The Best One Yet?! | Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization Review

On my quest to play all the Sword Art Online games Hollow Realisation is probably one of my most anticipated games in the series. It was the game I heard the most about it, be it from other reviews or viewers and overall people were rather positive about it. And a positive experience would be a good way to wash the rather nasty taste that Lost Song left.
In Lost Song case I hoped things would be better than its predecessor which turned out to be the other way around. instead of doing things better and continue the previous work it decided to more or less burn it and start anew. Luck seem to be on my side here as Sword Art Online Hollow Realisation is developed by the same studio that did RE: Hollow Fragment and use that game as its foundation.
In other words it gave me a hopeful outlook to Hollow Realisation and to the series itself. As with the same people behind a next instalment will offer the series an opportunity to develop, improve and change instead of crash and burn.
Now let’s see if they took this opportunity and created another but better and most importantly fun game. This is Sword Art Online Hollow Realisation.

Ah the good memories of the dating sim thingy. I was like 25+ hours into the game not even knowing that was a thing lol. When I found out about it I genuinely memed it out a lot with my friend. Agil my beloved baldy.

hmmm I am actually not that surprised to hear that, it is rather easily missed as the game mentions it only once in a quick tutorial. phahaha Klein still is the bezt boi! xD

Really cool you're playing all the games! I recently played all six games available on playstation and got the platinum trophy for all of them. This one and Fatal Bullet are definitely the best in my opinion.

Really cool that you took the time to watch me videos! man plat in all of them is mad time investment. I remember that Re:Hollow had some pretty rough once. gg on all of them! atm I am working on my Fatal Bullet review, I'm a bit in the middle of things when it comes to Fatal Bullet. it does some new things which I really liked but it also stumbles a lot on element that previous installments did better.

Yes two games that are high on the list! thou I am also still considering to play Accel World VS. Sword Art Online. Its been awhile thou that I watched Accel world but I remember liking it sooo who knows what the game has to offer^^

Starting from HR (for me fatal bullet) practically makes Philia a stranger and unlikely for us to date her early or at all.

@@GreiratEinzel I know right!? The Nintendo switch gets crazy sales from 59$ to 7$… also fatal bullet was same price around 9$ but I didn’t like the weapons I prefer swords so I got this one lol I love the mmo feel a lot! Since the switch lacks mmos

I love the gameplay and story for this game but...I just, HATE, what they did with this game did at teh start. Personal Character Customization => Cutscene where it's Kirito in his default design and not YOUR character. If they were going to do this then I wanted them to straight up remove the Character Customization option and just make us play as Kirito so that I didn't need to buy this game to begin with. And it's not because I wanted to have the Kirito-Harem with my own self-insert character. Fatal Bullet, teh game that came after did this perfectly, where you make your own character and play in GGO, and you simply meet Kirito and his Harem gang ingame. And you yourself have a small number of characters that knows you, and you interact with them. THIS was a great experience, and it made me play Fatal Bullet with more engagement and drive compared to Hollow Realization. Sure I can put my own name in, and in the Visual-Novel style Cutscenes they'll use my name in Text, or in the in-game cutscene there's no voice acting, but in alot of cutscenes, everyone calls me Kirito and I HATE it. And it must be even more so for anyone who wanted to play as a Female Character but have everyone treat you as Kirito no matter what. If it was that difficult to make a story in a SAO game where it's NOT about Kirito and his Harem and Friends, then I really want them to just...Stop making games at this point cause I absolutely, absolutely HATE playing as Kirito. And if they DO make a SAO game in teh near future, please make one like Fatal Bullet where we're our own Character, and we meet the SAO gang alongside other new characters that we can interact with.

@happyhealsgaming7614 Oh I couldnt agree with you more! Its a returning wish I have seen from a lot of fans and myself to play as their own character in a SAO story rather than as Kirito. And i dont know why they keep shoving us in to his boots rather than have our own character. GGO showed that the concept of playing your own character works well and with improvements can be amazing! but for the new game that is going to be released this year it doesnt seem like we are going to be playing our own character in the story either... the mobile game gets a release on PC which apparently you get to play the first SAO events as your own character buuut its a mobile port soo I have my doubts about it :/

​ @Greirat der Einzelgänger ​ @Greirat der Einzelgänger Oh definitely, really only a small handful of Mobile game has been successful at this point, most definitely don't want to put our hope onto it. And what's sad is I believe from what I've seen online ever since SAO was on anime, everyone LOVES the world of SAO, the concept the ideas, the gaming world, but when you ask about the characters it just...drops. And it is all mainly because of Kirito which is really sad. First season we simply believed that Kirito was a grounded hardcore gamer, hence why he's really strong, knows the in and out others don't and so forth. Every character we meet felt fresh, had development and so forth. But as seasons went by they did 2 of the worst mistakes: 1) Made Kirito more and more "conveniently" strong to the point where we just couldn't relate to him whatsoever. Having some weird but convenient connections with higher-ups in game that makes story flow way too convenient for him, doing things apparently millions of other players CANNOT do because suddenly he's REALLY smart or has reaction-time that no one else can pull and so forth. I know this is somewhat common in some tropes, but they just did a bit "Too Much" on Kirito that he just doesn't feel ...Real, in any manner. 2) And because of reason 1), this made every, other character completely very boring after they get introduced into the anime. What's so exciting about meeting other characters when they get steam-rolled by Kirito within 5, 10 minutes because Kirito does something just a bit too much. And what's the point of introducing new female characters when the majority just shows, and sometimes, VERY quick interest in Kirito and it stops there. Majority of character that I thought were wonderful just stopped growing/developing because they have the focus the story around Kirito to the point where they become...Boring. In both FB And HR I spend more time using characters that's NOT in the original gang atm because interacting with them is actually fresh and new. So...Strea, Philia (Cause I never played HF xD), Rain, Seven, Kureha, Zelestia and so forth.

I like the game but I hate how slow the attack animations for the monsters are, it basically makes everything super easy. I wish someone would somehow hack the game and turn up the reaction speed of monsters by 200%
