What a strong record over the last 3 seasons, culminating in a very narrow loss in this year’s grand final. 22 wins during the regular season is phenomenal. There’s only one thing worse than losing a grand final by 2 points, and that’s losing it by 1. Rest up Rabbitohs, then train hard for ‘22.

The last two clubs that Wayne Bennett has coached (the Broncos and the Rabbitohs) both got to Grand Finals (2015 and 2021). Both lost, but neither loss was the coach's fault. The Broncos threw away a certain win with a minute and a half to go by taking several wrong options. Souths only had one, the cut-out pass from Cody Walker. A short pass to Gagai who was into a yawning gap with AJ in support would certainly have led to a try. Like Bennett, I don't blame Cody for that. He has covered Souths in diamonds, with very few rocks this year. Latrell's absence was lamentable, though. I really hope he pulls his head in and learns not to be so rash in the future. Tedesco and Turbo would never have put themselves or their teams in that position.
