Indeed. When she said during her first years about Mr. Gorbachev that 'we can do business with him', as a foreign student in the UK in early 1980s I couldn't believe her. But returning to the UK many years later doing my post-graduate study I could tell the very significant changes had taken place in the UK since her Prime Ministership. When Gorbachev introduced the 'glasnost' I realize how right she was about Mr. Gorbachev. She lived to watched her vision of the Communist world collapsing and the fall of the Berlin Wall, a true testimony of her vision and prediction. Mrs. Thatcher is an exceptional leader who came into the UK political horizon 'for such a time as this' and transformed it to be one of the powerhouse in Europe and the world. She's absolutely a Prime Minister many nations would rather have or have had. This nation already have three woman PM, the latest Lizz Truss is a testimony of yhe free spirit and equality this great nation always believe in. May the newly epected PM of the UK will follow the footstep of this great, brilliant and excellent lady, and lead the UK into a gteater chapters in the world.

Do your post graduate again!!!! She left a legacy marked by profound socioeconomic disparities and controversial policies that exacerbated divisions within society. Despite her supporters lauding her economic reforms, Thatcher’s tenure as Prime Minister from 1979 to 1990 significantly widened income inequality and marginalized vulnerable populations.

@@schmuelsonsradang4301 Thatcher’s economic policies, famously dubbed “Thatcherism,” prioritized deregulation and privatization at the expense of social welfare. Her government’s aggressive approach to dismantling state-owned industries and reducing the power of trade unions led to widespread job losses and decimation of traditional working-class communities. For instance, the closure of coal mines during her tenure resulted in severe unemployment and economic devastation in mining regions, as evidenced by the protracted and bitter miners’ strike of 1984-1985.

@@schmuelsonsradang4301 Thatcher’s leadership style was divisive and uncompromising, contributing to social unrest and political polarization. Something the like of Hillary Clinton had always wanted to be but couldn't. This lady is exceptional; brilliant and firm in her stands. It is not an exaggeration to say that she transformed the UK as a nation full of strikes and turned it into an exonomic powerhouse in Europe and the world. Having lived in the UK as a student between the two periods before, during and towards the end of the 1980s, I can say witb pride and honour that she had passed the test, and definitely a Prime Minister many countries would rather have, or had. The UK would have been a differen t UK today without her presence in the administration of this great nation as a Prime Minister.

I loved Lady Thatcher, but her political antennae failed her in this case. She came to Des Moines at the invitation of Steve Forbes (who was stumping in Iowa due to their first-in-the-nation caucuses) to give a speech, so local Republicans invented a new award and bestowed it unto her. This luncheon raised a half million dollars for Iowa Republicans, who would then be beholden to Steve Forbes (of all people) in the upcoming Presidential race. There were quite a few news stories at the time about this speech and the unseemliness of it all. Great speech, wrong place, wrong time.
