I've lived in Arizona a long time and I never get tired of exploring trails in my 4Runner. I can't get out as often as I used to, so I really appreciate and enjoy you videos. Thanks for producing them...
@lanet604 жыл бұрын
Saguaro pronounced (swore o). My favorite cactus, they grow new arms to keep them straight and tall. When they start to lean, a branch will grow from the opposite side to keep them straight. Have you seen them with a flower yet. Love to see them flower. Walking across the desert you can find sea shells from when it was all under water. Have you found any desert rose. They are rocks, not easily found. I love Arizona. It's also illegal to take saguaro's or damage them. When building a new house or putting in new roads they have to be dug up and replanted. In drought they get skinny and when it rains they swell up. They are actually hollow inside. Like I said that's my favorite cactus. Sorry to ramble on.

I've lived in Arizona for 35 years, and I have a suggestion. Take Bates Well Road South from Ajo. When you reach Bates Well [around 25 miles South of Ajo], turn West on El Camino Diablo. Follow the Camino 135 miles West to Yuma. In a lifetime of exploring desert places, this is the best place I've found. I lack supperlatives to convey just how beautiful this place is. Be careful, though. Make sure you get a permit from the Cabeza Prieta Wildlife Refuge office in Ajo. The Cabeza Prieta is part of the Goldwater Air Force Range and you will see live firing. Go armed. There is a lot of smuggling going on in the Cabeza. Most important of all, treat this trip like an expedition to the remote region it is. Take LOTS of water [there is none out there], and plan for every contingency. All the hassle is worth it. Your reward will be seeing the best desert place in North America.

I love Arizona. I spent time there in 2019 near Ashfork. It's between Flaggstaff and Kingman on I-40. If you exit at the Ashfork location and follow the signs directing toward Prescott there are fantastic trails about 15 miles ahead. At Drake Road go left. You will see the cement plant from miles out. Go left at the plant. Many trails past the blasting site. There is a 'river of rock' formation about 2 miles past the blasting site. Round and oval rocks form a ribbon. The colors are blues, silvers and yellows. Its stunning Also north of Ashfork you can follow the alternate route from Ashfork to Williams. Take a trail, any trail. Most go back into flagstone areas. I really enjoy your videos. 💖
