I became a fan of "The Golden Girls" because when I was little, I would stay with my grandma Betty- "Grammy" as I called her- after school and she was a big fan of both "The Golden Girls" and "I Love Lucy." Watching these shows nowadays makes me feel as though Grammy is still alive and sitting next to me on my living room couch. Grammy died when I was fifteen; I miss her a lot, but I'm doing okay.

@@michaellovely6601 I also became a fan at a young age and through my grandmother. She had them recorded on VHS tapes so we'd watch them together. This was late 90s/early 2000s. She's still alive and it's a show we both still enjoy as well as mash. While I have shows that are more recent that I enjoy,I actually prefer a lot of older tv shows despite my age. I think it's beautiful that that's a memory the two of you shared and it's a way to feel close to her.

Estelle Getty(Sophia) was actually the second youngest actress of the 4. Though, Sophia was in her 80's, Estelle Getty was really in her 60's at the time. It's amazing what a wig, large glasses and make up can do. Old people characters are funny when it's really a younger person playing the old person. It worked for Mama's Family which was another show that 2 of the Golden Girl actresses used to be on.
