Brilliant!!! Baryshnikov and Leslie Browne set to U2. I think you captured the magic and passion of the movie, the ballet, and the dancers perfectly!

I love this movie, one of my favorites. The dancing is fabulous! I have to agree with other comments though, I didn't really care for the music. It was a little loud for me, but you did pick the best moments from the movie! :D

(by dane youssef) It's funny that this movie was so immensely popular with dancers as it isn't so much about dance as it is the about that key moment in life when everything changes. But this scene is all about ballet. The life, the dedication, the sweat and blood. The determination. Anyone who's been there will tell you the same. U2 actually makes a nice fit. Yeah, this is the life. Well done, pretty swan. Well-done.

by Dane Youssef It's been well over 30 years. This whole damn thing still holds up. Many people claim that this is the movie this is the film they made them dance. This is all so electrifying, so pumping, so inspiring, so big in action... so much going on in a professional ballet academy. As great as "Turning Point" was, THIS is a great film in its own right. by Dane Youssef

How was it? I gort accepted into the jr corp of the NY City Ballet and then broke my foot before I ever got to do one class... Was going to do the Nutcracker. I want to teach one day. Pass on what I learned!! How long have you been dancing? I have been at it for 37 years and counting :)

The dancing is wonderful. The music is wretched. I have nothing against U2 in particular, but there is a good reason the Tchaikovsky/Petipa ballets have survived and it is not entirely due to the choreography. Rock music comes from the lowest chakra. Dancers, who have refined their instruments, are no longer susceptible to the vibe emanating from the lower chakras in music. Martha Graham once said to a class I was taking, "What we are really doing here is refining the spirit."

no thats not giselle, theres no black costumes in giselle and it usually has the long tutus. I think its etudes, which is an AWESOME ballet. parts of it are featured in this old docementary movie called "bold steps" with the national ballet of canada

Actually...I think the music went with the video better than expected. U2 was a good choice

i noticed how thin the main character was,Amillia. I know ballarina's are naturly thin, but part of me thinks she was too thin. Though i loved the part of movie when she and her lover(i can't spell his name) dance and then make love*sigh* just like dirty dancing almost. Someone should make a tribute to all the most romantic dance secnces. No matter what type of dance, or music it should turn out good.

Still astounded Leslie Browne and Mikhail Baryshnikov were nominated for Oscars for their performances in this film. A very entertaining piece of work climaxing with one of the best catfights the big screen ever saw but the supporting performances...laughably weak.

I absolutely love the final dance too, but I wish they had shown her full length more. Also, I can't believe they were nominated for supporting roles. Their acting was awful. Dancing was fabulous, but acting not. The Ailey-choreographed Ellingtonia was incredible too. And of course, the Romeo and Juliet balcony scene pas de deux.

music: wrong wrong wrong! u2 as opposed to the classical composers, chopin, prokofiev, even ellington, and this is imposed? noooooo it takes away from the beauty of the dance and cheapens it
