It does make me wonder just HOW secretive they were with it. They've been maximum levels of flirty for 10 years now so it's probably been impossible to tell even for fellow Smosh employees. Even if they've been living together as evidence suggests, you know they were probably just telling people they were roommates. They literally waited for everyone to give up and start shipping Shangelayne before going public. Either they hid it from most people at Smosh as well or they had cast/crew/teams of editors hiding their secret for years which would be such a strange and massive effort.

There are 'proof' compilations that have been around for years showing them behind the scenes, off-set, at events, or at after-parties where it's pretty obvious that they were dating AND everyone at/related to Smosh was very non-chalant about it. And it makes sense. Smosh wouldn't/shouldn't have an issue with it (there's no power imablance that would make it an HR nightmare, it was more than likely happening since around the Defy days, etc) so of course they'd tell this very close group of family-like friends and coworkers. They just were lucky enough to have such a great group around them willing to keep it quiet, only joke about it as if it wasn't real, delete insta stories if they slipped up and caught Shartney in a moment, etc.

Close friends of theirs posted about it (not from Smosh), they uploaded pictures after the first of April, their familys talked about it, Damien confirmed that it was real, they made a public statement in the peoples magazine that the marriage is real and that they revealed it on April first to joke with people, in the last stream Shayne is wearing a wedding ring, they said in the stream several times that he just got married or hinted at it, Courtneys been wearing an engagement ring for a long time and it's been obvious for a long time that she has a partner and she wouldn't do this if they were dating someone else. Besides all of this I have no reason to believe they lied and at that point it's weird to question their words. They've said it themselves, they are married, why wouldn't I believe them? There are literal pictures from their ceremony. They both wouldn't lie about this if it wasn't true, but there also isn't a reason for it. They obviously f-ed with the community by posting it on April 1st. You shouldn't question everything. If someone, plus their friends & family, tells you that they got married, usually you accept that and move on
