In the UK, I can’t find any short-fibre mulberry because I don’t think legion paper ships to the Uk and I can’t find any other companies. How bad is long-fibre mulberry because I can quite easily get that?

Its great to fold but it has a different texture that you may or may not want. Since you are in the UK see if you can get wenzhou from Boesner in Germany. Its much better paper.
