative Party from 1975, when she became leader of the Tory party, through to 1990 when she resigned as UK PM, was so bereft of genuine female talent that Thatcher was the only woman actually worthy of taking high office.

Thatcher was spot on about the EU. Love the countries of europe and that's why we should keep the individual nation states instead of building a superstate. Europe is so diverse in it's cultures, traditions, languages ect and that's what makes it great. Merging them all and removing the nation state is a huge mistake and in my opinion it just doesn't work. We dont need to copy the united states and build a superstate. A europe of individual, proud and unique nations is the way it has always been and always should be. Love her or hate her, Margaret Thatcher was a strong woman and was so right about the european union. If Theresa May wanted to be iron lady 2.0 then she failed miserably. Thatcher was the best PM since Clement Attlee, Theresa May was the worst PM since Frederick North.
@ukbloke28

What an idiotic view. For a start, the psycho was pro- EU. And then addressing your other point - no one has ever suggested removing the unique cultures of each country in Europe, nor do I believe anyone could. Such paranoia! You really think that English culture would become homogeneous with France's or the Italians would renounce their own language in favour of German or put aside their fine cheeses to eat only Manchego? Or is there some specifically generic "EU" culture and language they would all adopt? What is it? Where is it?

I grew up under this woman ( and what a privilege it was) and unbeknownst to me at the time she actually had things in mind way beyond her tenure which would be realised way beyond her realm. I know the good people of the North will say different, but what she did was for the Country and God bless her for that, she was a true leader in times when the majority challenged her, she stood firm and in the end she won out. In the end some thirty years later she won out. What a marveleous Woman she was !

the NHS is nearly dead, we have the most expensive and least efficient train network in Europe. We have little manufacturing capacity to capitalise on our great innovations in science and tech (look up ARM chips and graphene as two examples. The country could probably live off the ARM IP alone if they hadn't sold it off. It's in pretty much every handheld electronic device on the planet). I could go on. The country is on it's knees and you people STILL can't see how toxic her legacy is, how broken and corrupt is the thinking.

Lady Thatcher is the greatest national hero(ine) since Churchill. Without her we would be the poorest fucking province in the USSR, which without Britain, would still be around.

One of the best leaders of Western Democracy of our time. The West was at it best with Thatcher as PM of the UK, Reagan President in the US, Mulroney PM of Canada & Helmut Kohl PM in Germany. This was a time or certainty of purpose and certainty of right over wrong, good over evil. Today the left has so blurred the lines with their self loathing and choosing economic equality like a Soviet Communist over exceptionalism and mediocrity over greatness! What is it about this generation of mindless followers over citizens that are proud of their countries? RIP Margaret Thatcher, you were the best Prime Minister because you knew what it was to be British, you knew what it meant to be free and you knew what you believed in! 🇬🇧🇬🇧

She virtually saved this country from bankruptcy. She was a true British patriot and probably the best prime minister we've ever had. Our enemies hated her but respected her. She took no shit from the soviet union, the Argentinian junta, the EU or indeed the administration of Ronald Reagan in the US. A true conservative who cherished our values and culture. R.I.P.
